do you think these are the right breeds to go hog hunting with?

there 5 weeks old so im thinking to train them really young but i need some advice from you

@GoSensGo9165 Catahoulas are good tracking and bay dogs for hogs and the pits are usually very good at catching pigs. I have never worked with Rots for hogs at all. Start them off with small hogs that they can take and then move them up. When they are older you can bring them to hunt on our property if you want.

where is the most common area to find wild boar? I want to try just free hunting wild boar cause I got me a new tag for boar, and am fixing up my mossberg 500 for it to take more shells so it wont run out if a boar decides to charge me.

@rednecklXl Why can't he take a shotgun hog hunting? If you shoot large buckshot like 0000, 000, or 00 at close ranges then a shotgun will do fine. Better yet he can use a rifled slug, or a sabot slug with a slug barrel, or even a plain lead round ball that fits the bore diameter of his shotgun. Also you're half right with a the hog charge part. They don't usually charge but if they're aggressive enough they can charge and the result can be lethal for the hunter or the hunted. -Cheers

Why do people bother hog hunting with these lanky ass dogs hunt with some real dogs pit bulls or pit masstiff mix dogs are the best you need a dog with drive and power a trait that pits naturally have

@cruzcyclone35 I beg to differ with you, I have four dogs, a blue tick, and a redbone, they do the tracking and lock on and chase when the track gets hot. These hounds will out run my catch dogs to death. when they are at bay then I release my catch dogs witch are a male and female Dogo. Sounds like you dont know nor never have hunted hogs with dogs. Bulls and Dogos And American Pits have not the nose to make you successfull on a hog hunt. Thats why you need hounds, thats why you need catch dogs

not a russian boar, wild american hog yes, maybe part russian boar from the originals that were brought over 200 years ago but the hogs in america are a cross between russian bores and feral pigs.

@zenman223 it is a pure Russian because these hogs were imported in that area. Most of the other hunts we do in other areas the hogs are about 75% feral hog and 25% European bloodline.
