  • It got number 1 because he made such a run and set up a score on his own

  • what a man,one of the all time greats

  • Ya don't fucking see lads doing that at club level and you don't see lads doing it at county level either; you see a poor facsimile of it, at best.

Apart from the fact that this was a great move and point in itself, in an All-Ireland final, i've never seen any other player in Gaelic games even come close to the way Donnellan ate up the ground here.

Damn near world-class fucking speed and skill with it.

Enjoy it on its merits; who gives a fuck if its the 'Best GAA Moment' or not.

  • good run...but you see lads doing that kind of thing all the time at club level! Best score ever Kieran MacDonald vs. galway 2007(i think) semi-final when mayo made that great comeback!

  • How can this be the best moment ever in gaa any player can run he didnt even score! kevin morans run in 77? was way better

  • because he was the greatest player of all time buckshotbazy

  • how the fuck was this no 1

  • @buckshotbazy because he was the greatest player of all time

  • @galwayman2010 you must be joking my friend , great player but wouldnt lace maurice fitzgeralds boots

  • @buckshotbazy when did maurice fitzgerald ever run the lenth of the field,iv seen a lot of players kick the ball over the bar from the side line but never seen anyone do what michael could do

  • @buckshotbazy keep quiet u think your great from Kerry, learn your football man

  • I dont understand Gaelic sports at all...

  • @Gamer9678 What about it.

  • a great run by the greatest player of all time,he won that game on his own

  • the maurice fitz point against dublin realy should have got number1

  • It is astonishing that this got number one. There were numerous other moments that deserved to be chosen, especially the legendary Maurice Fitzgerald's amazing point from the sideline in the very last kick of the game to force a reply against Dublin. Any player can make a run like Donnellan did but very few can put the ball over the bar under pressure like Fitzgerald could.

  • @danceflooroddities 'any player can run like donnelon did' haha....the man was the best athlete ever to play the game you clown

  • @Liverpoolfcisbest ya I'd say you would find it hard to run fast all right after getting ass-raped by your faggot father you fucking clown....,why don't you go skull-fuck your aids ridden whore of a mother you fucking gimp piece of shit

  • @danceflooroddities Fuck up yea faggot .... your the only one getting fucked up the hole by you father ..yea mink ...

  • Ciaran Carey's point vs Clare was a much better solo run than this! At least he put the sliothar over the bar at the finish. How it did not get recognized is a mystery.

  • 1998 everyone was doin the JA!!!!!

  • would have been better if Donnellan had put it over

  • im related to him

  • How this got no.1 i will never know!!!

  • 100+ years of history and this is the best? ffs, what an absolute shite game bog ball is.

  • ah that was awesome lads, to find that blast of energy and to grab the game by the scruff of the neck was brilliant...look over any side who have won an all ireland..there has to be about 12 very very good players and 3 exceptional players..galway had Mike Don, Padraig Joyce and Ja Fallon

  • the entire movement of the front men was superb, but the space they were allowed came from that magical run, its very hard to actually stop someone who is running at pace at you, especially with skill like that. Another example brian dooher's point all'ireland 08.

  • Because taht move more than likely secured the win for Galway that day! His sheer determination and belief, boosted the rest of the team to believe that they can win! Not only was it full of skill, which obviously involves a little more than two legs to run! It was the fact that after he passed the ball off, he had the intelligence to stay running and got the ball back! He was a legend in his day and every galway person will remember that run in the 1998 final foir ever! Up the Tribesmen!

  • how could this be number 1?

  • Comment removed

  • pure class

  • One of the true greats in The Tribesmen's Hall of Fame. Grace, class, style and utter brilliance. Admired by the aficionado- begrudged by the sideliner of inferior counties. There are lots of them about but ..ONLY ONE MICHAEL DONNELLAN! All together now!

    Ahem....

  • Comment removed

  • It was good but it wasn't that good!

  • no way was that good. sure any lad with 2 legs can make an attempt to run

  • it's sad that so many of the galway fckrs voted for this as no 1 gaa moment thats the only reason it got no1 feck galway UP THA LILYWHITES

  • well at least we've won a good few All-Ireland's in 3 quarters of a century

  • yous lost ha

  • where are galway and dublin now

  • where are kildare?when they win an all ireland last a leinster?yeah zip it

  • @weezerpleaser18 It's pretty hard to decipher what yr saying there, but just so you know, Kildare were in the last four this year while Galway were going out with a whimper AT HOME!

  • this is a fantastic move!!!! the tribesmen are fucking legends!!! Unlike mayo, they have won the sam of late(2001)and not 1951!!!! Up the tribes!! galway for sam 2009!!!

