Great video, which made me even more pleasure to the La Marmotte and has especially encouraged me to purchase a helmet camera. Thank you again for that and a healthy, happy and easy-round success in 2011. This year I want to be with the Les 3 Ballons and the Engadine Cycle Marathon with a helmet camera at the start. Perhaps the Ötztaler, if I have luck of the draw. Well, then all the best and please do keep it up.
Great video. Love it. Well chosen music, I watch this video many times and I never get tired. Muy buen video. La música es muy buena. Greetings from here to all the Marmotte racers. Vive La Marmotte!
Nice video man! Last year(2009) I turned 18 and could finally ride the Marmot! Eventually I did it in 9h and like 10 minutes.. but the Alpe d'Heuz was killing me.. literally crawled up that mountain!
What an inspiring video. I just started cycling last year, this year I'll tackle an easier cyclo. Gradually building up to 2012, then I want to start in the Marmotte. What a superb performance you did there! Truly amazing.
Great video, glad you took your camera along to record it. I have entered the 2010 Marmotte (my first European sportive) and am looking forward to it! :)
What a stunning video and soundtrack! It makes my hair stand on end. I'm riding this as my first European sportive next July and I'm shaking aleady... ;-)
Very welldone on the video and your times guys, i did 9'20 on my first marmotte!! i had a bad 3inch tear in my rear tyre decending col du glandon (luckily no bang! ouch!) & two french riders guided me to a cycle shop giving me a FREE TYRE!! VIVA-LA-FRANCE!!!!!
Well done, great time. I had hoped to be a few minutes better, but like you, the heat on Alpe d'Huez turned it into survival on the climb. My goal for my eighth Marmotte next year is under the eight hours. I don't think I'll get near the 7:41 that I did in 2002, but under the eight hours would be good.
Well done on your time, am over there in three weeks to have a crack at the route and do some other climbs as well. Great footage, which camera did you use for this ?
I use a Canon Ixus 860 IS, and hold it in the hand. It's more a camera for taking photos, but it's small, fits nicely in the back pocket, and the video quality is great for a film like this.
i rode the marmotte for the first time on saturday...having said that it was the first time i have riden in the alps being only 18 and did 11h11min quite chuffed.....very good footage and camera
Well done, Mattieoo. Saturday was a very tough day with the heat, especially on the Alpe d'Huez. It will get a little easier after the first - you know what's coming.
Great video Russell, fab momento for me. I'll upload my short video of the descent from La Freney to La Garde (Dutch Corner) on the D211E. See you. Tim
Just start the training for this years event. This video is very stimulating! Thanx so much.
Nice music tooooo :)

I was there also, I did it in 8h 04'.
27 minutes better than in 2008, my goal was to do it under the 8 hours, but the heatness on Alpe d'Huez was killing me!

Thanks for this superb video registration, Russell !
You were just a little before me, because I had approx. the same time and started 8:05. I embedded both your video's on my website.
Best regards,
