  • How long should you use hand grips in a week?

  • @23Arshaviin

3 days per week, take a day of rest in between each hand gripper workout. You'll get a free hand gripper workout manual with every order from LeeHayward. com/heavygrips.htm

  • Hey its steve-o. I got strong hands from jacking off a lot. Kills 2birds wit 1 stone

  • u sound like a newfie or irish

  • Hey lee , is it ok if I do this when I take a walk and on classes under my table?

  • @MegaFreshFood

These grippers are too hard to just mindlessly rep out like that. You need to give these grippers 100% effort in order to get the most out of them.

  • does this make your hand bigger too?

  • @MrGourov16

It will help to thicken the hands a bit, but you won't physically increase the size of your hands by much as they are mostly bone and tendons, there isn't a whole lot of muscle mass in the actual hands themselves.

  • I have a question. I just got a set of 2 the 100lbs one and the 150lbs . I can close both now with both hands. But my left hand is always more sore after the workout. And I have to rest more than a day for my left hand. Should I train less with the left hand? I am 14 btw.

  • @Nnnarekkk

Train the grippers the same with both hands. So judge the frequency of your workouts by your left hand recovery. You want to maintain balance and proportion between the left and right hands so train them equally.

  • @leemhayward is it normal that my hands take about three days to recover?

  • @Nnnarekkk

As you build up your work capacity your hands will recover faster. But for now just wait it out and train according to your individual recovery rate.

  • @leemhayward my gripers weird , one of the grip is straight and the other is slighty slanted , which side do i use on this grip for the figners?

  • @kingsalar1

The handle with the straight side of the spring should be in the palm of the hand when closing the grippers.

  • And i have small hands.

  • Hi dude i have a question:i got my heavy grip 200 not much time ago,but i can't

    close it,i am close(in paralel set i have very close)but i can't close it.what muscles

or exercise i must do to close this gripper(i don't have more grippers than HG200)

    Thank You,Lembit.

  • @Pentagonshark666

Do negatives, cheat the gripper shut with both hands and slowly open it with one hand. This will help you build up strength to fully close your gripper.

  • @Pentagonshark666 You might want to invest in one or two easier grippers, and try to close them with only three fingers. Excluding your index finger for one set, and pinky finger for another set. This will increase the amount of work each finger has to contribute to closing the gripper. Failing that: look up fingertip push-up's.

  • you dont know what your talking about mate

  • You ship worldwide ?

Should I do this right after workout or when i watch tv or something?

What kind of set should I do ? Something like 8x3 ?

  • @opl912

Yes, we ship hand grippers world wide. The key with gripper training is doing low reps. I literally do single rep sets for gripper workouts. I cover exactly how to train them with a complete hand gripper workout program that's included with every order on my website LeeHayward*com

  • i can increase the tension on those "cheap plastic hand grippers" by slowing down the squeeze and differentiate the angle of the wrist ...

  • I have the HG200 and i have had it for about a month now.I can do about ten reps to about 4mm short of closing but just can;t close the damn thing.I have small hands and have tried to set it as shown but still can't do it.Ahhhhhh any advice?

  • @Thensolomonsaid

You should try doing negatives with the harder grippers as well as over crushes with the lighter grippers. This will help to quickly improve your crushing grip strength. I've got a hand gripper workout guide that's included with every hand gripper order from my website that explains all this in detail... Just click on the link that's in the video description.

  • Great vid. Just got a set of these and am lovin' em. If one hand has a significantly weaker grip than the other, should you ignore the stronger hand until the weak one catches up? Thx

  • @AgedES335

No, you can still train both hand equally. But just realize that you'll probably always have one hand stronger than the other. My right hand is stronger then my left and I've been training grippers for about 9 or 10 years now.

  • hello i have recently started bouldering (some kind of climbing) and would it be useful if i also start with grippers to improve my climbing ore will it be useless please help me

  • @MrAnory

Climbing requires a strong grip. So building up your grip with heavy grippers would definitely help with climbing.

  • Are you suppost to use hand grips before or after a wieght lifting excersice? Please let me know...

