@zlEpiphoneSheraton it took all my time to nearly learn it and at the time - probably still - I don't have the skills to improvise on a fast rock track ... louder .. if only ... small room in a semi-detached house!
@zlEpiphoneSheraton I know what you're saying ... but I am an amateur bedroom strummer and these vids are mainly for fun and to record learning progress and maybe get some tips / guidance on improving. I'm not trying to show off my prowess.
@zlEpiphoneSheraton No, not fair and I really don't agree. You honestly rhink that the only people that should post music videos online are those that have mastered the songs - to a professional standard?
That's not right.
You gotta leave room for all of us mere mortals that are still learning and just having fun!
@MrClose2u No, not at all. But why show the world an unfinished piece? Makes it seem like a pointless project in the first place. Nah I understand what your saying though, If your just having a bit of fun then there's nothing wrong with that.
@zlEpiphoneSheraton Well we kind of reached some agreement there - that's good. This was as finished as I was able to make it at the time of recording with the skills I had practiced and developed then. So not perfect, but as good as I could get it without spending hours and hours and hours on the same 20 seconds of lead guitar! Sometimes you've just gotta know when to move on and learn from something fresh! lol
Timing isn't 100% correct but it still is awesome ;) And your screwup at the beginning is totally awesome man :) I can play this song too but I've written my own solo.
@CiRcAsk8xTyrant .. the solo is too fast !!... I struggled to keep up ... it's the fastest piece I've ever learned to play .. thaks for watching and commenting :-)
Great video. Although this is the right way to play i play it differently. I have the base for the powerchords on the A string. Personally I think it sets the solo up much more easily. Good video dude!
@MrClose2u yes it is, the melody is pretty correct but the timing sucks :D listen to the original solo very carefully and compare it to your version, youll notice it yourself too. :)
@Suomiheke I never wrote that I played it great ... this was the most difficult and fastest solo I'd ever attempted to learn and play ... I wrote in a guitar forum when I did this ...
... "It's not a perfect take ... I can't believe I messed up the opening intro [D'oh!! ] ... The solo came together nicely as I was learning it ... but ... there's a descending lick at the 12th fret that is the fastest lick I have ever played ... I can play it well at 95% speed as part of the full song, I can play it equally well at 100% speed as a stand alone solo ... but to do the full song and hit the solo just right at 100% ... phew ... I didn't quite pull it off ..."
... so I am aware that I didn't perfect it ... I am a (very) part time bedroom strummer with a (very) full time job and at the time of recording this had only been learning to play lead guitar for about 8 months ...
@xLooneyCORE if you want to alternate srum then do it ... but this song is a downstrum song throughout the chords imho .... and don't look if it makes you dizzy
ah yeah, ha i noticed the video about 10mins after commenting on this! lool! but yeah thanks anyway! Hey, do u know where you can buy these? because i really do love the look, maybe a black one!
btw, how do you record? is it just the sound from the mic on your camera?
Up to now I have played with the BT from a CD player and/or played with BT going into 'AUX in' of amp from iPod ... either way I recorded both at same time on vid camera microphone. For this track I changed and had BT in headphones then added it later in MovieMaker - I had to sync it but I was happier at being able to balance the levels between the two afterwards.
i've tried some different stuff, but now im doing it like this: phones out from amp to line in on the soundcard. then i put my big speakers into the line out of the soundcard, so I hear myself and the backing at the same time through the speakers. mixcraft only records the sound of my guitar, wich i sync to the backing afterwards(wich i shouldnt have to do, but must because of some lagg when i record). I put a sample of a rec with new amp on justin's site btw, you can check it out if you want =)
Hey, i just discovered you are using a Vox VT! I've just ordered a VT100 for myself, tried it in the store, and it blew me away! Are you satisfied with yours? Seems like a great amp!
Wow - you're gonna be one loud rocker! The Vox is fantastic - I haven't really played it that much yet. I've now got a DA5 and a VT15. Both great for home use but not enough oomph for anything else I suspect. I'm a bedroom strummer so I guess that's okay. Will probably get rid of one as they do a similar job. I wish the VT15 had an AUX in like the DA5 does so I could run my iPod through it.
haha, yeah, im trying to make a band now, and hopefully do some giggs someday, so I need an amp with some balls! Luckily I have some good speakers for my backingtracks, so aux isnt that important. I'm really looking forward to playin it, comes in two or three days from sweden! ...btw, how do you record? is it just the sound from the mic on your camera?
Thanks for checking this out and commenting. I've played guitar a while but it is just 8 months ago I learned the pentatonic scale position 1 and have built from there!
wow, awesome! =D Finally some real Rock n Roll! Very good playing! Only thing is, maybe some small part of the solo was a little "stiff". But, thats only details, 5 stars indeed.
Very good man, I like it a lot. I think you rolled your tone pot back a little too much, tony would do it by about a fourth. He would also use a really thin tone, Almost no bass and about half mids with full treble starting at the paranoid album. Real good job though, pretty much nailed the solo and the SG is awesome. Who makes those?
It also makes it sound a bit more like the real version if you add the octave harmony to the intro
Thanks for taking the time to write in depth ... tone pot was about 2 so maybe too low ... I don't have the software to combine different videos (octave harmony etc.) so it's a 1 take 1 guitar version ... I was about 95% there with the solo - just a small mess up on the fastest section ... the SG is a 1982 Yamaha SG400 - I made a video about it on my channel
Awesome playing, so many feeling in the solo
