  • is there an advantage to only 1 blade, such as longer run times?

  • You may recall in a phone conversation we had many months ago I asked you about flying a single bladed MsR. You didn't think it was doable then but I can't remember why. Either which way, I'm glad that you took on the challenge and made it doable, nice job!! BTW, flying an MsR outdoors in Sibley, IA is an amazin g feat within itself, haha! So, when are you getting your Blade 450?? :)

  • this man is a RC heli genus

  • Thanks for all the great ideas and informative videos Dave, I have an old Sabre heli with bad gyro, I am gonna turn it into a NOTAR!

  • LOL @ 3:36

Favourited because of the NOTAR, 1-bladed mSR.

I'd never expected that to work....

  • You are the Best Night flyer. You've inspired and taught me so much! Thank you. Keep it coming!

  • Your helicopters are very interesting to me , as a kid my father often flew a RC helicopter. Thanks ,for the video, Dave. You gave me some memories !

  • You otta make a video on how you actually balance these rotor Assembly.

I tried it and I could NOT get it to balance

  • Nice work Dave, Nice flying!! Wish I had a workspace as nice as yours :P i am just getting into RC helis and want to try quads too, Will keep watching your chan to see what you are up to, single blade concept was a mind binder but loved it! take care and keep showing every one what we older ones can do :)

  • This is real America and it doesnt seem to be available in Los Angeles Calif. THanks Dave

  • Great video Dave! I'm using your single rotor vids with the Boy Scouts taking aviation merit badge. I tell them to not be afraid to think outside the box, and here's proof. Keep up the GREAT work. Hope you have as much fun making them as we have viewing them!

  • @MrRCFlyyer From Singapore !

  • Wow great job!! :D

  • Great job on the video as usual... a socket head definately makes it look less lethal than a hammer head ;)

  • nice vid! i fly planes but your videos never dissapoint! check out my channel, i share it with my cousin. he likes legos and im into rc. i havent uploaded any vids of my planes yet, but im tryin. anyway good vids keep em coming1

  • You sure know your stuff Dave!

  • Great video Dave and nice flying as always and don't worry about all the people who say you can't do this and you can't do that,as i'd say it could well be down to them not being able to do it or even Jealousy ;-)

Thanks for watching and commenting on my videos Dave as it's much appreciated.

  • have you thought of tryin this out on a coaxial heli?

  • I thought that B1RD was going to take it out at 5:40

  • is there any diffrence in p-factor from using one blade? just curious.

  • You are so completely correct. All you are doing is respectively moving forward in technology. thanks for the wake up call

  • Great flying as usual Dave best vids on youtube keep up the good work mate , greetings from the UK

  • Size does not appear to matter in Dave's hands. :-) Awesome work!!

  • Fantastic stuff Dave. I enjoy the fun you have experimenting with these models, and sharing history and knowledge. You have one of the most enjoyable channels on YouTube. Thank you!

  • Another good demo of the single rotor blade. It just shows you what a little ingenuity can do.

  • great videos. I've never flown anything except paper airplanes, man! I really want to try now. thanks!

  • That won't work!!!!

  • hi, i just want to know wich edit-programme you use to edit all your vids. is it final cut pro?

  • Dave thats beyond reason,I think if someone else can dream it up,weather its that it cant be done or it can be done you will disprove or prove it.You are the RC mad scientist and you know it.Keep on experimenting man.I would love to see you make a helicopter fly with normal size paint sticks for blades thats my challenge to you,i,ve dreamed it lets see you do ilike Tony Newlin say if theres no video it didnt happen LOL

  • People need to look at it! If flies! It ffreaking works

  • You are always a innovator. I started watching your videos back when you made the aircraft launching experiment and I been hooked. Keep all the great work. Now I think I might need to pick up a beginers RC helicopter kit.

  • OK.....lets see no blades and 2 socket heads!!!! :)

  • Nice stuff Dave. Don't worry about the people who can't think outside the box. Your concepts are wonderful and you are doing what you have passion for....That's what it is all about.

PS - I know what you mean about the eyes...mine aren't what they used to be but I still have fun doing it....Peace

  • damn can you fly man ,,,,,

  • you blew me away with the no tail rotor coptors but now no tail rotor AND 1 bladed choppers? you are one cool guy. keep on flyin buddy!

  • OLD .... surely you jest. I will give you a moving target ... age 78, just learning helis. One CB180Z to learn on and two HK500s in the works. New to RC and old to the big ones. Falcon Capt with 57 years flying. My target: fly jets and RCs 5 more years and say that every year. I am learning a lot watching your videos. They are great.

  • thanks for taking my idea

  • @RazzlePlatinum i apreciate it

  • Nice video. It's amazing how well they all fly with one blade.

  • sweet! i used the one blade idea on my ember 2 i had it sitting around for a wile and when i decided to fly it it had a broken prop and i couldnt get a new one for a wile and it works just fine! keep it up dave! btw you look much younger than you realy are.

  • Awesome work Dave.

  • It'll never work Dave!! gosh daggit, lol :0),... pretty amazing stuff.

  • You Never Cease To Impress...

  • Just wanted to say your videos are awesome! It's amazing of the new things that you come up with. I appreciate you for the inspiration you gave me on learning to fly and I'm having fun doing so. Keep up the good work and Semper Fi to you.

  • I know where all this inventiveness comes from...the USMC credo: Adapt, Improvise..Overcome! Semper Fi, Top.

