ACCORDING TO SOUND HOUND IT IS LEROY ANDERSON. ACTUALLY IT SAYS LOREY ANDERSON. I WISH THESE PEOPLE WHO ENTER THIS INFORMATION WOULD DOUBLE CHECK THEIR SPELLING BEFORE HITTING THE ENTER KEY. WHAT MORONS.
there are some subtle differences in this recording and versions by Pops and John Williams, noticeably the snap of the whip...more subdued here than the others..though true it does not seem like Steamroller, which I went to go see recently in CA....love the music, the graphics and the seating/set up by the casino (crappy) however convinced me to make Steamroller a entity to listen to but don't go see. Noting new played, just CD replays. In fact some of the presentation came across as synced...
Yes, I'll agree it's the Boston pops. If it is on a Manheim Steamroller album, which one is it? I don't have a Steamroller album with this one on. I do have alot of music from the Boston Pops, and this is theirs.
Mannheim Steamroller's albums frequently use musicians that don't sound like the traditional new-agey Mannheim thing. On American Spirit their Fanfare for the Common Man is very traditional, not to mention how many times they've worked with big orchestras like London Symphony Orchestra since Fresh Aire 5. Sunday Morning Coffee also has a lot of different bits of music from multiple artists that sound nothing like Mannheim Steamroller.
@123swimnerd This is definitely a recording of a full orchestra, but most likely not Boston Pops. The instrumentation is more like unto ASO (Atlanta Symphonic Orchestra).
Is it possible that it was a compiliation disk of various performers and was mis-labeled? It has happened. I found a video on here of this song performed live with John Williams conducting the Boston Pops. And it really doesn't sound like something Mann. Steam. does.
Poster is an idiot.
Buth.is a wonderful composition by Leroy Anderson. Wish I had sent him a letter thanking him.
Wife and I listen to this all year long.

Sounds like Kieth Lochhart conducting the Pops. The crack of the whip was much more pronounced in the Fiedler and Williams recordings.

Wow... Mannheim Steamroller certainly has changed it's sound! If I didn't know any better, I'd swear this was the Boston Pops.

@Prancer1231 The "clippity-clop" is much more pronounced than the Boston Pops/Leroy Anderson version, but I agree it's not Mannheim Steamroller.

Mannheim Steamroller has never released a copy of Sleigh Ride. The Boston Pops Orchestra has, and it's 2:51.

This is Mannheim Steamroller. I performed this song in Band so the memory is very sticky. It's also my favorite Christmas song!
