  • great song! lol what's up with all the wierd ass nu metal comments??

  • I looked up "A Day by the Lake" without even finishing this song.

  • SYSTEM OF A DOWN IS NOT NU METAL, YOU IDIOTS.

  • shadows....and flames....

    goosebumps, every damn time.

  • we all have our opinions..... lets try to keep the negitive ones to ourselves mkayz? :D

anywho i love this band... whoever dosent can suck penguin balls >:D

  • Ehh, don't understand the praise for this album. This song not as good as the rest of the album, and if so, what's the best song off this album? This song really isn't overly impressive, emotionally or technically. I mean it's not horrible, but less than what I expected considering how many people love this.

  • @Xaxaar Best song off the album I can't really say. My favorite song depends on what mood I'm in. Most often it's probably A Day by the Lake as that's pretty relaxing/peaceful.

  • @Reikken Alrighty, thanks. But am I doing this album a huge injustice by not listening to the whole thing? Some albums are like: You HAVE to listen to the whole thing to just get one song and I'm wondering if this is one of those albums.

  • OH GOD LIKING VARIOUS BANDS IS UNPOSSIBLE LETS ARGUE ABOUT PEOPLES OPINIONS

  • wow nice song! whats up with all the essays everyone left on the comments?

  • Can anybody write any comments without comparing it to anybody else?

  • 8 persons likes lady caca...

  • This obviously sounds like chad kroeger from nickleback guys.

  • Opeth+System Of A Down= Disillusion

  • @Dinonu I made that same conclusion.

  • yes, he sounds like Serj. We can all drop it now.

  • lol at people comparing this to disturbed and soad... idiots

  • anybody else annoyed by the fact that 95% of the comments on this video are about comparing this awesome band to nu metal bands? wtf

  • @AggresssivePerfector I disagree : SOAD is an unique band, not just a lambda nu metal band. I hate Nu-metal so much, but System is one of my favorite band, just because they have an identity, a particular style. But it's this kind of band which doesn't let any middle-thinking : you like or dislike. The link between System and Disillusion are just made because of the singing which is similar at Tankian's at some parts of the song. But be sure that Disillusion is unique too and awesome =)

  • *are only made because of

  • @o0AlundrA0o I love SOAD AND Disillusion, it's just the comments that don't say anything about this amazing band, that bothers me. and I definitely agree with you that soad isn't just some nu metal, their album toxicity is one of the best albums ever, for sure. but back to the times... is also a masterpiece, I just expected people to comment how incredible this song is. IMO it's one of the best metal songs ever and I'm planning to make a drum cover of it, it's so fun to play :D

  • @AggresssivePerfector You have great tastes =D

I understand what you mean : some comments are in the kind "It's like SOAD so it's awesome". And I agree with you : Disillusion is totaly different to SOAD, they have nothing in common, at least some parts of singing, but it's all. They are awesome by different things.

  • Seriously, dis sounds a lot like Serj Tankian from SOAD...

  • Don't you just love when the highest rated comments are completely contextless and insulting?

  • Comment removed

  • 7 people got so mentally floored by this awesome song, that they contracted dyslexia and thought 'dislike' said 'dis i like'.

  • System of a down is the only good nu-metal band ever, They are unique when they came out, Some people just don't like them. This band is fucking sick though

  • SOaD? sucks!

  • The middle of this song is amazing.

  • This album is an important part of my life. This music is so perfect that I cant even fathom it's being written, I feel as if it always just "was"

  • Great song but there is no need to bash System of a Down, another awesome group.

  • The riff on 0:17 is the best thing on this album.

  • @thorwald350 ...uh yea they are, they're actually one of the bands that started the whole nu metal shit craze

  • I like how ambitious this band is, they don't always pull it off but this is a solid album. And I can hear the SOAD comparison, at least in the fact that this song is in a drop-C tuning, and utilizes an Eastern-sounding scale in the opening section.

  • @pinguchan1 Well said, I agree.

