  • Great! So happy to see a girl do it! Keep it up!

  • Excellent Video! I recommend people take their time the 1st time around, after that you can practically perform this simple job with your eyes closed!

  • kay, so i didn't know how to do this before but now i do!

    Thanksssss giiiirrrllllyyyyy!!!! :)

  • Shouldn't the brake squeek when brake is applied?

Mine had like a metal grinding noise while driving (sometimes)

But noise would go away if brake is applied.

    ? ?

  • when replacing the pads, you dont need to bleed the brakes

  • Good I like that one too. But I think I need to replace the rotors,

  • So Sexxy :) I like wht bois ? Hsha

  • Barefoot and pregnant I mean and changing brakes

  • Wow! I never thought I'd get a boner from watching a chic change her pad.

  • I've talked to a few capable people who have changed brake pads, read many accounts on how to change Civic brake pads (including the Chilton's manual) and seen many YouTube videos, but this video was the most helpful.

Thanks to joigold7 for the help!

  • good job

  • GIRL POWER!!

  • I love the no shoes.. = )

  • very helpful vid

  • Thanks - I found ths very acculate and helpful.

  • that master cylinder is over the limit,im pretty sure when they press that piston back it overflows the fluid messing the firewall lol

  • eow eow thats cute!

  • Thank you! for this video, I'm trying to start doing all my own repairs on my civic to save money lol.

  • LOL! I notice all of the comments here. Here video says "how to change brakes." You obviously know to wash your hands and the rest. She's giving you the basics. Don't be silly. She did an amazing job. This is the FIRST female I've seen do something like this on youtube (and in life really). So kudos to her! A+++

  • pretty impressive for a girl.

  • will you marry me!

  • SEXY!!!

  • Wow shes a little cutie. You guys forgot to take the caliper off and lube up the pins.

  • when you're working in this kind of environment its advisable to at least wear SHOES.

  • By the way guys please be safe always use jack stands, and wash ur hands thoroughly after completing these tasks. Brake dust contains ASBESTOS and same with clutch jobs they contain asbestos too. I advise you to wear gloves as I didn't and I got really itchy hands and i had to go to the doctor for some soothing hand cream. Best of Luck.

  • My brake pads nd rotors, was a BITCH. Caliper bolts were dirty nd rusted, did everything from applying wd40 to the bolts to heatin them with the blow torch they were so tight that all four of em ended up breaking inside the caliper bracket nd half of it comin out lol. Then went down to the wreckers and got slightly used caliper brackets for $40, i had to pull em off myself. So then I put on the new bolts and used anti seize compound on em. Used brake quiet on pads, FINALLY put it back together.

  • My civic doesn't really make a squeeking noise. More of a rough grinding noise...why the hell?

  • @xVxRayJohnathaNxVx The rough grinding noise is your worn brake pads screeching against ur rotors. It's a good idea to change dem suckers nd also get your rotors machined or just get new ones like i did. My old ones were rusted and heat warped like crazy they would jus ruin my pads if i had gotten them machined. I got monroe rotors on sale for $40 nd raybestos nascar advantage ceramic brake pads for $35. What a difference in stopping power, no more steering wheel shakin nd brake squealin. luv it

  • @xVxRayJohnathaNxVx Thanks for the info man! I bought some brake pads & installed them & no more grinding noise! But now I decide to replace the rotors & brake calipers for performance. Hope they're not hard to install.

  • It is nice to see that women are also not afraid to get their hands dirty.

  • I like ur dirty hands.

  • give her some gloves please!

  • A girl that isnt afraid of getting her hands dirty!!! I love that :)

  • Can you post a rear brake sample?

  • Damn those caliper bolts where pretty loose.

  • you have a sexy legs babe xxx

  • i am a honda tech and wow i am impressed but you are missing a couple things you did not have to remove both caliper bolts 2. you did not lube the sliding pins which is very important 3. you did not clean and lube the slide on the caliper but other then that impressed

  • @vtec03 What is the sliding pins? Do you mean the bolt?

  • thumbs up if you like sexy girls working on cars

  • dam i wish i had a girlfriend like u....not scared to get her hands dirty wit grease...

  • It is NOT as easy as she makes it seem to remove the caliper bolts

  • i would totally give her some d

  • You didn't bleed the lines, won't the clamp push in air bubbles?

  • @freemj13373 the only way you will get air in the line is if there is a break in the line or a bad seal in the caliper, pressing in the piston will not introduce any air in the system

  • You don't have to take the bolts off on both the top and bottom of the caliper, just take the bolt off from the bottom and swing the caliper up.

  • I need help

I just change brakes on my civic and they don't work good.

I press the brake padel to the metal and the car don't want to stop to good

I been driving for 2 days and it's still stopping like shit

    What's the problem ?

  • @CASINONIAGARA

Most likely you need to bleed the air out of the brake line.

  • nice shoes.

  • wow your so good i dont even know how fix my jdm lol....

