Whether it was a low budget or a high budget it is still an utter waste of license fee subscribers money. These guys obviously had a video camera at their disposal, it would have cost them exactly £10 each to have got on one of the many open top tour buses that operate this wonderful city. There is no excuse, these guys could have made a brilliant video presentation of York for next to nothing, but chose to film themselves caught up on climbing aparatus and the backdrop of a stone wall.
Well if thats what the BBC are wasting their money on, its no wonder there are so many TV License dodgers. This is an absolute insult to such a beautiful city we have here in the uk, but more importantly it gives the british tv license paying public an insight as to what their annual license fee is being wasted on.
...The TV version will, I'm sure, be a winner due to your lively personalities -- I almost feel that I know you from your style of presentation. Twats you are not. I look forward to the Guisborough film as I understand it to be QI.
Thank you both for a witty + perceptive look at York. Through your choices of locations you have captured the essence of the great and proud city; your subtle description of the child bricking herself into the room had me in tears. Almost. If you were to make another York film perhaps take a look at the city's fascinating car parks (the beauty of the Clifford's Tower one is unsurpassed) and please investigate the 'why birds shit all over the university' theory...
you are both twats. I saw youre band at an open mic night in boro and you were shit. the bbc are claerly derranged for letting you use a camera to film this complete horseshit. if i ever see either of you in the street i will happily punch you in the face.
First of all, I should say that Martin does not describe the dungeons as 'rubbish'. He says that they were 'alright'. We also realized that the walls were three miles long but we saw all of them on the interactive quiz so we didn't need to walk them plus it would have been a waste of film to just film walls, wouldn't it? The film will be shown sometime in the Autumn on a yet to be decided channel so maybe you'll like it better when it's on telly rather than your computer screen.
With a nightlife boasting both the Theatre Royal and the Grand Opera House -- as well as the usual variety of pubs and bars - York is one of the most exciting places to live in the world! It is, however, a city that thrives on Tourism. Rather than badmouthing York, Ken and Martin should understand that they have a responsibility not to mislead the public.
It is a spectacular three mile walk! Other thrilling activities include the National Railway Museum (home to the Flying Scotsman!); the Castle Museum and Clifford's Tower (built on top of a Norman motte, the site of a massacre of Jews in 1190); and the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens (beautiful all year round!).
They describe York Dungeon as "rubbish", which is likely to put people off visiting the area. I for one have often visited with my two small boys; and both they and I have found the Dungeon to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience!
I strongly urge people not to be taken in by such a reckless documentary. The walk round the city walls (described rather articulately as "just a wall innit"!) offers some picturesque views of one of the most beautiful cities in the UK.
As a faithful Englishman, who pays his Television Licence fee every year, I am appalled that the BBC would commission such utter tripe!
While I understand the need for the "Beeb" to rivet itself within popular youth culture, this short film exemplifies the perpetual "dumbing down" of the Corporation's programming. Ken and Martin, while clearly trying to make a spoof documentary, should be aware of the affect that they are likely to have on tourism and the local economy of the area.
Actually ken, thanks, but that's not definate yet, cos we might not do guisborough, it might be saltburn or whitby, so maybe you should consult me before you go announcing things...
You would think that cos you never listen to me! We agreed that we'd do a special 'A day in the life of' in our home town of Guisborough, but we're not gonna 'present' guisborough. You're such a bum head! Why dyou never listen?

. I urge them to take down this video immediately. Their attempt at "humour" has produced something which could harm this proud and historical city.