  • If you can't make that run twice in a match of that magnitude in 1998, then you can't knock off this being number one. Pure heart finished both of those plays and pure heart won the sam. MON THE TRIBE!

  • its a great score but if u showd ti to a foreign person and said tis is the greatest moment in the 125 year old sport tat i love...i think teyd laugh. and i agree wit jameso16 and duggy is the prick

  • Go on Mikey Donnellan, ya boy ya...a Galway legend. Will never forget that day...Gallimh Abu

  • Not the greatest moment.

John Fenton's goal for Cork vs Limerick or Maurice Fitzgerald's point should have won.......not that!

  • wot r u sayin dat point woz unreal, da run woz unreal by michael donellan not dat fuckin shite goal my by dat cork cunt. up galway, go on michael donellan

  • In actual fact, Jarlath Fallon scored a sideline kick which was just as far out at exactly the same angle as Maurice Fitzgerald did. But nobody complained that that kick wasn't in the top 20 momments.

  • noone said its the best...its 17. im from galway myself, and as im biased this year meant alot at the time.

there is no ONE main GAA moment. just lots lots of great ones

  • was in taffes on shop street that day and was great craic but there is no way its best gaa moment...offaly - kerry 82. By a flippin mile.

  • I would have gone for the Davy Fitzgerald penalty goal, but my opinion doesn't count as I am Anglo-Irish. And biased as great-grandad from Clare, and I prefer hurling. My other great-grandad was from Creggs, though.

  • Ok good solo run, but not greatest GAA moment. What about Darby's goal for Offaly to stop the Kerry 5 in a row, or Foley's goal in the 4 match series (known as the Royal battle)

  • Fuck you ya wanker, long live the Tribesmen

  • great score.but definetly not the greatest gaa moment ever

  • a good point but its not a number 1 moment!

  • When Micko says it was one of the best scores ever seen in Croke Park, you've gotta respect that

  • Ture, Micko is something else

  • mikey u are a legend. . it was by far the best score ever

  • how is this the best gaa moment?

  • That is stupid, people make runs like that everyday

  • what are you talking about? They dont go on such a mazy run down the length of the field giving accurate passes and helping to set up scores...... you might get a very good passing movement that involves the whole team but no player moving more than 10 yards.... that has got to go down as one of the best ever moves in Croke Park.... If there are better moves, let us all know the match and player involved so we can see better. Even the great Micko said it was brilliant.

  • Grnated it was a Good score but surely its not the Best GAA moment....Ciaran Carey in 1996 against Clare...what a score.

  • john fenton 1987 v limerick

  • michael donnellan was amazing he won the all-ireland for galway twice and also won the all-ireland club championship with SALTHILL/KNOCKNACARRA pity he had ta retire due to injury!!!

  • no he didnt he made himself unavailable for selection.being from galway you should know that

  • No-one is saying it wasn't a good score and a fantastic run, but how is it the greatest GAA moment in history? If you can't think of any moment in the history of the GAA as good as that...

  • in fairness all u guys talking bout how this didnt deserve no 1 are a joke, it took some determination 4 him 2 run da length of da pitch like that,i play gaelic football nd those of u who play da game aswell will only understand how hard it was 4 him 2 make a run like that, pick up his pace halfway through recieve it again nd lay it off, most men wud have given up after da first hand-pass nd this is coming 4rm a proud mayo man!!

  • look open your eyes to say that this is the best moment in history is both a joke and hugely disappointing do not try and tell me that there was no beter moment ever CRAP!!!

I will give you three moments that should have outclassed but such a pity this vote was left to the public

No 1 eddie keher's goal against cork running down hogan stand side head bursted open no free kept running goal that my boy is DETERMINATION

No 2 John fenton goal vs limerick

No 3 foley goal vs dubs 3rd replay

  • ud say that being 4rm kilkenny...however i play hurling nd hav been opened up twice on da forehead nd didnt even know just taught it was a knock...so did he..plus it doesnt hav 2 result n a score?? yes da public voted...

  • Ni bheidh a leithid ann aris!

Bring on the 4th generation of Donnellans I say!

  • magic donnellan, supper run

  • Its a great moment and was a lot better than a lot of the moments shown. It might not have been good enough for no. 1 but a lot of the moments weren't fit for no 67!! Brodericks point vs Kilkenny, for example was leagues ahead of most things shown but wasn't included!! What a joke!!

