I know this video was posted a long time ago, but can you tell me what kind of ruler that is? Or what the brand name is? I really like the size and that piece that sticks up to protect your hands. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I've made some journals similar to this and to cover the spaces between the signatures that may be unsightly, just use some cordinating colored ribbon and tie the ribbon in a Square Knot at the top of your journal. You can also tie ribbons through the centers of the signatures, this will stregnthen the binding for the wear/tear of future use and secure the signatures more tightly to the cover. This will also keep them from coming away from the cover, as mine can sometimes do. :D
I really really like this, this is so much cheaper then buying scrapbooks, and the uniqueness is charming. I'm going to use this for scrapbooking and art journaling thank you so much, you are a lovely young lady.
absolutely love this. and i want a ruler like that! looks awesome. uhmm... do you have the more advanced version that shows you how to get rid of the space between sigs? would love to know how to do that!
I can't THANK YOU enough for your video! All I have to do to finish mine is the cover. I used one of my sons old school books. Not sure if you've thought of it by now BUT... instead of hand sanding I used my dremel & 120 grit bit came out pretty good for Book #1. I've always had a hard time keeping a "Journal" but Im a Born crafter so when my shrink told me to keep a journal I thought ART Journal.... BOY is she in for it!!! Thanks again BeadLJuice
What a fantastic idea and also great for recycling both my old college composition notebooks and beat up manilla folders offices would otherwise throw out!
Thank you very much for posting this! I love journaling and I've journaled since I was a little kid but I've never tried an illustrated journal or art journal before. I've been using sketch books for a while just messing around and I think once I am comfortable with writing, collaging and drawing and anything else all in the same book (I'm kind of a perfectionist and a neat and tidy person...) I'll try making my own journal! =) Thanks again!
im making one as we speek , mine is a little over a5 , im using artist acrylic paper (lovely weight and i have 3 sheets per signiture with more stitches thanyours , its lookin good so far
I loved making mine!! It turned out great and I can't wait to work in it! With practice, I could probably do one in 30 minutes, but I took my time and it probably took more like an hour and a half...maybe two hours, but it was fun and now I have a cool, sturdy journal for art journaling! Thank you!!! Keep the videos coming!! :)
Hi, I came by you through "Googling" How To Make A Journal. I am practicing making mine more tidy, cos they are such a mess! lol Love the video and your blog!
Thank you SO much for sharing this! I've been dying to make my own journals. I have all the supplies but the comp book and manilas, but I can't wait to make one :)
I love making my journals too and my first journal I made (and am still using...still a newbie here) is very similar to this book...I followed a tutorial on Teesha Moore site...but alas the sole difference is that instead of canvas board you use the cover off a discount store journal!!!! How genius! I alter these all the time to you as inspo journals and notebooks so I have tons of these. The next time I make a art journal i will try this idea out, thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you so much, for always sharing the wonderfully creative ways you art journal (and make art journals :D). I too have been intimidated by book-binding stitches, but being shown makes all the difference. And I love that you're using Manila folders! How perfect are they for the abuses we heap on our pages?
YOU'RE THE BEST! I must make one of these BUT I am very intimidated by the stitching. I'll have to play this video over and over again until I get it cuz I must have one of these!! Thanks so much!!
Thanks so much for posting this! I have more than one book on book binding and have never tried it because it seemed too difficult. Seeing you do it makes it a lot more clearer. You're awesome! :P
yay! thanks for this. I have a bunch of folders I just ran across and thought about throwing out, 2 days later you post this! I want one! =D Love your vids
