did you know this is the model of bike the prince road in the movie purple rain ? I bought one and road it through the snow from Arizona to Arkansas .reliable bike and unique
Awesome bike! I just got a 1983 CM450A a week or so ago with 11k miles, in nice shape but probably not as nice as yours, but close to it. they are the best bike in the world in my opinion. I'm even going to learn how to adjust the valves. You made a very wise choice to own this bike. You can't beat a Honda, and this is one of their best machines ever.
@jwatersfan Thanks! Lots of buffing, polish and expensive replacement bolts to finish the look. I LOVE the hondamatics....I'd love to get a 750 someday. I'm looking at getting a Suzuki savage 650 and doing a bobber out of it. Should be a ton of fun! Take care and keep the shiny side up!
i'm green with envy ... lol : ) i really like the green on green paint scheme ... thats definitely a show stopper ... beautiful bike ... i had a brown hondamatic 400 back in 88', when i moved to merritt island florida ... you couldn't get me off it ...lol
@capecodcuda Good place to have a bike too, Florida, you must have about 300 days a year of riding weather. We're lucky if we get 4 months tops. Good ole upstate NY weather!
W0W great job! Can you post a vid of you sitting on it, and what's your height?? I have been debating between the 400, 450 and 750...Would love to see how this bike fits you!!
Thanks! I'll see if I can set the camera up for that, in the mean time I'm 5' 2" ish (not quite 2") and I can almost flat foot it. I lowered the rear shocks to the lowest setting so as long as you don't pillion you should be good. I am also looking into the 750 for a long distance/highway bike since these are a bit small for highways.
Thanks for the comments! I'd like to get a few more parts replaced on it (small ones) just cuz they're sun aged but am in no hurry. I'll never sell her, she's definitely a one of a kind!
Wow! Did that bike just come out of the Honda factory? LOL Excellent shape, literally brand new. You have a great piece of history there. Don't ever sell it. You'll regret it! LOL. These hondamatics are getting harder and harder to find in that condition. Congratulations!

Wow, your bike is beautiful. I also have a 1980 Hondamatic with the same color scheme, but yours outshines mine by a mile. Congratulations!

Where did you get that windshield?
Dazes 1 year ago
@Dazes It came with the bike but I replaced it with a shorty shield because I like more wind and bugs in my teeth. ;)