  • @SoUthTeXasHoUsToN1

You should train hand grippers after your weight training workouts. If you do them before hand it may fatigue your hands and hinder your grip for your other exercises.

  • Does anyone know if it's possible to crush a (not-rotten) apple with one hand, without using any tricks(like putting thumb inside apple etc)? I can personally close the new CoC2 about 8x (properly) with right hand, but still can't crush a damn apple!

  • @leemhayward i got sweaty hands anyways so nothing is gonna help me ! I use the normal grips and do 75 reps each time my natural forearms are already beast to i need no help and plus size doesn't mean anything anyways !

  • @leemhayward Seriously... Advise a 200 pound gripper to a beginner? That's harder than the new CoC2(which is nearly the old CoC4) and not many people can even close those...

  • @Xcrypt1991

It's hard to compare grippers as they can vary a lot, some springs are harder than others. But I know my COC#2 is way harder then a HG200. In fact my COC#1 is about on par with the HG200.

  • @MissKuriosity It's just Magnesium Carbonate. But names like "Weightlifting/powerlifting chalk" and such are more common.

  • @leemhayward i know you said they work the forearms other than the hands but does it work out any other muscles in the bicep region ?

  • @lKingCobra

Most of the tension is on the forearms. But having a stronger grip will indirectly help with all your other exercises because you'll be able to hold on to heavier weights and perform more reps without your hands giving out.

  • Closing the hg 350 is quite impressive. My hg 350 is harder than my coc #3. Nice work.

  • you just talk no action

  • @C4ptainTiger

Well I did close the Heavy Grips 350 in the video :-)

  • @leemhayward Nice close man.. Which COC it is equal to???

  • SHIT!! I can't get these in India... :(

  • Good info

  • @leemhayward r these really all that good ? thinking about getting them feed back from others will be good thanks :)

  • @MissKuriosity

"Gymnastics Chalk" is what you use for working out. You can google search for it.

  • My grip starts to fail doing 100kg (220lbs) deadlifts. Ive never used grippers before which would you recomend to use?

  • @dannynistic

The best thing to do is to get them full set of 6 grippers, this way you can train your grip with a wide variety of resistance, from lighter warm up sets, all the way up to top end heavy sets. Just like you wouldn't want to train at a gym with just one set of dumbbells, ideally wouldn't want to have just one strength gripper. But if you can only afford to get 1 gripper then pick a 200 pound gripper. That's a common one for most beginners.

  • how many reps should i do per day with this little device ;D ???

  • @foroeste1

The best way to train hand grippers is with single rep sets. Rather than taking an easy gripper and mashing out endless reps. Take a hard gripper and squeeze it for what your worth with single rep sets. That's what will build up a strong grip.

  • just jerk the chicken handshakes are mens way of saying i jerk off way harder than you

  • Hey Lee, i play basketball. Will this help improve the amount of strength that shooting a basketball? And will i be able to grip the ball better, like holding it? Thx lee appreciate your help. Bought mine already..:)

  • @hairymangosteen

Grippers can help with anything that requires hand strength. But as for gripping the B-ball it may help, but that's mostly determined by the size of your hands. If you have short fingers you probably won't be able to grip the ball regardless of how strong your hands are.

  • @leemhayward Ok thx.

  • that shit works bro, my forearms is fucking melting!

  • does this help build forearms?

  • @pointbky

Yes, hand gripper training helps build up the forearms.

  • @leemhayward Have you tried Captains of Crush hand grippers? I mean judging from this video your hands are as strong as Magnus Samuelsson's, wouldn't it be fine to get a certificate?

  • @Trithij

I have both sets of grippers. The Heavy Grips are not as hard as COC grippers.

  • @leemhayward It all depends on resistance levels, doesn't it? I mean HG400 must be at least as hard as CoC 4 that is rated at 367 lbs. HG300 should still be at least as hard as CoC 3 at 280 lbs.

What is the difference between them? And don't say that you are unable to close CoC 3 with ease.

  • Hey lee, do these help with lifting more weight at all? just curious because I'd like to increase my grip when I'm lifting since it tends to slip up or change positions or overall just not be gripped enough.

