No one can replace Steve Rogers as Cap (although I do believe Steve has been brought back to life, he hasn't reclaimed his Cap idenitity) point I was trying to make is that giving the mantel of Captain America to Bucky was like passing it from father to son  since Bucky spent the most time with Steve and Steve would allow no one else to wear Bucky's old uniform

Agreed. Bucky taking over was a very emotional part of the story. It made things more powerful. It made me see Steve more as a human than a comic book character. One of the last people that came from "his" world he cares about taking over for him. I know Steve would be proud because he thought Bucky was going to commit suicide by going on suicide missions against the red skull. Now bucky has a reason to live and Steve has become a legend.

Not bad for a man that had been dead in continuity for over 2 decades. Also it seems Marvel plans to let Steve rest in peace as Thor summoned his spirit and Thor was able to confirm that Steve was in deed no longer in Midgard.
