Thanks for checking out the lights! Currently right in the middle of building up another 70 lights. Check out the web-site link in the "description" and you'll be able to find the price listing as well as a ton more info. Or you can email me directly. Thanks!
Exactly. User controllable from about 70 lumens up to 500. Keep in mind that's pure red, not full spectrum white, so that 500 lumens number is weighted completely differently than a white LED. The headlight version of this light (DS-1300) puts out around 1300 lumens.
The night video was made with the light on Level 5, which is the full 500 lumen output... capable of setting barns on fire from a half mile away. Seriously though, you are completely right. Never run at night with this much power, very dangerous. I made the video at the full power level just so you could get the effect. At night you can turn it down. In the daytime it's brighter than anything you've seen, even on emergency vehicles.
@recumbentracer Yes indeed. That's good thinking building in the ability to change the power output. That gives the user flexibility in certain conditions.
I would love to have one of these myself. Great product :)
Sorry you're having trouble finding the lights! The light is my own design, but I'm now having the case components professionally machined. I do all the electrical, LED integration, programming, and testing before selling. The case is good bit more refined now, but the functionality remains the same as in the video. These are super high-end lights. Not cheap, but an excellent value for the performance. Email me at DesignShineLighting@gmail.com.
Nice. Agree about 200 lumens at night plus strong blinkies work well. I suggest the Planet Bike Turbo, or the PDW Dangerzone, as IMHO the Superflash is useless in full sun especiallya lowering one when the are washed out.
YES! It very much has the capability of being WAY too bright at night. The night video was made at the highest power level, just to show how ridiculously bright it is. The controller allows 5 brightness levels, so at night, it needs to be turned down to level 3 or lower. In the daytime, the high power is just fantastic. It draws the eye from MILES away. Not too bright, just very attention getting. Brightness AND controllability is the key.
on another note, since u have 2 heads for nightime use it would be much better if you flashed one and steady burned the other set of 3 leds. the reason for this would be that the flash IS too bright (is there such a thing?! lol) and will actually be MORE dangerous as it blinds drivers then it's dark they look for the flash again and get a direct hit of light and are blinded again. this is how emergency vehicles get clobbered. a steady light w/flash gives people something to track in the dark.
@steeltown98 Thanks! Great comment and you're exactly right. At night, the ideal solution is to throttle back to level 3 or lower (200 lumens or less) in steady mode. Combined this with a low-cost flasher like the PB and you have an unbeatable nighttime solution. I've made some nice refinements since the video and now have a preliminary product brochure available on this light (along with a 1500 lumen matching headlight). Just email a request to DesignShineLighting@gmail.com for a copy.
Just recovered from my epileptic SEIZURE after watching this video. Just a few comments: One, I agree with the previous poster that you should patent this. Two, I feel really sorry for the people who live on your street: "Honey, I seen one of 'em UFOs! This blinding light came outta nowhere and flew right by me!" Three, great job editing. The jazz fusion was a nice touch :-)
@mik22pik Thanks for the comment. I started out thinking that this would be a big cost saver over the current high power offerings (Dinotte etc.), but in reality, not so much. I've built a few for friends, but it's literally $100 in raw materials just for the light and housing. Not to mention, the Chinese are flooding the market with MagicShine. But you're right, nothing can touch this for concentrated lumen output in such a small package (85 grams).
Can that be set for white light for the front.

Yes, there is a matching 1300 lumen headlight, called the DS-1300. More videos available on it as well.

500 lumens?!?!? Holy crap. Almost as bright as the crappy 9004 halogen bulbs I had on my first car that only produced 700 lumens lol.

Definitely the brightest bicycle light I've ever seen but it looks like way too much for use at night (at least for approaching vehicles).
Does appear to be every bit as bright, if not brighter, than that of a current technology emergency vehicle light.

@Auxiliary84 You'll want to check out my new video which shows the final version:
Search for DesignShine Taillight here on YouTube. Much more detail here on how to mount.
Then send an email to
DesignShineLighting@gmail.com
and request the tech brochure. From there if you want one, just let me know. I currently have 5 in build with 3 spoken for. Thanks.

Classic John Tesh... 1988 Tour de France. Too funny. Maybe I should call it the "UFO."

What a great idea, it's brilliant.
I never seen anything coming close to what you have!
Need to move fast, get patent lawyer, you posted for the world to see and copy.
Can you build in a breaking circut for motorcycles, wink wink!
Mass market it'll sell in the millions, how many zero's is that for ya?
Well done!!
