I love the pet shop boys and im 25 I was 10 or 11 when I got the tape and then my aunt bought me the cd a year or so later cuz the tape was shot to gell from listening to it for so long. PLEASE is awesome I thnk i am on my 5th please cd now
Always thought this was bizarre and certainly not an official video. Found out the source tonight when I recognized it. Comes Koyaanisquatsi, originally to music by Philip Glass. Cinematographer was Ron Fricke, director Godfrey Reggio. Just FYI.
I love this song from Please sung beautifully and appeals to all. Don't agree that it's Euro Disco though, just classic 80's sound with a hint of Bobby O' maybe New York sounding. My fav from please is I want a lover.
Kiitos Tarja, Pet Shop Boys forever! King`s Cross ja Love Comes Quickly ovat parhaat ja tietenkin tämä.80-lukua ei voita mikään.Siirryn nyt Richard Marxiin/Angelia.Mitä olisi elämä ilman musiikkia?
Few of their clips and music videos are really undenyable gay,but their music gives both for gays and heteros such an enjoyment and emotion that happens perhaps only one time in the human life. They are universal and their sexuality doesn't influence it!!!
Takes me back to the summer of 1986. Those were good times. The music of the 80's was the best ever. I had "Please" on cassette tape, bought it at the Main PX at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas in 1986, and now have it on CD. I could never get tired of listening to it!
wheres the talking bit at the beginning were it sounds like there having a party and i think its chris lowes voice...its on the album...i love that bit
The video is actually from a great piece of movie art called Koyaanisqatsi (Life Out Of Balance). An experience absolutely worth checking out if you love sceneries and pictures.
My favorite song from "Please" by a small margin, but my favorite nonetheless. Possibly the last great New Romantic song, too. And despite all my hyperbole, this song holds up on all levels. A classic.

Amazing art, be it music/film/dance etc should trancend gender. The Pet Shop Boys fulfill this mandate! Who cares if they drink from the hairy truncheon?
Most of the great minds and innovators of Ancient Greece, a civilization which greatly influenced western civilization as we know it, were gay. Thus, who cares!
It is Los Angeles. At 1:19 you are looking at 6th st traffic coming towards the camera, on the right side of the two buildings is 5th st heading towards the fwy onramp, and behind the two buildings is Figueroa. The building on the right is the Paul Hastings tower, and just to the right and out of camera is the Hotel Bonaventure.
look up on wikipedia article about their 'gay' side of the music. they said they did NOT write it to be 'gay' and only one admits being 'gay' while the other essentially says its not the publics business.
Thats what my wife says too. I know she's jealous of my taste in music. Even though we sat next to a table of gay men at an Erasure concert, she had a lot of fun.
I'm not sure if the singers being gay alone makes it gay music. No one ever describes Husker Du as a 'gay music' despite both of its singers and songwriters being gay and I have a hard time thinking of it as such. However, Pet Shop Boys and Erasure are glitzy synth-pop rooted in disco that exhibits many of the aesthetics of that style as well as gay nightclubs. (At least based on my limited experience with them.)
Okay I've just embarrassed myself needlessly more by posting a correction to a something I didn't even post because of character limits. D'oh! (Too bad this isn't like message boards where there's an edit function.)
The PSB rule! They have produced so many great songs :D but at school i'm the only one with PSB songs on my mp3 player n i always get branded as gay because people think its "gay music". Its stupid that people do that and call someone gay because Neil Tennant is/or the music is "gay" to young people of this century :(
Dont worry...we loved PSB back in school in the late 80's - mid 90's and it was labelled gay music then too. Just remember, "who gives a fuck what other people say?!!!" Always run your own race.
I'm sure your "friends" at school have listened at some point of their lifes to "Relax", of "Frankie Goes to Hollywood". Ask them if they know that FGTH is an all gay men band.
good idea minimot - Tonight is forever, 08. That could really hit the solar plexus as long as they don't turn it into something jarring. Lots of melodic bass and persistant tones and maybe some russian male singers like on red letter day.
