only problem ist, that explorers only look good when they're hung just below your nuts, and i guess it's hard to play then^^

Yeah, that's a thing about explorers... When they're hung so low, it gets kinda hard to play. But then again, if you're a rhythm guitarist, like say James Hetfield, there's no real problem. It's the lead guitarists that really can't do solos that easily unless it's hung higher.

Yeah the downpicking takes some practice but when you get the hold of it it's pretty good because it gives another feeling to the song (a more "aggressive" one). :)
