I <3 Kmart, as well as Target. I am a walmart hater 4 sure! My dad said something about going to Walmart for Black Friday tomorrow morning, and I said NO WAY! I won't support a corporation like walmart; they in the former years were very popular as well as Kmart. But ever since Walmart started building more Supercenters, and Sam Walton died, they've been heading in the wrong direction. Just watch "Walmart: The High Cost of a Low Price" and you'll see what I mean!
@danfifepsu Ikr? That is the problem. If they would make all of their products within a reasonable price range similar to the exact same product at Walmart, then they wouldn't have to demote the stores down to Kmarts. Although I've never been to one, I hope to in a few years. However, I fear that they'll be long gone before I am able to discover one. If they are renovating a Kmart store in the near future that has enough space, definently remodel it into a Super Kmart and I think they'd be good!
When it first opened it was great because it had giant lego statues and a StarFox game demo booth shaped like a cockpit. Now it's kind of dirty and there is only one cashier at any given time.
There's a super K in my old hometown of Cambridge, Ohio. Funny thing was that back when Super K was pretty active the closest one was in New Philadelphia. Now the New Philadelphia one has been belly up for sometime and Cambridge is the only super K unless you drive all the way upto Akron/Canton or Cleveland.
I'm grateful not all the KMart closed down in my area. The only one remaining is near my old middle school [in an area where there are two Wal-Mart Supercenters].
thank god we still have a kmart in Berwick pa, otherwise we would have to drive 16 miles to walmart......kmart is our only huge retail in our town.......we love it
FYI-Kmart laid off all Loss Prevention (plainclothes detectives) in all Risk Level 1 stores. That means most any small town Kmart. Someone told me to copy and paste this, sounds good to me!
This is from 1991. We lost our Super Kmart Center (#4904, 6106 N. Navarro, Victoria, TX 77904) in late May/early June 2002 after the last big wave of bankruptcy closures. It opened in October 1993. From 1970-1993 we had a regular Kmart. There are almost no Kmart stores in Texas now.

At my Kmart you can literally go for several aisles without seeing anyone. The home and garden section is dead silent.

why is it that Kmart has soooo few Super Kmarts and some they have taken out the groceries, this demoting the store to just a regular Kmart.

At least Chicago Suburban still got a few of super K: HOmewood, Round Lake Beach, Tinley Park and Portage Indiana
Detroit area also still has few of theirs too.

K-Mart is the most expensive store that sells crap. WalMart is cheaper.
A note to donniehell: I live only a county away from you in Pittston , PA

Not True...Walmart never has sales and their quality is much more crappier then Kmart.
