the monome is controlling the keyboard. there isnt any sounds in the monome

No, the computer is sampling the synth. Monome controls the samples that are then recorded.

No, the Monome is controlling a Max/MSP patch in the computer, not the keyboard. The audio from the keyboard is being sampled into that same Max patch.

Monome is not a MIDI controller. You can use software to decode it's output and create MIDI messages but in this case it is not acting as a sequencer for the synth.

simple solution: youre using a pc right? the built in pc driver has lag, so u have to download the ASIO audio driver and use that one in your program