  • Man.. the song fell apart when the cliché'd overly melodic clean-vocals part came in. Count me out.

  • @DisembowelMe Totally agree!!!! That´s exactly what´s wrong with most new bands out there today... Melodically and harmonically speaking, they´re very very poor, and that just destroys the nice rythmic approaches they sometimes offer. Bands that can also be strong and innovative in melody and harmony, like PoS or Cynic really blow my mind.

  • @DisembowelMe No. That's exactly when it becomes brilliant.

  • The vocals remind me more of 90's era Arch Enemy, not System of a Down. And besides, all vocal styles can be good if done well and in proper context. Regardless, this is great music, and the vocals work for the song, whether they sound like Johan, Serj or Vurtox.

  • I think it's so funny that people are comparing these vox to system of a down. I was listening to this album the other day and my girlfriend was like 'Oh I didn't know you starting listening to system of a down again' I was like wtf..this really sounds that much like them?? Some parts sound similar but I never would have heard the resemblance if it weren't for other dumb people lol.

  • @ownalot I heard they were excellent live, though.

  • My favourite part is from 0.00 - 8.28

  • Very interersting band, cool mix of progressive metal and melodeath. Sounds very unique.

  • I love how it ends and then starts again! The interlocking harmony is fabulous, no wonder they did it twice.

  • Not particularly original or interesting

  • All of these songs start out great and then he has to open his mouth.....

  • This album is a true masterpiece.

  • Disillusion kinda have the right amount of everything.

  • This album is a masterpiece!!

As far as sounding like soad or being nu metal: are you insane?!

  • @hricardo1977 SOAD = not nu metal, sorry.

  • this is one of the best sounding band to come out of germany man.

  • System of a Down?!!? I thought of Falconer mixed with a metal Jazz band

  • Chuck Norris would have liked to learn this song if he was badass enough to have the right to play it...

  • Greetz from the Netherlands/Holland-Amsterdam

  • Saying there's no similarity to SOAD in the vocals is pretty damn silly. It's obviously there. The music itself is not similar to SOAD at all, the vocalists have very similar voices.

  • @dareisaya Agreed. Sounds a hell of a lot like Serj at points.

  • This is the best opening track on any metal album ever.

  • 0:36

This riff has a ghost reveries vibe

  • @deadbutfree33

I kinda hear it but not so much. Care to point out which song?

  • @JBT24 Not a specific song just the vibe of the album.

It kinda sounds like the overused riff on the grand conjuration though.

  • One of my favourite metal albums.

    Greetings from Hungary.

  • The transition in the middle is just amazing...

  • amazing!!!!!!!

  • great CHORUS! OMG!!!! FUCKING GOOD HARMONIES!

  • WOW it's fucking amazing, 5 starts

  • this band is great!! can you send me a link to dowload this song becouse i not can have it

  • Epic!

  • I hope to God that these guys will come the U.S. some time before I ship out with the Marine Corps.

  • Fuckin slays! going to see them in april in germany, ahahahaha

  • I've never heard of this band before, or even heard them, but let me tell you, they have a new fan..that first 2 minutes is freaking genius.

  • Kinda remind me of Opeth.

  • sounds a bit like melechesh doesnt it

    mesopotamian metal? ;P

  • IT DOES

  • BUT IT KICKS FUCKIN ARSE LOL

  • :O

I never heard of this band before (though I'm german myself xD) and as I heard the intro I just thought whaaat the fuck, this is awesome!

But unfortunately I'm not a big fan of those thrash metal influences :(

    Nevertheless disillusion fuckin rocks!!

    Greetings from Germany ;)

  • GREAT intro - one of the best i ever heared

  • Seriously. The first minute is FUCKING AMAZING.

  • beautiful song, very original!

  • Metal fans/nerds are some of the most judgmental and immature people on the planet. Easily provoked into opposition by something as benign as a different interpretation or point of view.

So fast, and eager, to bash someone else's thoughts and point out inaccuracy and invalidity to the point of near-zealous fervor.

