  • "Well the earth's thrown into chaos. Earthquakes, floods, but that's fine, you knit your sock." lmao

  • I thought Jerry Garcia was Father Mushroom.

  • 7:47 Toad, go back to Mario!

  • @HuskySapphire To be accurate, I think it's "I'm on the prowl!"

  • LMFAO @ 8:22

mike's laughing made it 10x funnier. i love it when they laugh at each others jokes XD.

  • "who's talking?"

  • I've watched this episode at least fifteen times, and I just caught the "Goodfellas" reference.

  • The movie that dares to ask the question, will he find the dwarf?

  • 8:03

What's that "I'm Hans" line referring to?

  • @CarolinaOcelot i believe its refering to the Hanz and Franz SNL skits with dana carvey

  • @CarolinaOcelot

I think it's from the movie Hans Christian Anderson, where he walks around singing "I'm Hans Christian Anderson!" with his hand on his hips like the guy was doing.

  • And to think I made him lunchables! ;~;

  • OMG first Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, and now the song of Tom Bombadil!!

    Hey dol, merry-dol!! Tom Bombadillo!!

  • Is it weird that I'm caught off-guard by the repeated mentions of Finland.

We don't get mentioned enough in modern media enough for my liking.

  • Korpiklaani should have done the intro music for this episode

  • "You mustn't forget your mother!"

And he promptly disappears and we never see his mother again, even at his wedding. "Don't worry." Pssh.

  • @PaperbackWizard Technically, that's not so much him forgetting about her, it's the producers! Hey-o!

  • Peter must be going around denying everyone!

  • I'd hit it.

  • "♫ Oh what a beautiful ьфырлфвфлувм, Oh what a beautiful ьщылщпфеефжлщ. ♪ "

  • Peter must be walkin around denying everybody this morning.

  • Now start runnin', SHROOM!!!

  • i thought this would be that crappy slasher film but this one needs butchered to

  • my hair is talking to me

  • I'm really hoping this is a terrible adaptation of Russian folk tales. It would just be sad if their folk tales were really this obtuse.

  • @EponymousKid I saw something on the IMDB boards awhile ago with a Russian person defending this movie as a part of their culture and calling all the people who ribbed it (all, MST3K fans) insensitive and ethnocentric. It was just one or two people, but they seemed to take it pretty seriously.

  • Mike: So the first plotpoint involves knitting socks. I think we're in for quite a ride, guys!

    I concur. :)

  • The world's thrown into chaos, earthquakes, floods - but that's fine, you knit your sock.

  • just WHAT exactly is that mutated lollipop the evil stepdaughter sucking on in her sleep? Is it candy or a body part??? yeegh...

  • @customcartoons You mean the shape? I'm relatively sure it's a chicken or rooster

  • The movie that dares to ask the question: Will he find the dwarf?

  • "yeah, I've eaten those and had this happen." at the mushroom guy. LOL

  • "You're going down,Shroom boy!"

  • Tom: Who's talking?

  • sad how I didn't get the LOTR jokes when I first watched this.

  • How about a little sugar for the rooster?

  • It's Rex ma'am

  • You know, Mike, I think I just don't like evil Russo-Finnish grandmas.

  • SURGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hmmm....This movie is confusing AND Finnish. It' must all be part of Ilya Muromets' plan!

  • @amcint01 Confusing and Finnish, might that be redundant?

  • "I can talk to my supervisor if you like!" Bwark.

"This is the Sun. Your call is very important to us, but due to unusual call volume..."

"Hey, wake up and go to sleep."

    "Who's talking?" lol

  • I love how indifferent the dog is most of the time.

2:36-2:50 I love it when they do a string of riffs like this

The passage of time in this movie is kind of weird. Is this taking place in summer? Fall?

"Yeah, I've eaten those and had this happen to me"

    "Are you freaking out yet?"

In Soviet Russia, MUSHROOMS grow YOU!

  • I always pick that little guy off of my pizza.

  • You mincing little fungus!

  • Servo's singing "Wacky, Kooky, Scene" along with the music has me in tears all these years later.

  • The Ozark Mountain Daredevils plan their next album.

  • "The movie that dares to ask the question, 'Will he find the dwarf?'"

  • Is this girl dubbed by the same person who did the kid in Pod People?

  • "Well, the chores are done for the day..."

  • So basically Ivan's vague journey is the equivalent of a modern-day "backpack trip through Europe"?

  • I love the omelette joke.

  • SUUUUURGE!!!

This is a test of the emegency broadcast...chicken.

  • I like that this film used the word "braggart"....you don't hear that word much in the age of "self esteem" issues.

  • Frodo gets drunk and screws with his neighbours.

  • He catches that mushroom guy who tells him that his princess is in another castle. So annoying.

  • @koopakilla89

I always hated it when that happened.

  • She's so hideous when she sleeps.

    Get a haircut, hippie!