  • I liked the bolted counter weight better than the taped-on hammer!! :) As far as vision....... you are the master at improvising, compensating, adapting and overcoming....you will be fine.

  • Dave when you fly your 1 bladed heli's, do you get more flight time???

  • One blade flying and you make it look easy.... Great video. I enjoy watching you fly your helicopters. I got to get me one of those helicopters someday. I'd like to learn how to do a little two blade flying in the back yard.

Is there any way for me to cut out the background music on my end? The music sometimes makes it a little hard for me to understand what you are saying.

  • i tried one blade on my msr but i couldnt get enough lift it was balenced fine what did you use on yours

  • Youre an inspiration for an underrated and forgotten technology. How bout a one bladed convertiplane ?

  • Thanks!

  • Addition to second thing, if that's not working properly, there are hospitals and they 'laser' your eyes or you will get a new lens, so don't worry:-)

  • First, you're not old, my aunt is 88, her health is diminishing, but she is still ok, my granddad was about 95 when he died.

Second, Quote: Technology is moving forward, if your eyes are going bad, there are glasses or like you said, contancts (is that right, 'cause I did not hear you saying).

Third, You're doing great, so please don't start with getting old, makes you only feel older and older, faster and faster. No offence;-).

Keep it all up and modify al the helis in the world!!

  • That msr is brilliant! Looks even more fun with just just one blade! :)

  • 2blace co-

    ax

  • hey dave ive always wanted to see a coaxial rc heli with one blade on each rotor, would that be possible? i assume it would since each blade would act the same as how they do on your other single bladed helis. thus, the two blades shoud not cause any sort of uneveness. also, i saw a onebladed MCPX flybarless heli. it would be cool to try but i dont think you have one. so perhaps you could explore the dual single bladed coaxial heli?

  • since both blades on a coaxial heli chop the air to bits, my hypothesis is that it would be even more efficient than a fixed pich heli due to there being less vortex ring effect. i would try this but i gave away my coaxial. all i have is an air hogs heli i severely despise.

  • Your so cool I wish I was your neighbor

  • Dave, dont let age stop you from flying! get a fpv system and some video goggles and your good :)

  • Hey Dave, what do you plan to do with all of your RC stuff when your vision gets to much in the way? Thanks, Simon

  • excelent work, congratulation :D

  • would a one bladed rotor on a gyroplane be better or is 3 rotor blades better for lift? Greetings from far Belgium!

  • I've never owned a RC helicopter or plane.

But yet, I keep find your videos entertaining.

    Cheers from Denmark.

  • Nice one with the one bladed MSR. But you always take that one step extra and remove the tail rotor.. This is why I love watching your videos. Thanks for hours of entertaining videos Dave, just keep them coming :)

  • Awesome job Dave!! You never cease to amaze me!!

  • Another exclent video Mr herbert, i just got into flying rc helis and i baught the blade SR and i love flyin helis now.

  • thanks again professor herbert

  • Yes, I'll still need you, but I won't feed you, when you're 64!

    ;-)

    Excellent work, my friend!

My mSR has tail issues, I might give the notar idea a shot.

  • Dave, nice work, again! YT is full of haters. Your real fans know what you capable of and respect your advancements in this hobby. I'm sure you've inspired more pilots than any other RC channel out there. If we never think outside the box, then many things would not exist today. Innovation is the key to evolution.

  • @B4its2L8guy Thanks so very kindly for your words. I appreciate that very much. Thanks for posting you comment and happy flying. ~NightFlyyer~

  • WOW Dave 2 cool!

  • another Dave Herbert succes, great vid Dave, anyone still arguing now is to be considered a moron, pardon my french ! LOL

  • @beverke7 Thanks very kindly. I appreciate your candor and long time support ~NightFlyyer~

  • 64 is the new 20!

  • Neat stuff and informative as always Dr. Herbert!

  • I had someone come to me and ask to trim out their 450 Blade too... I found the rudder to be very sensitive, way to sensitive. Ill get to fiddle around with it more tomorrow. :)

Awesome stuff on the MSR, I got bored with mine a while ago.. maybe some modifications are in order! ^_^

  • I just wanna say: I like your videos very much ! Best Regards from Germany ! :)

  • @hwluxxbundymania Hello Germany from the USA. Thanks so very much for your comment.~NightFlyyer~

  • Seconded! :-)

  • Hey Dave I say no matter if you are 64 if I was you I'll keep flying until the last day that God give me, I love how easy you make it look to fly! Even in the Flight simulator I constantly crash! May be one day I will put some money on a real one!

I hope it is not to much to ask, what kind of video editing you have I'm trying to do something! and really like the way that you do your video! thanks.

  • @Migueldeservantes Thanks for your comment. It means a lot to me, especially when a person begins to realize they can't live (or see well) forever. LOL. Never give up. learn from your mistakes. and you will become an excellent pilot. I use Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus most of the time. Thanks again for your support. ~NightFlyyer~

  • Dear Dave,

What's your take on the Blade mCPx? I've had one for 1 month now and it's an awesome little machine that can perform mild 3D stunts, fly inverted etc.

    Love your work.

  • These one-bladers continue to blow my mind. So bizarre, like some weird secret weapon of the Luftwaffe! Thumbs up as always.

  • @taofledermaus Thanks so very kindly. I am blown away at how well the mSR flies with one blade. I appreciate your long time loyalty and comments. ~NightFlyyer~

  • first comment and well done mr herbert :)