  • @xkruulx

Absolutely, if your grip is strong you'll be able to exert maximum force when weight lifting. The grip is often the weak link when weight training, especially with pulling exercises.

  • @leemhayward thank you lee

  • @leemhayward thank you lee, I just bought some yesterday online!:)

  • i do 60 reps and my grip is stronger than do for max for 5 second

  • i can close the handles together so they are parallel to each other but i cant get them to touch yet. should i move on or should i wait until i can get the handles to touch?

  • @TKDdans

You can do partials and negatives with harder grippers. But you should still work on closing the easier grippers all the way.

  • hey lee i just ordered my full set of heavy grippers, i wanna know whats a good rep range to stay at, if i wanna increase my grip on deadlift? would you suggest mid reps or very low reps?

  • @metallicsaber120

I suggest you follow the Hand Gripper Training Manual, that shows you exactly how to train hand grippers. If you ordered your grippers from LeeHayward*com you would have been sent this right away via e-mail.

  • Can you get certified for the CoC #4 since you can close the 350? I'm not sure how the certification works or are there more rules because I've seen more than five people on YouTube close the #4 Grip.

  • @NightClash909

The COC #4 is harder than the HG 350. I have both the COC grippers and the HG grippers. I find the COC are better for testing your strength, whereas the HG are better for training. The HG handles are set a little closer and they are not as rough, so it makes it easier for more frequent gripper workouts.

  • i neva knew its science to handgripping goddamm

  • Will this help make my hand heavy cuz I just recently broke my wrist? So will it help.

  • @Abelcadena19

Not sure what you mean by making your "hand heavy". But regular gripper work will strengthen your hands and forearms.

  • better now waste money, just masturbate everyday and you'll get a good grip.

  • I've recently closed the 250 recently.what program would recommending for closing the 300?

  • @mad4you1000

I've got a complete hand gripper workout that I've personally used to close the 300 and 350 grippers. It's a free bonus with every hand gripper order at: LeeHayward*com

  • does this increase forearm/wrist size?

  • @tryandlike

Yes, hand gripper training can help thicken your wrists and forearms. I've added a solid inch to my forearms since starting hand gripper training.

  • @tryandlike, bear in mind after time... sod all watches out the box will fit you.

  • whats your opinion on ever last extra strength hand grippers do they give some good results or are they useless?

  • @5jm6

I've never used those grippers before so I can't comment on them.

  • Comment removed

  • where can you find heavy duty ones

  • @MrRossboss2010

I carry them on my website LeeHayward*com

  • what do you do if your hand starts getting sore? mine is killing me and only used my gripper for a few weeks. any tips?

  • @xbatman1x

Take rest days between gripper workouts. Just like any muscle group, rest up until the soreness goes away and then you should be good to train your grippers again.

  • i just squeeze rolled up socks for grip strength lol

  • is it supposed to hurt fingers aswell

  • @ihateyaacov

It may hurt your fingers when you start out, but they'll toughen up as you get more conditioned.

  • does it increase muscle mass of the forearms?

  • @TheMahagoni

Yes, I added a full inch to my forearms in 3 months of regularly using heavy grips in my workouts.

  • @leemhayward thanks

  • this will truthly help me in boxing.because when sometimes i punch hard my hand bends and i twist my punch because i have a weak wrist.

  • @425narutofan do you wear wraps? u should!

  • i bought a captains of crush #1 a while back, barely used it, realized that my right hand is a lot stronger than my left. i do one handed dumbell rows with 120s (the heaviest ones at my gym), no straps, of course for 6-7 reps. is my grip ok, or should i work on it? i see fools using straps with 225 lbs on deadlifts.

  • you kinda look like steve-o

  • That would really help out with deadlifting, whenever I get down to my last set I'm struggling just to hold the bloody thing haha, then I end up changing my grip stance (just doesnt feel natural having a palm facing in and a palm facing out)... Hey lee, what are the reps and sets supposed to be looking like for a heavy handgrip workout?

  • @kimbofanno1

For grip work you should keep your reps really low. In the hand gripper workout program that I include with every gripper order I actually use single rep sets for every exercise. Now some of the exercises are held for time, but you don't go about repping out endless reps like most people do when training grippers.