  • Now start runnin' shroom.

  • Beep "This is the sun your call is very important to us, but due to unusually high call volume..."

I about fell out of my chair laughing at that XD

  • "Fins celebrate the new year by hurling giant beef sticks high into the air"

  • This is a test of the emergency broadcast chicken. Had this been an actual emergency, you would be dead by now.

  • "Hey, wake up and go to sleep."

"Snow white and the one normal person." =D

This... This is pretty damn funny... XD

    My lungs hurt again...

  • does it get any better than this?

this has to be the funniest MST3K in my book.

  • I AM FREAKING OUT YET

  • If she had knitted instead of talking to the rooster and sun she would've been done in time anyway. :P

  • "wow the suns really bookin' it" lolz

  • "I'm Hans! Oh forget it."

  • "I thought Jerry Garcia was father mushroom?" Freaking epic win lol

  • "I dabble in sorcery a little, but the truth is I get bored."

    "You get bored?"

    "I get bored."

    "Do you get bored?"

  • So the first plot point involves knitting socks. I think we're in for quite a ride, guys!

  • Why does the little girl remind me of a Disney princess?

  • @cchasler She talks like them in that weird breathy voice AND has an evil step somethingorother

  • @cchasler

If John Lasseter is an MST3K fan maybe Nanunushka will be the next Disney princess. She certainly has the whole "girl with a crappy life who somehow has a pleasant, hard working personality" part down pat.

  • @cchasler

Whoops her name is Nastia not Nanunushka. Don't know why I thought it was the latter.

  • Take this job and shove it. Just once in awhile it would be nice to see a fairy tale adaptation that features a heroine with a spine.

  • @AuburnRed1

I just love how, later in the movie, the heroine is rewarded when she does the "right" thing, insisting that she's FINE, just fine, really, no problem at all, when she's actually in fact dying of the cold.

  • @copperandbrick

That part got to me too! Maybe she should have been rewarded for honesty (Yes actually I am cold) rather than for some false modesty. :P

  • "goofywackyfunny scene, goofyfunnygoofy scene, hahahahaha"

  • "Now I gotta keep stirring the sauce, deliver these guns to Jimmy.." Goodfellas reference for the win.

  • Maybe it's because I know the Russians, but I seriously LOVE this episode. Sometimes it's nice when they watch weird movies instead of just awful movies.

  • not the best episode :/

  • "She's so hideous when she sleeps."

"Oh the world's been thrown into chaos, earthquakes, floods, but that's fine, you knit your sock!"

"The Ozark Mountain Daredevils plan their next album."

"And the cudgels came down way early the next winter, and maimed several children."

    "Finally, I have a boyfriend!"

"The movie that dares to ask the question: will he find the dwarf?"

  • 9:23-9:27

    Star Trek: TOS reference.

  • @SinnFein4ever

"How about a little sugar for the rooster!" "This is a test of the emergency broadcast chicken" "Peter must be walkin' 'round denyin' everyone this morning" "*clears throat* Ah ah ah ah aaaahh!"

Is it just me or does Ivan's mom completely disappear from the story after her one scene?

Father Mushroom is the best riff fuel in the whole episode

  • Crow: The human schnauzer... LMAO!!!

  • "peter must be denying everyone this morning" oh man i laughed

  • why did they even bother dubbing this movie in english? haha

  • Hey Dol Deri Dol Tom Bombadillo

  • @BattleM012 "Are you freaking out yet?"

  • "Danny Bonaduce is Sleeping Beauty.'

  • Tom: Well the world's thrown into chaos. Earthquakes, floods but thats fine, you knit your sock!

  • Maybe Russian films can only be understood by Russians.

  • I'll strip if you want me to...

  • "Thank you, rosy-fingered dawn!" "SOmeday I'll return the favor..." X3

  • SUUUUUURRRRGE!!!!

  • ah, 90's nostalgia,

  • Servo: Who's talking?

    XD

  • "whelp. the chores are done for the day..." I love Mike's accent when he delivers this line.

  • Do not fuck with Finland. They will beat your ASS down.

  • LOL, the parental abuse in Russian folktales can give Roald Dahl a real run for his money!

  • Screw Alice in Wonderland....this is way cooler

  • @Denkzo5 Yeah, I don't think Tim Burton could handle this!

    XD

  • damn mushrooms

  • *loads bow*"Start running 'Shroom!"

  • finally i have a boyfriend ...lol

  • Froddo gets drunk and screws with his neighbors... wasnt expecting that, hilarious!

  • "If disappearing elf hide-and-seek were in the Olympics then Finland would be in great shape."

  • "I thought Jerry Garcia was father mushroom."

  • I remember Surge. Wonder why they stopped making it.

  • This is the sun, your call is very important to us, but due to incredibly high call volume...

  • "I'll strip if you want me to..."

Uh, no, keep your clothes on, please.

