this is turning into a debate about which version of the song this is - and frankly, I don't care. The idea was to create an amusing juxtaposition of silent movie clip with a matching song.
this version of personality is quite obscure and is much hipper than the abc paramount hit record. there is a collection of recordings by lloyd floating around out there with much rawer and hipper versions of this song and stagger lee, i'm gonna get married, just because, where were you on our wedding day, questions, lawdy miss clawdy and more. i suspect that they may have been demos for specialty at the time abc robbed ray charles from atlantic.
@NZSachse this is not the original!. this re- recording is sung by him but this is from many years later. the HIT RECORDING he did in 1959 is the original and is the one that became a hit. here is the original! watch?v=BvOTA-s5rbY . the version in this video is a re recording he did in the 70's and did not get to #2 in 1959 as the recording in this video is from the 70's. it is the original version that i have put a link to that got to #2 in 1959
I think the clip is taken from Harold Lloyd's silent comedy "For Heaven's Sake" (1926). Unfortunately, my original notes have been lost since the item was put together nearly 20 years ago.
@BezeL63 This is a scene from Harold Lloyd's 1924 film 'Girl Shy'. It's a great movie, and someone actually has it up on YouTube.

i say the popular version is not the original. i know what happens to tunes when the executives stroll into the booth. they "clean 'em up"

@CenaTv2 , wrong, it is. Sung by him, recorded by him, and identified on the record label as such.
