I know, after "La tortura" she kinda started to change her style. It's still enjoyable to listen to her but it's lost the depth of those songs. The lyrics were so real, down to earth, and simple. It kind of showed the imperfection, flaws, and complexes women had towards themselves and that was what was so great about them. As long as she likes what she's doing and the audience enjoys her music/performances, I guess that's all that matters.

not entirely true..there's alot of artists who do not want to sign to record labels because they have alot of say so in what artists do with their music and profits..take Atmosphere for example and immortal technique..they didnt sign to record labels because the record labels wanted an almost 100% profit..and record labels work with mostly the records but theyre paying for your image and for your talent..so doing what they say is what they want u to do for the money they pay you..thats how it is

Record labels deal with records. They have very little to do with the live show. Very little. Mostly just the way a star is allowed to dress and image-related things. They might've said "it would help us market your image if you'd..." but they can't force a star to do anything live. Also, a star of Shakira's caliber is going to have artistic license, meaning she's going to control her own output to a large extent. She writes/sings what she wants (again, they can suggest, but that's it).