    XD

  • Ok, so in Russia all the old women are ugly as sin, while the younger women are always beautiful super-models. What the hell gives?

  • Genetics lol.

  • They peak really early and then degrade very quickly?

  • @snikt2k10 Yeah, really, there's no middle ground!

    XP

  • Damn, when you watch this movie in Russian as a child, you don't see anything weird about it. Then later on in life you notice how well that ugly bitch sucks that damn lollipop! lol I'm horrible. >;]

  • Haha, yes, I agree completely! I saw this in Ukraine and it was amazing, everything looked so awesome.

But now.. MST3K did a great job of tearing it to shreds, I love it!

  • @lecovsky Ok it's not just me then? Thank God! lol

  • @PyrozPlayground I wish they did more old Russian movies. Watching this one with Mike was hilarious and it felt very warm and personal too. At least to me :P

  • @lecovsky Pretty much! hehe

  • @abombinreverse quoting this show kinda makes it feel like the show never left even though the ppl of mst3k are actually doing current movies under a new name

  • Hey Dol Deri Dol Tom Bombadillo....I always love their lord of the rings references

  • MSTied or not I love this movie, it's funny in its own right, and that brunnet girl is so unbelievably adorable. Still, the riffing only doubles the goodness.

  • I love watching this episode so close to christmas! :D

  • 'I cant BELIEVE you finished your work ONTIME!

I hate you you stupid bitch! allow me to make MORE work for you!'

    I'm sorry what?

  • Peter must be walking around denying everybody this morning. :D

World's thrown into chaos, earthquakes, floods, but whatever, you knit your sock!

The first plot point involves knitting socks, I think we're in for a wild ride, boys! :D

  • @AuburnRed1 I'm missing the reference. What does the Peter line mean?

  • @EternalGuardian07

In the Bible, Peter denied Jesus three times before the cock/rooster crowed.

  • @AuburnRed1 lmao Now I see how hilarious that joke is.

  • His talk with the mushroom gets awfully repetitive for such a short talk. I think the argument between Joe Don and the little boy in Mitchell had less repetition.

  • "This is the sun. Your call is very important to us but due to unusually high call volume..."

  • This is the best movie ever! I think I would like it even without the riffing! Goofy as hell, but great entertainment.

  • True.

  • "Oh, I'll type in things we heard in the video without knowing why"

  • We know why we post our favourite lines; it's you that doesn't. =]

    "Do you get bored?"

  • "Oh the world's thrown into chaos, earthquakes and floods, but that's ok, you knit your socks!"

  • Oh what a beautiful *russian giberish*

Oh what a beautiful *more russian giberish*

  • 8:30 servo singing LOL and he makes mike laugh.

  • Ahem... lololololololololololmaolololololrotflololololololol. Thank you.

  • "hes got playboys" lol

  • "Huh, Peter must be walking around denying EVERYONE today!"

  • A reference to the Hans Christian Anderson musical! Awesome! X)

  • "Ah, the world's thrown into chaos, earthquakes, floods, it's okay. You knit your SOCK."

  • LOL when the sun says "and you are...?"

  • " This is a test of the emergency broadcast chicken"

  • I uh, still don't know what the hell I'm watching.

  • You're watching my favorite episode of MST3K

  • "Man, Peter must be walking around denying EVERYBODY this morning!"

"Well, the chores are done for the day..."

  • Is that dude Ivan and SAME GUY from THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE and The Magical Voyage of Sinbad (SADKO)????????

  • Foghorn Leghorn!

  • (As Foghorn Leghorn)

Boy, I say boy! (mutters under his breath) Boy's about as sharp as a bowlin' ball...

  • "The human schnauzer!"

"I'm gonna keep doing this til someone notices me"

  • "I'm just going to get a paper!"

  • best episode of all time

  • "Frodo gets drunk and screws with his neighbors."

"You're going DOWN mushroom boy! Ya mincing little fungus!"

    "Start runnin', shroom!"

  • Man, this ones really bad and WIERD AND CREEEPPY!! XD

  • "Now start runnin shroom!"

  • 1:15

They ripped off that shot from Gone with the Wind!

    ...well, except for the "mooning"

  • Finally I have a boyfriend!

  • You should better call it Russian-English production instead, because director of the movie is Alexander Row, Russian director of English origin.

  • Why do they call it Finnish, when it's 100% Russian!

  • Yes, the story is Russian. but they call it a Russo-Finnish co-production. I just assumed this meant that some Finns or Finnish film companies helped produce the film. Or maybe the director was dating a hot Finnish gal at the time who insisted on being credited? Sorry, I"m not sure.

  • MST3K crew just made mistake. No finnish companies were involved in production. It's pure Russian movie Morozko. Believe me, i know the subject, because i live in Russia. Morozko is kind of cult folk movie here.

  • And people tend to forget that Finland was part of Russia for a very long time and even though they were independent at the time this film was produced, they were still heavily involved with Russia.