  • @leemhayward Why not train with alot of reps? I probably do 20 reps, and on my stronger one do around 10. on my strongest one I care barely do 5.

I think they are rated at 80 pounds 100 pounds and 140 pounds.

    Why no reps?

  • @hellow533 Because, just like every part of your body, you need to put a lot of resistance onto your whatever you are training.

When you can do over 20 of something easily, then you are not getting a good enough work out. Your body gets used to whatever stress you add to it.

By using your stronger one that you use 5, eventually you'll be able to do 20 with those as well. Where as if you stick to the ones you're doing 20 with now, you'll never be able to do more than 5 with the stronger ones.

  • do these make your punches more efficent?

  • @TyL33k23

It won't hurt, but having a strong grip won't necessarily make you a good puncher.

  • @TyL33k23 Yes, A strong grip helps by allowing the fist to be clinched tighter at the moment of impact hence denser than would otherwise be possible. Think of two stones, they both weigh the same, however one is extremely dense while the other is porous and not as dense as the first; while they could both injure someone it's easy to see why the dense one would cause more damage. I hope this explanation helps. FYI, this is what is meant by "heavy handed"

  • I have a grip, but my hand is too small to actually do the hand gripping correctly, and I can't get a smaller one because of where I live, they aren't usual..Suggest giving it away or how am I supposed to work it?

  • is it possible to overwork grippers? i have the number one and i do it all day when im bored. some days i do like 200+ reps

  • @scar504

Yeah, you'd be better off getting some harder grippers and training with lower reps.

  • wats the name of the muscle that this one helps on?

  • should you do these every day?

I ordered those, they are amazing :) i am doing 200 now, but i hardly do them.. should you do them everyday or?

  • @ThePebbleOne

Every second day or 3 days per week is an ideal schedule for hand gripper training.

  • im 14 and i think that the one i have is the 20 pound one and im really weak and dont have muscles so its oka for me ???? answer please

  • @ruben95786

You should start off with a heavy grips 100 hand gripper. Just work it consistently and you'll be surprised by how fast your grip strength will improve.

  • whats the difference between my hand grips and those please respond

  • @ruben95786

What kind of hand grips do you have?

  • The grippers will make your hands look thicker over time but don't expect to end up with hands like Denis Cyplenkov.

The area you'll see the biggest gains in is the under side of your forearm. Be sure to do hammer curls as well to build up the top side of your arm.

  • is there a reason for this?does it stop arthiritis or somthing?just asking

  • @GamingGuru21 Stronger hands.

  • hey thanks for the tips. it really helped! one day i hope to be able to close the heavy grip 350 like you...one day!!!

  • playing the piano also helps out with hand/forearm strength. plus hanging on a chin up bar for a min or more will also! o yea heavy bag will kill the forearms too.

  • this would probably help a lot in arm wrestling

  • @ihatebobsaget1989

For sure, a lot of arm wrestlers use heavy grips.

  • will this help me get more hag time cos i wanna hag with my hands but i cant cos it hurts alot and i really need this cos i practice a disipliin called parkour forgive my grammar

  • this is a great video i have some cheap plastic big five grippers where can i buy these heavy grippers???

  • @somepass1

You can get them at LeeHayward [dot] com

  • great tip!

  • Hey how much are these? I had the everlast extra strength wood grippers and I broke both of them through regular use over the course of a year, do these last long?

  • @TheReasonableLogic

You can get these for less than $15 a gripper if you buy a package set at LeeHayward [dot] com

  • @TheReasonableLogic

You can get these for less than 15 bucks a gripper with the package set at LeeHayward [dot] com

  • @TheReasonableLogic Lifetime warranty from the manufacturer too.

  • i cant hold it in position where it has to be it just slips back to my hand after 1 rep

  • how many reps/sets should i do a day?

  • hey lee! does it train only the forearm muscles??

  • SHURGS with barbell, 225 bls dont let go just hold it

no straps, no gloves, no chalk, old school

  • I ordered the 100lbs - 150lbs - 200lbs last year.

The 100lbs was too easy, so i used it 2-3 times only

because i had to do 200-250 repetions to feel

    the muscles working.....

