Its interesting - its a uk reg'd car in what appears english countryside. If this is a 1959 cinema advert then i think i know why...
It was either aimed at overseas countries that would be familiar with lhd, or as there were only a limited supply of mini's in '59, the left hand drive one might have been the only car available to the BMC advertising department at the time?
Could be. Imagine what British audiences may have thought..."My God, Morris is rebelling against the authority of The Queen and making left-drive cars!" lol
Export or die i think someone said, was it herbert austin or leonard lord?
Very few '59 mini 7's stayed in the UK, most would have gone abroad to get foreign money into the country, i think the UK didnt really start enjoying the mini until around '61 when exports had leveled out and teething probs and appeal improved....
Well the Mini was so advanced, revolutionary and unlike any other car that it had to first prove itself to the public. So thanks to John Cooper's involvement & those 4 outright Monte Carlo Rally wins, plus it's celebrity & even royalty owners, it then caught on big time. I doubt we'll ever see another amazing car quite like it again.

Is this for countries outside of the UK? I noticed there's a left-drive version featured here.

Not only is this a lhd car, but they refer to the rear storage area as the "trunk" rather than the "boot".
