Check out my Mod photography shoot, strongly influenced by Bailey

  • He inspires me

  • that interviewer is a fool

  • David Bailey is such a cool guy.

  • I never seen one single image for David which makes a photographer out of him, well he is just a snap shooter, photography is Art while David is a un gifted person for that Art.

  • @rz67camera Shut up you TIT! DB's one of the greatest of all time; what an utterly uneducated piece of tosh to say. Fool.

  • @rz67camera RZ great camera, your comment lacks thought though.

  • 'shit not another ceiling' ..lol..

  • His is work might not be "political" but his beautiful person totally is: totally unaffected, genuine, raw, no pompous shit... A brilliant mind and a brilliant person.

Thank you David for letting me know that, somewhere out there, real intelligence is still alive.

  • 'Kay, who else thought this was the David Bailey from the Youtube Poop Manifesto?

  • brilliant interviewer and equally brilliant interviewee. great video.

  • Bailey's a renaissance man, and a brilliant photographer, who's a also got a great sense of humour and is a lot of fun to boot. Gorgeous as a young man, he still has something...he's funny and yummy and I like him.

  • @Angel63456 totally agree! :)

  • Sic Transit Gloria Mundi....

  • WHOA David what happend too you man?!?!? Oh wrong David Bailey...

  • This man is one of my great heroes. And he is so right here. The 1960s never ended, and in a way it was the first modern decade. But the cultural revolution of the west (and in Japan) started much earlier, probably in the 1920s, well before the second world war, but was interrupted by the terrible, senseless events in the 1930s and 40s in Europe and Asia, and then by neoconservatism in America. It was only in the 1960s that the real change appeared out of the underground to the mainstream.

  • baileys is so good :) (I mean the liquor)

  • O God, I give up. I'll leave you to your sweeping statements.

  • Brilliant!

  • @Picnicl fucking communist

  • 4 ppl are modern "celebrities" !!!!!!

  • fucking hate celebs nowadays,no talent, all these eejits like jordan and paris hilton can only get noticed by taking their clothes off....no class or elegance like audrey hepburn or grace kelly

  • fascinating

  • Great video!

  • David Bailey rocks ,, c butt ,

  • twat

  • New favourite photographer

  • "Who's controlling who?" haha genius.

  • what a quality bloke

  • LOLBORING

  • So true what he said about today's celebrities!

  • I have been a photographer/Graphic artist for thirty years . I can categorically state more respect is given to people who collect shoes that to photographers.David states that he doesn't care about peoples opinion of him Touché! because the day I started to take pictures for me marked a pivotal moment. Galleries have an obnoxious attitude towards the digital medium. Google Lanza Martineta

  • Totally agree with David regarding todays Celebrity Culture, for the most part their all a bunch of idiots

  • Brilliant interview, and his view of modern 'celebrity' sums up my feelings perfectly. A wonderful and very honest photographer.

  • I love the way he brushes aside all the arty farty shit that comes with being a photographer. The truth is he is just taking photographs. He knows this and he doesn't need the bullshit.

  • I had a warm fuzzy feeling of happiness looking at his final picture that the journalist took! what an awesome guy!

  • 60's ruined everything

  • @darkstar3x16 exactly

  • I clicked on this thinking it said Bill Bailey. I'm such an idiot.

  • Marx would say;

Class is relationship to means of production.

A capitalist owns capital.. ie the owner of a company or a banker.

Managers & foremen are middle class; they manage on behalf of the capitalist.

Middle class is also shop keepers, taxi drivers, plumbers etc. who both own & work their own business.

Working class is the vast majority of people.. everyone who works for wage.

ie almost everybody. Even traditionally middle class roles like nursing and bank clerks are working class now.

  • @marsCubed Nursing is a skilled profession requiring years of training.

  • @nilbud Nurses are often highly skilled workers, they sell their time in return for a wage to employers. Some nurses in more managerial roles, particularly where they get much higher pay, may identify more with managers, such loyalties often break in times of pay cuts or victimization etc.

Class reflects economic interests. Owners want to get productivity out of employees.

However workers can decide to refuse to compete into poverty pay or be divided for myopic & damaging bonus spiv dogmas.

    :)

  • @marsCubed I don't think taxi drivers are middle class! And I think it depends on the type of business they own.

  • @geniusbogger Nouveau rich in my opinion in a bad way.

  • Yeah they did, 41 years ago.

  • David Bailey is a hoot.. and underrated!!! he has made tremendous .. contributions.. !

  • @catjohnson007 He's overrated. Some ok snapshots of old celebrities posing - so what? They're so two-a-penny these days. And he was hardly the first to think of it either.

  • @RuthSLHare David Bailey's work is great. He was at the heart of the sixties explosion of creativity. You weren't there, so you don't know beans about it.

  • @Bouncybon Baileys legacy is celebrity photography, and that's it - there is nothing else to him, his work is limited and shallow (unlike Don McCullin's work, as he mentions here, which is versatile). Bailey knows how to point a camera at a glamourous person. Anyone can do that. His photographic style is not unique. If he hadn't been taking those photos, someone else would have. And your comment is ironic since, as he says here, the 60's never ended! We are all still living 'there' - or 'here'.

  • @RuthSLHare There has been so much Baileyesque work since his heyday that I can understand how you would be unaware which work came first. Bailey's body of work is important. If you don't understand that, I really can't help you. And no - "Anyone CANNOT do that".

  • @Bouncybon Please don't patronise me, I know perfectly well what came first. I also know that since the sixties it has all been more of the same.

And I still maintain that anyone can do what he did because there is no proof to the contrary.

  • @RuthSLHare You know fuck all about Bailey's work and you know fuck all about photography. Anybody CAN'T do what he does, if this were true, he wouldn't be where he is today. And for your information, he is an F.R.P.S. which means Fellow of the Royal Photograhic Society. This distinction is not just handed out to anyone who can "just do that", it takes a portfolio of superb images and a lot of talent. But then you wouldn't know that either would you? Cunt.

  • @catjohnson007 Er, you clearly know not much about the 60s - he is not underrated.

  • LOL GREAT INTERVIEW!!! made my day

  • genius

  • I'd love to watch an video of David Bailey interviewing a copy of himself!

  • that guy must be the definition of mad genius, unable to remember names of his children, the interviewer, but able to see the other side of things in a comprehensive manner, which I'll bet is why he's able to do those kinds of photographs :P

and an aesome personality to boot, lol nice :)

  • Lulu Jordan ? lol !

Good he turned down Gaga mediocrity

    Go Lahdaaahn <3
