My karate teacher/sensei told me that the schools which give out the belts/tests themselves aren't really getting the pupils up to scratch. They can hand them out willy nilly. If they came to a grading like I have to they would surely struggle. Plus it's taken me 5 years to reach brown (1/2 gradings a year)
I remember when I earned my brown belt (which was, at my school, right before the black belt) It had been two years since i had started training. I really did not feel I was ready so the next time I went to classes I wore a belt I had that was a few ranks lower. I just started up from there again and re-earned those belts.

@soulknitters I never said it wasnt a type of karate. All I said was that they are not the same thing. Karate concentrates 40% kicking and 60% punching. TKD is the exact opposite. Now, go back and read what I posted, you will see I said: "They are similar, not the same." As I said a few sentences ago, I never said anything about types of karate or TKD, just that they are not the same. You should probably also go get a dictionary and learn words other than stupid, it will help with school.

this is bad lol. ive been taking karate for a year now and im still a white belt. I should be taking my green belt test within the month though. Our ranks go from white, green, brown, to black. I have 5 sets of 3 kumite wazas, 6 sets of 2 sampo wazas(walking) and 5 kata. 4 green belt test we have to be able to do 500 pushups, and 24 rounds of 2 minute sparring with senior black belts. The first form in this vid is pinan shodan. none of the blocks would be able to stop a kick rom hitting them lol

im 7th kyu orange belt and i know beginners with far better technique, even the sensei has a bad chamber! this is not karate how it should be. and this kind of teaching leads to others believing karate is a weak style, this video is a PERFECT example of how there is no such thing as bad style, just bad teacher.
i dont like to bad mouth any martial artist but as a practioner myself im very passionate about karate, and i just wanna say that considering kihon (the kata they are doing) is a shotokan kata, there stances should be longer and there hikite (ready hand or chamber) should be alot stronger and near the higher ribs, not near there pelvis, these children need to be taught proper technique to be able to use there karate properly, and some of those children are blackbelt !

It took me over 7 years to get my black belt. How old are some of those Blackbelts? 5? K this must be a bad school cause the "sensei's" idea of really good for Black Belts is crap stance, crap movement shifts, really bad kieis and of course bad kicks, punches and focus. My first Karate class was infinatly harder than their 2 month "experience" to get their Black Belts. And last their chambers suck.

@bigkill013 If they are trained wrong then they may be over confident, and later not understanding that there may be fights that are to much for them to handle. If your going to learn a Martial Art you have to take it slowly and learn each move and perfect it. "Over confidence is the fall of many an athlete"

Wish I could have gotten my yellow belt after only 8 classes. That would have been REALLY nice. Haha. This white belt up front though is doing a lot better than that orange belt in the middle.
...seriously? I just had my first day of cuong nhu (hard-soft) and it was harder than their test. And there are like 44+ things I have to learn before getting my first green stripe, which is going to take like 1-2 months. Those kids need to find a better dojo if they want to learn real karate. And to get a black belt that young?( the little girl 0:34 ) It's imposible. In real life it takes years to get to the level of a black belt. That was really just sad to watch... T.T

I'm in tae kwon do and this is ridiculous, they have to cross the hands before they do every single block, and obviously they are not doing that, if you do not cross the hands you won't have much power so it won't affective at all.... my recomendation if your child is in this school change to another school because this one sucks
Blocks were wrong, didn`t come from the air, the blocks in a real fight (from seeing him doing this Kata at the beginning) the donw block wouldn't be affective at all..

its supposed to be used if ur being attacked by low kicks and such by multiple attackers from multiple sides. thats why they block, then punch. the turning is supposed to add momentum to the block and "sweep" the foot away.

No, this is very stupid. A good majority of martial arts styles don't even allow a student to go for their black belt until they are at least 16 years old. The ones that don't are mcdojos and are not good schools at all.

@bigkill013 If they are trained wrong then they may be over confident, and later not understanding that there may be fights that are to much for them to handle. If your going to learn a Martial Art you have to take it slowly and learn each move and perfect it. "Over confidence is the fall of many an athlete"

@Vampirezuno it depends of stile and the sensey to…if he created his own stile he can call the order however he likes and to give the belt because he asks for exam payment ...

@Vampirezuno It took me 7 years to get mine. I started at 9. Got my black belt at 16 and then got my knee blown out two weeks later. :( Oh well. Wish I could have gotten my yellow belt after only 8 classes. That would have been REALLY nice. Haha. This white belt up front though is doing a lot better than that orange belt in the middle.

...seriously? I just had my first day of cuong nhu (hard-soft) and it was harder than their test. And there are like 44+ things I have to learn before getting my first green stripe, which is going to take like 1-2 months. Those kids need to find a better dojo if they want to learn real karate. And to get a black belt that young?( the little girl 0:34 ) It's imposible. In real life it takes years to get to the level of a black belt. That was really just sad to watch... T.T

even though they are kids, this is pathetic, I know the whole point is to get the ball rolling, but they havent, you could teach a monkey to do what they are doing in about 5 minutes. I cant believe this video is even on youtube, its a joke and makes the school look stupid

I'm in tae kwon do and this is ridiculous, they have to cross the hands before they do every single block, and obviously they are not doing that, if you do not cross the hands you won't have much power so it won't affective at all.... my recomendation if your child is in this school change to another school because this one sucks

Blocks were wrong, didn`t come from the air, the blocks in a real fight (from seeing him doing this Kata at the beginning) the donw block wouldn't be affective at all..

idk...personally im not sure if my trainer allowed to hit me..but he tortures me in gym...like one time he cracked my rib for disobeying him...ive been good since then...if i dont try and show the way he WANTS something to be done pretty much were fucked...we got trainning 5 times a week 3 hours a day...its insane

i know i know.. its just for self esteem. in my opinion a black belt should only be entitled to those who are 16 years of age or older but theres money in getting kiddies to ''earn'' a black belt. in my real opinion thats all belts are is a way to make money and show ''rank''. im traditional and hardly care about belt color

its supposed to be used if ur being attacked by low kicks and such by multiple attackers from multiple sides. thats why they block, then punch. the turning is supposed to add momentum to the block and "sweep" the foot away.
i know this cus i had to do this for my yellow belt test in about an hour -_-

This seems to be a really bad school. A Mcdojo if you will. I shouldn't be the one to tell you but this training will only hinder you. It's not your fault your at where your at its your dojo's for letting you get a belt after doing kata's like these

If i remember correctly...to get a black belt u need to study the art at least 3-4 years or smthin (depends on the art),so this girl has no way to have a black belt,chasnes are that she couldn't find a white belt so they gave her a black one to tie her pants...though its lame.Plus these guys make 10000 mistakes and stuff,like not using there hands togethere and disbalansed stances etc.Anyway this whole class is lame as far as im conserned.

I'm thinking that this style is Kenpo. I can tell cause I do similar things in my class (I'm Kenpo) But I also learn Ju Jitsu.

No, this is very stupid. A good majority of martial arts styles don't even allow a student to go for their black belt until they are at least 16 years old. The ones that don't are mcdojos and are not good schools at all.

LOL i remember my first testing for the white belt test like a year ago! We have exams every like two months i think until we get to deputy black. I got tested after like 12 classes i think? I have go to ETF taekwondo so maybe it's differnet in other federations.

You breath out to release anxiety,(you wont get tired as fast)
And to get more power out of your punchs, Breathing pumps more blood to the muscles, The better you breath the more oxygen fed your muscles are, and yelling is a mindset, youll be more likely to do a powerful punch/kick/throw/elbow/knee.