  • @milkycaherlistrane Thats right milky! let's not forget about Broderick's wonderpoint! Or what about Eanna's wonderpoint in the all Ireland minor final in Croke park. This point reflects everything the game of Gaelic football stands for, a player running his guts out for the glory of the jersey. Isn't that what all the managers preach. Run til you get a heart attack.. and if you end up getting injured in the process..its as good as 2 scores!

  • @Gal19new86 Ahhhh, a truer word was never said my good man! Glynners is the only man in Galway fit to give Mickey D a run these days......

  • shut up u all, that was probably the fastest a gaa player has ever run. it was a superb piece of skill and athleticism in an ALL IRELAND FINAL. And it resulted in a score. pick me a more deserving moment?

  • the people are not trying to put galway down but we are all very proud of GAA. now imagine explaining how great it was to someone and then showing them the greatest ever moment caught on camera, gretaest ever..and then showing them this, someone running fast and laying off the ball/taking it back well. better moment? any hurling point from the sideline from by their own 65 for a start. and most of the other moments too

  • i think you like the other few fools actually believe that this is the best moment ever will you please get a GRIP!!!! I will without doubht pick you a better moment

EDDIE KEHER ALL IRELAND FINAL VS CORK RUNNING DOWN HOGAN STAND SIDE HEAD BURSTED OPEN NO FREE KEPT RUNNING TOWARDS GOAL BANG BACK OF THE NET THAT MY DEAR FRIEND MAGICAL AWFUL PITY THIS VOTE WAS LEFT TO THE PUBLIC

  • how about shhhhhh

  • How about you get off my Youtube account, ciaran.

  • Cop onto yourself you ronaldo wannabe

  • Great, he made a run, what a joke..........I'm sure the galway boys made a few bob off that in the bookies.

  • Whatever about not agreeing with this, i really cant understand it. Not only does it not deserve to be number 1, it doesnt deserve to be anywhere near the top 20. it shows great athleticism and one good sidestep from a tackle...and thats it. and im not denying he's a great player before i get attacked by over-defensive Galwegians, but really...

  • Even as a Galway fan I can admit that this didn't deserve to be number 1 even though it was a fantastic bit of football in it's own right.

  • no disrespect to donnelan but in all fairness that is NOT the greatest moent in GAA.

  • great player but i dont think it deserved number one

  • WTF?? how did that get voted number one. no disrespect to donellan but that doesnt say much for the GAA if that is the greatest ever GAA moment!! That was a bit of a sham.

  • Good run alright, number one no feckin way! Seems like a lot of the Wesht voted that one in

  • Michael Donnellan is a legend but i dont think that deserved number 1.

  • this was not fucking number one! no WAY!!!

  • To be fair this is definitely not the greatest GAA moment ever. However the GAA had probably never seen an athlete like Michael Donnellan before this. He glided over the turf and ran Kildare absolutely ragged that day.

  • Ah now c'mon!...it was a brilliantly worked score n he is a legend of a player!...no doubt about it!...UP MILLTOWN(Co. Galway)!!

  • I think that Tom Brewsters point against the mighty armagh should have sneaked in there. This was a feat that would be hard to repeat a team that lost 11 men from the previous season comes back and beats the favourites for the all ireland in a great game with seven new under 21 players drafted in. amazing

  • Fantastic moment that, I was there. Probably as good as it is ever going to get for a Fermanagh fan.

  • that was a massive let down

  • load of bullshit!! how could a solo run be the top moment of the GAA in its history! what a load of horse cock!! his family must have put in a lot of votes! crazy!!

  • feckin virgin

  • im from galway and i dont agree with this at all maybe if he had run the whole pitch without passing and finished it i would agree...for me the goal in the 2000 loss to kerry in the final/final replay was 10 times better great team play whole way up and great exectution for the finish..this though is quite bland!!

  • I must agree. For me maurice fitz point is something very special. But wat about offaly stopping kerry's 5 in a row with a goal in the dying minutes of an all ireland final.

  • @dapos yeah but he pushed him out of the way but still a good goal

  • I've just read the 'Hasselnorris' comment - How correct you are!

  • Who in their right mind voted this average clip as Number 1 GAA Moment??!! Jaysus if this is as good as GAA gets, life would be very boring in Croke Park and the surrounds ... LUNACY!!

  • WTF

  • absolutely rediculous. he didnt even score at the end of the move, was playing against a beaten team. pity they didnt have footage of when He punched the ref in galway club championchip. he should have got 6 months for that the scumbag.

  • It IS brilliant, but no way ahould it be number 1.

  • joke!thats all i can say!

  • No question, best ever moment.

  • How this can be the greatest moment in GAA history is a farce

  • Legend!