    Kinda like Christians.

Fuck people. Just enjoy the music.

  • haha im both and im nothin like that :P just throwin it out there

  • I think you hang around two many metalheads. You can apply what you said above to "people in general".

  • two many... priceless :D

  • Kind of like any group with a shared belief. I'm not sure why Christians are such a favorite enemy honestly. They're no worse than any other group.

  • @tentril Historically speaking, I don't think there's been a more oppressive religion than Christianity.

  • @gsp1175 That makes it sound like hating Germans because of Nazis is just fine. The actual morals and values behind Christianity are your basic don't kill and don't steal. The only reason the religion is "oppressive" is because too many people get caught up following "authority figures" and forgetting what the religion actually teaches.

  • @tentril I don't mean to make it sound like I'm saying this makes condemning anyone okay, just noting this might be the reason why metal focuses on the religion so much.

  • @gsp1175 That is acceptable then. By the way, thank you so much for handling yourself in a calm fashion. Youtube could use more people like you.

  • @tentril There is still a bunch of completely outdated and retarded morals in the bible, though. It's just that people cherry pick what is considered moral. It's hypocritical, but I'm still thankful for this development.

  • @DisembowelMe That ignores my point though. Christianity is just the teachings Jesus Christ. The main point of it is that believing in Jesus as your savior will get you into heaven. The teachings of Jesus are hardly "outdated and retarded". Anyway we've gotten way too far off topic now lol.

  • @tentril Well, I haven't gotten very far into the exact teachings of Jesus in the bible, but I know for a fact a whole lot of the bible is very much "outdated and retarded", and as such it wouldn't surprise me if Jesus had some role in dragging the bible down morally. The modern portrayal of Jesus' teachings are relevant though, of course, regardless of how far they stray from the original ones.

  • @DisembowelMe Dude... i have NO idea what you guys are talking about.... but that comment was AWESOME hahaha (sorry)

  • True. That is the reason I hang out with normal people.

  • @W1zardHat Congrats, Hypocrite, you just judged two whole "communities", you can look around and find people in both that are true, and don't judge nor are they immature, yes they are hard to find, but that is the same with EVERY scene, people are all alike in different ways, I like metal so to a pop liking person I'm a smelly drunk homeless ass hole and I look like a fag, every "culture" has judgement of others, don't confine it to "Metal and Christians" because if anything metal has the least.

  • nu metal?! AHAHAHHAHA

funny how people that don't know what they are talking about still bother to post comments!

This is one of the best metal albums of all times!! Hope they return back to this time of splendor and make another album like this one!!

  • singer reminds me of johan liiva that used to be in arch enemy.

  • Hell yeah, awesome progressiveness!!!

  • this sounds nothing like soad, not even the singer. there is nothing similar.

  • His voice is similar, his vocal style is not.

  • Comment removed

  • @slipvyne The style doesn't sound like SOAD, but I disagree about the singer... his singing voice really reminded me of Serj

  • a good band from germany.

    do you believe it?

    I do.

because i am out of the same town

  • My favourite band!!! =D

  • Nice..

  • System of a down fails as a metal band

    all nu metal is trash

just an opinion dont be so alarmed

  • Nothing like Nu Metal.

How does this sound like Disturbed?

  • @serasvictoriax no fockin way

  • Um, maybe you should think before you post. This music is more complex and more interesting than nu metal.

  • @CubedSpagetti i hate system! there singer sounds like he should do opera instead and all their drop-D bull shit is hella easy.

  • @666metalsucks666 Shut the hell up, System of a Down are an amazing band.

  • @CubedSpagetti SOAD is great. Its just different. If there is a good nu metal band its them. You have to listen to their music more as rock then metal...

  • @CubedSpagetti I may (or may not) agree with your opinions, but I think we can both put our bigboy pants on, accept uncle chuckles molested us, stop trolling worthlessly, and learn the difference between stating something as a fact and getting butthurt when people tell you that you're wrong, and an opinion.

