  • What a bad but handsome devil.

  • I love seeing where great actors got their first big break!

  • ddl was so gorgeous!

  • Oh, wow. I had no idea he was in this movie.

  • what accent is he using? I can't tell.. sounds like Rhodesian or something.

  • @shittyfagg South African.

  • Day Lewis reminds me of Christian Bale in this

  • ben kingsley: good morning

ddl: one day i will come to your house, wherever you're sleeping... and i will slit your throat.

  • When I first watched Gandhi, I was very surprised to see Daniel Day-Lewis near the end of the credits, with the bit parts.

  • my good he was so young...hes acting has perfect even for that bit.

  • Great actor Ben Kinsley! Liked him in Shutter Island too! <3<3

  • Bill the Butcher just got pawned by Gandhi.

  • It is weird to see Sir Ben Kingsley so young and darker complexioned. Never knew he was actually of partial Indian descent.

  • I bet when that kid gets older he'll abandon his child.

  • two winners for best actor meeting for the first time

  • perfect Afrikaner accent. ppl are right. Even here he's gold.

  • Bill "the butcher" was the greatest villain ever created for film.

    DDL rulz

  • even here he acts great

  • And the Oscar goes to Daniel Day Lewis!

  • i bet he harassed indians for 6 months to get into character lol

  • @jjk696969

    hilarious!

  • @jjk696969

    hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • It's Gandhi in Daniel Day Lewis!!!

  • He spent 3 years preparing for that role

  • Git eff the poivement you bliddy cewn"

  • Neds have always been with us, they're not a post 1960s phenomenon. I like the way Daniel Day Lewis's character is exposed as a mummy's boy.

  • I'VE ABANDONED MY GANDHI! I'VE ABANDONED MY GANDHI! I'VE ABANDONED MY BOY!!

  • Lewis what a good looking young man seriously

  • @herfefeni17

Why is it so hard to believe that the dude from Last of the Mohicans was a good looking dude. He actually still cleans up quite nicely at this day.

  • Seems Gandhi really smartened up DDL

Taught him stop being a punk and start drinking milkshakes

  • No idea it was Daniel Day Lewis until today !

  • What an amazing piece of Trivia ! Thanks.

  • This is a good scene to watch for anybody who's ever been bullied or pushed around.

  • Shut your eyes... it's Freddie Mercury.

  • Daniel is already natural in this movie, despite the brief appearance. It's good to see him career taking a turn for the better later on.

And Gandhi is an awesome film to boot. A definite watch.

  • little did they know...

  • Who would have thought in 1982 that some guy in a bit part in a three hour movie would end up becoming not only the finest actor of his generation, but one of the finest of all time?

  • @WWAAK He is so underrated.

  • I rememebr being pleasantly surprised when I spotted DDL when watching Ghandi. Just when you thought the movie could not be any better you get a sudden tiny cameo from another genius like DDL!!

  • Daniel Day Lewis gave a preview of what to expect from him in future roles. Well done sir, that proves the point that no matter how small part your offered take it if your an actor just starting out.

  • i wonder if DDL is still using method acting even in small roles or a "not so colorful" character.

  • Well he uses it in not so colorful characters for most of his career. Not sure about small roles.

  • Uh-oh. I think someone's going to drink Gandhi's milkshake later.

  • OK, that was good.

  • @BimmyLee83 ROFL.....

  • @BimmyLee83 hahhaahahahahha gd one!!

  • 0:43 Gandhi spoke a Christian Verse... Jesus would be very proud.

  • @BimmyLee83

Gandhi I drink your fucking milkshake

    srrppppp

    I DRINK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DDL sporting the Newsies look? YES PLEASE.

  • haha lol @ the guy who called ben kingsley a thesbian. its thespian!

  • I saw that comment too! Maybe he thinks Ben Kingsley is a theatrically-inclined lesbian? hahaha

  • DDL does look like gandhi in there will be blood

  • this is how great actors start...Who would've known Daniel D. Lewis in that short 7 second piece woud become a two time Oscar Winner

  • Did You Know That Daniel Day-Lewis Is Only In 18 Films!!!!

    Thank You Wiki!!!

  • That's because he stays away of shitty films, he doesn't care about fame. I love you Dan !

  • haha wow reading from the comments, ppl seem REAALY confused. The thug in the clip is DDL, he had a really small part because Daniel was relatively unknown then, now he's like one of the best actors working today.

  • lol, the thug is ddl, not gandhi

  • how long do you think it took DDL to prepare for that part?

  • 1:16

  • i don't get it

  • My bad. I didn't mean to be replying to your comment. Someone before said that Daniel Day Lewis wasn't in this, I was just saying what time he came in at.

  • Hm , I never realized DDL was in Ghandi, I realize he did not play ghandin rather, the racist south African. I think he is one of the greatest thesbians of all time.

  • thespian

  • 1, 2, 3. One of these numbers is spelled "Three". Which one is it?

  • 1, 2, 3. One of these numbers is spelled "Three". Which one is it?

  • Ben kingsly is not half brown. He is whiter than chalk.

  • His father is Indian.

  • His birth name is Krishna Pandit Bhanji. He's half Indian.

  • DDL is the young "punk" talking to his mother. Ben Kingsley is playing Gandhi... as he is half Indian.

  • Wow Gorgeous !!!!!!! (Daniel)

  • He look so handsome

just a small part isn't it

but, now he turn to be one of the great actor of all time

  • isnt this ben kinglsey...im confused...

  • yeah it is, the guy playing gandhi, i guess he is such a good actor it makes you question if it is really him

  • good point,

     both are great actors anyways.

  • ya, funny heh?

  • It's a good start for the greatest actor of all time.

  • A phenomenal actar like lewis in a 10 second scene as a miniscule character in a 3 hour movie???

  • Kevs: So what is that in comparison? ;)

    10 sec/3 hours.

  • At the time of this production, the name "Daniel Day-Lewis" did not have the cache it has now. He was a young actor who got a role he was probably totally excited about... working with Ben Kingsley, etc. and making an epic. This was a good move for him.
