oh yes, definitely a solid 9/10 on the cheese-o-meter there. no electric drumkit means it misses the perfect 10. great playing from Tommy as always though.

i liked the guitar boogie vid(from same concert) but this is just another vid of him i dont like ! he is missing something. im sure mark is agree. lol. but he is one of the best still. when it comes to picking that is
My two favorites are T.E. and Eric Johnson. Both, very unique in their own way. I'd love to see them together in concert, not as a comparison between the two, but because I know they would put on a hell of a show together!
hahahah loll at the bass player hes awesome. man i loved this guy since i was like 5, mum had the album and i listened to everyday, then so many years later i find this on youtube and still know every note haha
que gran guitarrista es tommy es un virtuoso tamnto en la electrica como en el fingerstyle (acustica) y en esta si es dificil tocarla... esta cancion tiene algo parecido a yanni en la armonia......
Noone is the most better in the world, there's tons of amazing players AND musicians at the same time. Tommy is one of them. and there are tons of amazing not very known ones as also. I'd love to see when people is going to stop comparing strawberries with onions. Music is either good or bad, pain and simple.
I prefer guitar players like Joe Satriani above the "sweep" guitar players, offcourse Joe can also schred but he only does when it's a good moment for it, when the song screams for it ;)
also Tommy knows how to play guitar and he puts alot of emotions into it, that's the face of a guitar master
Nothing to say, maybe the best guitar player on earth.....many people think speed is the most important thing to be a guitar god. But speed is less important than passion, feeling and knowledge. But Tommy plays perfect, any mistakes and also emotional. 5 Stars!
Lol, I don't know what you talkin about, but watch some of his other stuff, especially new stuff on the acoustic... he's lightning fast w/ precision...
@Junik1981 I agree but one thing to add... Tommy is also one of the fastest I have ever heard, his fingerpicking on the acoustic outdoes metal shred guitar in speed. Best guitarist in history
What I like about Tommy Emmanuel is that he combines incredible speed with emotion. I think that is what makes him one of the greatest guitar players; the fact that he's so good in both aspects
I'd rather hear him solo on an acoustic like on his 'live one' album where he is just on a different planet from anyone i've ever heard. Sounds harsh, but on an electric with a back up band he sounds like any other good guitarist.
Ah, I don't know. There's good, and there's Tommy on electric. There's something about his lead style which is removed from all the good players. Like with Andy Timmons or Steve Morse, he manages to hit notes that most people never even consider.
It is awesome how he plays acoustic though. I'm just more into the very slightly cheesy 80s-esque guitar anthems.
Tommy's an outstanding musician on any instrument (also an expert percussionist). No offense, but after watching tons of these videos I'd have to say his real medium is the acoustic. The reason is only his ability to pull as much or more from the audience on a sole instrument as he does here with a full band. Now if we can just get him to New England...
No disrespect to all the people who have said they like this, but I am SO glad that he plays acoustic now. Obviously, this is technically genius, but not something I would listen to more than once, personally.
No offence taken. The full blown version of this song performed with the Aust Philharmonic Orchestra on Classical Gas is far more powerful and doesn't have that 80s sheen that this does. Still, great to see a few decades worth of Tommy on youtube. Cheers.
Lets not make Tommy that old! He just celebrated his 52nd birthday in May. I think he's been playing since he was 4,maybe 6, unless you count when he was dancing to the washing machine when he was in diapers!! Joanne