  • @CubedSpagetti

No, there is one nu metal album in the world, which is really awesome - trust me, coz aside of this album I totally relate to your view that nu metal sux. Try testing out the "conscious EP" of dredg.

  • @CubedSpagetti if you're listening to this crappy band, it doesnt seem liek you know what metal is.

You hear a blast beat and a dude scream in a mic and think its metal as shit

and as im typing to you i just heard the clean vocals, and that should be enough said -.-

  • @CubedSpagetti System of a what?

  • @CubedSpagetti Opinion or not, I will be alarmed. This song and band are fucking amazing but don't bring System of a Down, another great band, into the discussion. Both bands are awesome, period.

  • @CubedSpagetti SOAD isn't nu metal and they're an awesome band.

  • I think the vocalist for Disillusion sounds similar to System of a Down. That's a good thing though.

  • This is true

  • you don`t know anything

  • I'm about to get Back to the Times of Splendor along with The Sword's Age of Winters. I know I'll be pleased with both very much.

  • BTTOS is like one of the best metal albums in history i think. it's nothing less but a masterpiece.

  • This song is SICK!!!!!!!!

like a raging storm crushing everything in its way! really powerful...

well, looks like less ganja for me! :D

    peace!

  • I wish they would record another album i loved this one and gloria was different but i still liked it

  • what the hell , GREAT SONG !!!!

  • Easily one of the better progressive metal albums.

  • amazing *.*

  • ... I think I just came on my feet. I'm buying this as soon as possible.

  • is it just me or does the vocalist really sound like serj from system of a down when he sings melodics...

  • A little maybe...but if you listen to some other songs, you'll recognize that his voice is more variable than Serj's

  • I agree, my friend pointed that out to me today, in some of the "clean" parts he sings he sounds like Serj.

  • EXACTLY!!! :-D...

  • Comment removed

  • Fucking perfect song. convinced me to buy the whole album...

  • I want more Hardcore ~Egyptian~ Metalz

    lol

    This song is amazing

    Its in my Top~13

Also check out the song Back to Times of Splendor... or else

  • If you want "egyptian" Metal check out Orphaned Land, Nile, some songs from Amorphis (e.g. "Perkele") or Beneath the Mire from Opeth

  • ya, opeth is always a good choice

  • Dont forget some of Iced Earth.

  • or lykathea aflame

  • yeah definitely get Orphaned Land's Mabool

  • perfect :P

  • ...Again I behold the ruins

that I left when I was all devoured by wrath...

    <3

  • This band is amazing. I can't believe I've never heard of them

  • Disillusion ist so eine geile Band... beide Alben, auch wenn das einige nicht sehen wollen... einfach genial.

  • Ich wusste gar nicht, dass es derartigen Prog in Deutschland gibt...

Totally awesome, one of the best german Prog Metal bands I heard yet!

  • Beide? "The Porter" vergssen?

  • Ja stimmt, hab ich vergessen, sorry

  • this tha shit!!! unmatched , chrous part brillant!!

  • So good. So so so good.

  • best prog metal album in the world

  • too good

  • Without words.... Back to times of Splendor is ''The Album''

    I prefer this than Gloria...

  • The most awesome first song of an album ever!

    The rythm,the power,the sound...

    Gone love it!

  • I like it dude

    keep it metal

  • Wow! Great song!

  • amazing album.. amazing song.

can someone upload the rest of BtoS?

    plz!!!

  • One of the best metal songs ever.

  • Yep, and one of the greatest albums as well.

  • This is one of the only albums I would ever come close to even describing as flawless.

  • While I agree that Back to Times of Splendor is much better than Gloria, Gloria is still rather good.

  • I agree that this is a great song. I actually kind of like Gloria, though it's completely, completely different.

  • one of the reasons why i love gloria.

if they did another BtOS, the first one would not be as unique as it is.

they spice it up a bit, i like that.