So i practically started with the 150lbs and when that one turned easy as well, i took the 200lbs and worked it for

    about 6-7 months....

Now the 200lbs feels a piece of cake too....

I wonder if my hands got stronger or the grips turn softer after regular usage?

  • @GreecePoland2010

The gripper spring will "season" once it's been closed a few times, but after that the tension will remain the same. It's like the springs in the shocks of a car, it doesn't matter if the car has been driven 100 miles or 10,000 miles the spring tension of the shocks stay practically the same once they are seasoned in.

  • do heavy grips make your forearm actually look buff?

  • @razaviknows yes obviously, as long as you train with perfect form

  • @razaviknows

Yes, when I first started hand gripper training I added a full inch to my forearms in just 90 days. And in terms of strength gains I went from only being able to close the 200 gripper at the beginning to closing the 300 gripper during that time as well.

  • @leemhayward wow that sounds great! but did you have a routine? how many reps/sets should i do? and what number CoC should i start with?

  • i think i dont need this kind of stuff i believe that is genetical i am really strong at this 80% of the people i beat them at hand shaking

  • @steveOoutonbail

Really? You beat 80% of people at "hand shaking"... Interesting I never knew there was a hand shaking competition :-)

  • @leemhayward ...nice answer

  • @leemhayward will this help me get more hag time cos i wanna hag with my hands but i cant cos it hurts alot and i really need this cos i practice a disipliin called parkour

  • @realderekbrothers

This will help with any sports or activities that require a strong grip.

  • @steveOoutonbail hahaha yeaa man i dont think that heavy grips help to much its genetical if you are good at this u can get better with heavy grips

  • I'm trying to make my hands bigger as well as stronger. I have huge arm muscles but skinny bone fingers. I did get fat once up to 250 pounds and my hands actually filled out. The rest of me looked ugly but my hands were finally filled out and full (I loved my hands). And NO I didn't gain fat just to get bigger hands. ha ha Anyway, does anyone know of a way to keep hands big cus' I know hands don't have a lot of muscle.

  • @idavidsawyer

Even though there isn't a lot of muscle in your hands, they will still 'beef up' by making your grip stronger. Just look at people you know in the "real world" with a crazy strong grip, chances are they have thick hands as well.

  • @leemhayward I have large biceps, triceps, and forearms and still have bony hands. I've met several men like me who's hands only build up a tiny bit no matter how big their arms get. An article I read recently statement that you can build up some muscle in your hands but the human hand has very little muscle to build, most men's hands have more fat in them than womens and that is what gives most men that full-handed look... not muscle.

  • I think i'll get this. I want to be a masseur so this would be good to build up more hand strength.

  • @MrJSpice777

Absolutely, anyone who needs a strong grip for their job will benefit from heavy gripper training.

  • hey do these work outs help you throw a ball faster and harder in distance?? and in a fight make your punches stronger?

  • why do i see videos of people chest crushing these things? i guess they do it cause the grippers don't include a set of instructions...lol

  • thankyou mate

  • he looks like a brolic steve-o

  • I'm using the 300 gripper for quite some time now , i'm gonna switch to the 350 one

i find gripping power important , before i started with these grippers , i did worked in the construction and i could easily take those 250 , 300 pound grippers , but i'm on those 300 ones for a while now cause i wanted to build up some more endurance . i do like 40 reps and then have like 30 sec rest do 30 reps then 25 sec of rest and so on ..

  • hi i started with the hg 250 and it took me about a month to finally close it

i bought the hg300 and it felt impossible but i just kept going back and foth between the two and now i can close the hg300 but...is this cheating ..i have to place the fingertips of my other hand ontop of my gripping fingers i don't aid the grip in any way with my other hand but it kinda tricks my brain ..like when somebody spots you whilst doing benchpress ..but i'm still using my stength to close them aren't i ?

  • im 14 and my hand gripper different with you hand gripper

  • Like the Video, thanks for you'r tips. Go on inspiring people!

  • Man, I was doing it soo wrong till now. Glad I saw your video. Your method is so damn effective. Thnx a millions...=D

  • finally closed that damn 150 gripper lol for 4 reps .