  • what this video does not tell you is that the 12 mm bolts that you have to unscrew to take off the caliper will spin (at least they will on a 2005 honda civic). on 3 of the 4 i was able to hold the spinning part by hand to get the bolt out. but on one of them i needed an adjustable wrench to hold the spinning part (whatever it is called that the bolt screws into).

  • alright hatters! the reason why you take off the master cylinder cap is because your depressing the breaks by pushing in the piston, wich creates excessive fluid. and its only way out is through the master. but with the cap on...its under pressure and might blow your cap off.

A woman who dosnt mind getting dirty is an awsome woman and deserves respect. job well done!

  • WTF....?!?! You do not use a C clamp to push in your caliper piston! That harms the shit out of it, that's why there's a special tool for that. And how do you even know if that rotor isn't warped or something and that it's good enough to b re-used. Btw the reservoir cap thing is kind of dumb, there's no reason for that.

  • @killer03protege whats the name of the caliper piston tool and how do i know when i've pushed it in far enough?

  • @killer03protege

You can use a micrometer to check if it is warped. Or simply by driving. If you feel vibration in the brake pedal, or on the steering wheel when braking from high speed (usually freeway speeds) then you know your break rotors are warped. And no it's not dumb to remove the cap from the brake master cylinder. when you push the piston back in, excess brake fluid will spill out of the container. if cap isn't removed, serious damage can occur to the cap.

  • Haha "back it up back it up, you got it you got it

  • Thanks for the video- very helpful. Nicely shot (good angle on those caliper bolts), great lighting. I'm going to give it a shot this week.

  • why do u removed the cap from break cylinder what if u dont do it?????????

  • you are smoking hot, not to mentioned saving me a bunch of money on my civic! wanna hang out sometime? =)

  • Comment removed

  • how far do you push the piston back with the c clamp?

  • Well Done!

  • good video, u dont see many women workin on cars, altho few things i wouldnt do personally, i would never trust one of them windup jacks even with the wheel under it, use an axle stand and trolley jack, also when using the g-clamp id use an old brake pad as a base so it dosnt damage the piston, although saying that you can push the piston back using a screwdriver when the caliper is still attached to the rotor, so using a g-clamp is pretty pointless, and yes use gloves :)

  • If we were married, i'll let you be the grease monkey and i'll cook and clean Ha! I never change a brake pads before; how about a private lesson? Great video but wear gloves next time in case you have a date.

  • You girl should wear gloves when doing stuff like that - it would help you save your manicure! :)

  • If brake start to squeek.... does the rotor need to be replaced at that point?

  • @xxgg not necessarily..but if u continue to ride on squeaky brakes they will eventually warp the rotors. i do recommend getting the rotors resurfaced when u replace your brakes.

  • Nice know going to my sis to do her brakes. im a FOrd GUY

  • Your video helped me I did my first brake pads change thanks you are the girl kkkkk

  • 0:27

  • i bet she likes it doggy

  • Thanks so much! This helped out a ton! If I made ANY change to the video, it would be to kill the chipmunk ghetto music = P

  • disassemble it completely then clean with brake cleaner. you also didn't clean the inner side and haven't check your tie rods and hub bearing play.

    I guess narrating is easy.

  • I don't think you're supposed to put any grease between the caliper and the pad/piston and the pad. It only goes between the pad's backing and the inside of the shim.

  • You can change my brakes any time

  • shes really good lol

  • Take it as a compliment, a woman working car(s) is HOT ! Just wanted to say thanks for a great video. It really helped me and plus you made the whole process look simple.

  • can you also demonstrate how to do proper changing of rear drum brake for honda civic 08 lx, i wacth some of your video's and is all helpful, i just only need the drum brake tutorial and im good. thank you joigold7 and more power!!!

  • @romlan25 +1 on that, I'm still looking for a good tutorial on drum brakes since I've never worked on them before.

  • just one thing that might be important, close thelid on the master cylinder? bit of a worry if she gonna go drive it

  • wonderful video Joi! You are very helpfull...cute too

  • if a chik doing mechanic on a civic isnt sexy i just dint know what is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the nice video!

I am surprised that no one has said this yet - you should never work on your car with bare feet! You're just asking for something to fall on them!

  • wow

  • dam nice clean garage!

  • Good video, well done but please wear shoes before you get hurt. Cheers.

  • 1 thing try not 2 use the c clamp 2 push the piston back in the caliper cause there is a possibility u could crack it n end up needing a new caliper try using the old pad 2 push the piston back with the c clamp other than that good vid

  • is it important to put grease on new pads? because i changed my back ones but never put grease on lol

  • u missed something quiet simple but realy important

pump out the padel before u drive it or you're hav no brakes, hint hint

or ur end up in someones back yard, lol

  • @philham696 i thought about that too

  • @philham696 Padel? Didn't see a boat in this video

  • @MustangFan424

ha yh i cant spell lol

  • @philham696 UH??!!? No bleeding required since she never had air in the hydraulics?

