Throwing a strike moving backwards is not as effective as a strike thrown moving forward. Shogun did this throughout the fight. Also, Lyoto controlled the pace of the fight, thats what his elusive style does. Lyoto was also very effective in the clinch. Shogun's efficiency wasn't as good as Lyoto's. When Lyoto attacked more, he landed combos than Shogun did. on top of the he sped up the fight, controlling the pace. Shogun went for a take down and failed. These are vital points being scored
Everytime Shogun tried to run forward with his combo strikes, he missed. Lyoto was eluding them and countering. When Lyoto ran forward with his hits he was very efficient. In conclusion, I think it was a very tough call for the judges.

Wow. The Shogun/Machida fight was so technical, it was amazing. Machida was puzzled, didn't seem to have an answer. Shogun took his legs away from him. It was exciting. Throwing a strike moving backwards is not as effective as a strike thrown moving forward. Shogun did this throughout the fight. Also, Lyoto controlled the pace of the fight, thats what his elusive style does. Lyoto was also very effective in the clinch. Shogun's efficiency wasn't as good as Lyoto's. When Lyoto attacked more, he landed combos than Shogun did. on top of the he sped up the fight, controlling the pace. Shogun went for a take down and failed. These are vital points being scored

Everytime Shogun tried to run forward with his combo strikes, he missed. Lyoto was eluding them and countering. When Lyoto ran forward with his hits he was very efficient. In conclusion, I think it was a very tough call for the judges.

shogun did everything necessary to prove he is the champion. machida DID NOT do anything to show that he wanted to stay champion. he stood there and got demolished for 4 rounds. and even the one round he could have won, could be considered a draw. you machida fans can cling to anything you want to try and say hes a champion, while the rest of us know that the real champion has what it takes to destroy machida again and take the belt that already belongs to him.

When Shogun is at his best, he is one of the best. (maybe THE best) He won the fight and the judges robbed him.

Wow. The Shogun/Machida fight was so technical, it was amazing. Machida was puzzled, didn't seem to have an answer. Shogun took his legs away from him. It was exciting. I love how no one knew who Machida was until he knocked out Thiago Silva, all of a sudden, he's the next Fedor. MMA is a great sport, but really created a trend of retards. Shogun was the agressor and landed more strikes, he deserves the belt. He won 4 rounds decisively.

I've been a fan since UFC 1 with Royce Gracie (which I saw on the original PPV). When I say Shogun is one of the best, I mean in the LHW class. Shogun looked like crap against Forrest and Mark Coleman, but he was coming off of a long layoff and had injuries. The Shogun we saw last night would have knocked Forrest out within 2 rounds. He beat Machida last night; look at Machida's legs and ribs. If Shogun keeps in the shape he was last night, he will take the belt.

Well, he didn't win the fight last night. The judges scored it for Machida. I know you know that but that's the way it is. I could argue a few points of why Shogun lost and Machida won but it would just be pointless in the end. However, I think it was a very close fight, and at first glance, I would've said Shogun won.

I know that ruling will hurt their bottom line and it sucks because they have no say over it. The judges should be investigated for ties to other organizations.

Silva (who is my favorite fighter) vs Griffin I know Silva should have and did win that fight easily but there was something fishy there. Not a fan of Machida, but to win the belt you need to win the fight without any doubts or splitting rounds. Watching fight again cause I'm in total disbelief SHOGUN didn't win... SO FAR from what I see SHOGUN TOOK round 1, SHOGUN took Round 2, You can argue ROUND 3 but I say SHOGUN with hard kicks.