I started going to the other heavier grippers the 200 and the 250 and the 300 and closing it as far as I could which they barley budged . so I done small barley budge reps of the heavier grippers. I tried everything negatives, forced negatives none of it worked until I done what I now call " Barley Budges " the 200 now moves within a half inch of closing. so I should be able to nail the 200 in the coming weeks hopefully

  • @cactus9889

Good stuff, partial reps, negatives, etc. will all help build up your strength for closing the harder grippers.

  • @cactus9889 i know it may seem impossible at times but stick with it and don't give up because at the end of the day at least you still training your grip even if you can't close it yet it's better than doing nothing atall :)try and look on youyube for tutorials on how to improve your grip it might do you some good to try some other techniques aswell with wieghts or whatever ok mate .....but don't give up

  • i personally wouldn't use the heavy grips ones, they seem to be far too easy, i can do almost endless reps on the heavy grips 100lb grippers, but barely even one on the captains of crush 1.5 which is rated at 167.5lbs. This difference shouldn't be as much as it is. even the trainer 100lb coc grippers are far harder than the 100lb heavy grips, which my 14 year old sister manages to close.

  • Start doing negatives, close the griper with both hands then slowly open it up with the desired hand, do 5-10 reps 3 times a week and within a week or two ull be able to one hand it

  • someone give me some advice. I am now up to 24 reps on the 100 as of today and still can not close the 150 . I also started following Hand Gripper Beginner Program by Clay Edgin a few weeks ago . and I'm still going nowhere fast.

any suggestions ?? every week I get stronger on the 100 but the 150 will not close

  • @cactus9889 buy the hg 200 and try your hardest to close that for a week or so

then go back to the 150 and it will seem much easier trust me ...but when you use the hg200 use all of your effort to close them ...cuz then you kinda get isometric strength

but you should take longer rest periods when trying to crush the hg200 just to let your muscles and tendons heal properley

this worked for me cuz i can close the hg300 now so i'm sure it will help you too :)

  • @truthfilter I have the entire set. I have tried using the 200 , 300 and 350.

and do half reps with the 200. was up to 4 reps with the 150 now I'm back down to zero reps and cant close it at all now. truth is I do not have the genetics for hand strength so no matter what I do I can not close these grippers. I'll prolly just end up selling them on ebay.

  • will this make my hand bigger and feel stronger when i shake somebody's hand?

  • Comment removed

  • I bought the whole set 6 grippers to work on my grip strength and I was shocked. I could do 30 reps on an old gripper I had gotten as a B-day present years ago. Yet I can only do 4 reps with the 100 lb gripper . and I can do a half rep with the 150 lb gripper . hopefully I will improve my grip strength over time

  • @cactus9889

Getting a good set of hand grippers is usually a wake up call for a lot of folks. It makes them realize just how weak most peoples grip strength really is. I felt this way myself when I bought my first set of grippers and that's what made me so passionate about strengthening my grip strength.

Just stick with them and follow the hand gripper workout that is in the Hand Gripper Training e-Manual and you'll be surprised at how fast your grip strength improves.

  • @leemhayward E-Manual ? Is this E manual online or were they supposed to come with the grippers ? I bought my grippers on amazon. They didn't come with any Manual

  • @cactus9889

The hand gripper manual that I'm referring to is only available from LeeHayward [dot] com. It's not available on Amazon.

  • @leemhayward such a Great Information thanks so much !!!

one question--> Im on 200 right now but only can close 2times so how long will take me to level 250 ? sorry 2nd question is how many times should i train per week ? sorry last question is how many sets should i do per training?

feeling a bit annoyed because so many question? he he he

    Regard From Mongolia...

  • i just ordered all 6 heavy grips off of your website.

  • I use a Heavy Grip 150. My workout consists of normal attemts (8 reps), inverted, negatives and braced attempts. My question is how many sets of reps should I do? Three sets like usual fitness workout or just one set for each type of attemt?

  • i just got the hg 200 for my first gripper and i can do it for around 10 reps. should i move up?

  • @63falcondude

Yes, go heavier. I personally like to do singles and negatives with my hand gripper workouts.