She did great and her brakes are done properly

  • Omg she didn't break a nail did she?

  • finally,a video that includes a women and a car that is not about parking fails!nice job

  • wear gloves and a mask.

  • The lighting in this video is very good. I can see the whole process of changing the brake pads clearly.

  • :26 cute noise xD

  • thank you for the how to video. i just changed my brake pads from the guiding of your video. Thanks a million....

  • What size is the C-clamp?

  • whatever sive fits your brakes

  • o0o0o0 ggawwddd u need 2 use a old brake pad or somehting NEVER retract the piston like that jesus wont be surprised u need a new caliper..

  • Never use the Mickey Mouse jack that comes with the car. That is for emergency ONLY. Use a floor or bottle jack and a jack stand. If its all you have, place the wheel you took off under the car near the jack. This will keep the car off the floor and YOU if the jack fails. Bent wheel is cheaper than a trip to the ER for 2 new legs. Always block wheels and never rely on parking brake only.

  • 1 always tie up caliper with wire. keep it from falling and snapping your line. Or your finger off. 2 cleaners primary use is to keep harmful dust from being inhaled. Use first before doing anything else. DON'T blow off dust.

3 if you have added fluid since the last job, than your fluid will spill over when you press the caliper back in. Remove some if needed.

4 make sure guide pins glide and boots aren't torn. This can cause big problems. They are cheap and easy to check, clean and lube.

  • wow you go girl

  • whats the purpose of taking the cap off the brake fluid reservoir? is that to release the pressure?

  • If its closed, it builds up pressure when you push the piston in.

  • im interested in cars but i dont have anyone to teach me a lot about them and i cant afford classes do u have any tips on how to learn as much as i can about cars

  • This girl is amazing.

  • I like the video but I agree that you should not put the clamp directly into the piston, use the old brake pad as a cover on the piston before you press it in. By the way , I love japanese cars and especially japanese women. I do not buy anything but TOYOTA.

  • damn i would love a girl like dat where can i find 1 like that at

  • thanks for that! it was concise and made sense!

  • thanks for posting the video it helps please keep it up i am waiting for more thanks

  • Just be carefull when you push the piston in that your master clyinder resevoir doesn't overflow and make a mess. Happened to me!

  • Dont ever put the end of the drive bolt on the c-clamp inside the caliper piston....hello!!!

just use the worn out brake pad in between the piston and the c-clamp drive bolt.

those caliper pistons are aluminum...too much pressure and you'll be towing it out of your garage

  • haha i was thinking the same thing when i saw her do that... i was like O_O

  • Why, would she need to tow it? Wheel's off already I am sure "IF" she were to wreck the piston, she would just either rebuild the caliper or get a junker caliper. How does a tow fit in?

  • @daves35 good to know, I was actually thinking about what she did in the video, since I always place something between the piston and the c-clamp.

  • @daves35 Yeah, they are so delicate meanwhile they withstand the high temps of braking. Your a fucking moron.

  • Comment removed

  • do u usually change just 1 side>? or depends on the squeeky noise.

  • always change both sides. be safe and have fun!

  • thank you so much..

    keep it up please!!

    AQ.. from UK

  • What about rear brake can you video how to replace rear brake? thanks

  • i've had many requests for the rear brakes. as soon as mine need replacing, i'll make a vid! stay tuned!

  • u wussy

  • wow im lucky enough to see my wife holding the box of the brake pads. U are one rare breed of women.

  • Wow! I am very impressed that she is replacing her own brake pads. Good job!

  • You should of change your rotor cause it looks like done by what I saw. The front rotor of that is the same rotor as my 93 civic I know cause I got an 01 civic LX-G and the rotor should be bigger in thickness. When you apply brake cleaner you should of spray the entire rotor not just a part of it and spray behind it also. My comment is not saying that your doing the job wrong but I'm only giving you some tips.

  • you forgot anti seize and brake silencer

  • i'm always open to learning new things. thanks for the many tips!

  • wish i could find a girl thats not afraid to get her hands dirty

  • do u drift that civic?

  • wow... how would you ever drift a civic.. she was drifting with a s13 before

  • no i wish i could drift my civic but it's fwd..

  • You just saved me a 100 bucks!

  • haha good to know my video has helped! thanks for watching!

  • hmm should i get verna accent??

  • I finally got my breaks changed on my honda civic coupe 97 model. It was about 70 bucks, not to bad.

  • would this pretty much be the same procedure for my 2006 Civic?

  • should be pretty close. good luck have fun :)

  • can you do a DIY for strut/spring install? that would be awesome!

  • My brakes on my 1997 honda civic coupe are going bad. It's already making a medal to medal rub noise. Yep time to replace them I suppose :(

  • metal rub noises are bad, GL with your brakes..

  • Pshhh...next time try avoiding showing any company logos like the one on the can, but other than that, your beautiful girl...good job!...I love a girl whose car savvy...keep it up!

  • thanks for the heads up ill keep them in mind for the next vids :)
