All of the old vets, reactivate and rejoin! It's free since the servers close mid december with TOR on the horizon than. Plus the ending is up for us to decide, that and also get your TOR guild in material and meet up with everyone.
Starsider has a medium population at 4AM EST! So join up, it's actually a pretty damn great game now... I started in closed beta and yes it's not the original but they even rerolled the NGE for us and the last few months!
I was wondering, does the combat in this game take any skill? If I was level 40 and another guy was level 45 could I kill him just because I am better as a player?
If I have the trial version but I payed the subscription fee can I play this? The forums say no trial version but I payed for mine and I don't want to pay for it again (buying disks)

BTW omgpaco EVE Online is shallower on a few levels than SWG pre-CU is so I wouldn't call it exactly bias, the only difference is that CCP > SOE by miles and EVE had the time to blossom but if SWG kept its pre-CU form well then... EVE would have serious competition right now and the TOR devs woulda been shittin themselves at the prospect.

@rvbfan4297 i think its mainly because of what they did to the classes. in pre NGE, if u wanted to become a jedi it would take u for fucking ever, i am talking like a full year, to even get the chance to become a jedi. and even then if u died as a jedi it was permanent. after NGE u could start the game as a jedi and ppl were pissed because it was like all there hared work was wasted. so ppl left

I highly doubt it tho, they will probably milk the game for everything it's got, then when there is little to no players or enough income, they will shut it all down. If they made it free and put in some adds or something to make some money off it while not making people pay, way more people would come. I think that if SOE would make SWG free-to-play people wouldn't complain without looking like a total asshole about SWG being "ruined" even though it still is one of the most fun MMO's I've ever played. If SOE ever recovers from the hack, they first thing they should do is make SWG f2p and then the population would jolt up pretty high like when GR came out for CoH! This game was the best MMO before CU, I remember that 80% of the server stood in the major cities in the game protesting the CU, GM's then teleported us to another planet in the wilderness so we wouldn't crash the server :P

It's in closed beta right now, so its available. The difference this MMO has over other crappier mmo's is that it is fully voiced acted / scripted. No other Mainstream MMO out there as this. Graphically, i'd hardly call SWG ground breaking nor innovative, its 10 year game engine.. But then MMO's arent about ground breaking graphics, its the storyline and the involvement..plenty of glossy kids games out there for graphically obsessed.
@trooperalex01 All you have to do is have the original SWG installed on your computer, then you download the emulator for free, and no you don't have to pay for a monthly subscription fee just have the game installed.
@LordEizen Over time attrition takes its toll, and i'd seriously doubt they will get much beyond Empire Divided. There needs to be the player base to warrant and a non defragmented development team. SWGEMU have had some seriously rough times over the course of the past 3 or 4 years, and it doesn't help that the player base for these private servers is dwindling to such an extent that you are either forced to play NGE for more players or you just wait it out or code your own server.

I always wanted to know what pre cu/nge was like, because I didn't start until after the updates. I'm not particularly fond of the generic mmoprg, but while the new swg isn't completely generic, I've heard stories about the fact that pre-cu was completely different. LET ME AT IT!!!!!

@Renorick1 I spoke to a dev face to face once and asked why they don't implement a classic server. He basically said its too expensive to maintain two code bases so they wont do it. I did make sure to mention to him there was no hope of me coming back unless it was to a classic server though I doubt he cared lol

according to most people, i myself started just after they changed from cu (combat upgrade) to nge (new game enhancements), but even i think pre-cu is better, if pre-cu was anything like the current version of swgemu is, or future patches, it's way better than original swg

Hello Galaxies lovers. I am one of the more active members of Galaxies Reborn and wanted to give you all a warm welcome when you join GR. To answer some of the questions out there, the only thing up and going at this point is the Test Center, which there isn't much action going on there but will introduce you to some of the gameplay and elements. The Emu should be completed some time in June or July from what I read. Yes its both free and lag free. Oh and this is a lot better then SOE's version.
Would SWG work on a system with a shitty graphics card, but 960mb ram, 3.6ghz. Im getting a new graphics card anyways but i might wunna play this before i get enuf money.

i never played pre-cu but what really grabbed me about the game was the crafting. its like a whole new level compared to other MMOs. dont get me wrong everything was sill great even after pre-cu and if its better than when soe took over i might go insane
Okay, I have been playing Dethpod's WoW test server, and I love it (props to Dethpod). And I am a big star wars freak, I love Galaxies. I want to know how I connect and if a trial version of the game is able to connect.
By the way, one thing I still can't wrap my brain around: WTF did SOE take TKM out? That was the coolest combat style I've ever seen in any game! Doesn't make any sense at all..

You have to install the original game disks to play. Downloading to use it for the emu will get you banned from the Emu.

correction: swgemu is a pre-cu emulator, emulating an older, better release of swg, before soe started turning the game in to something worse

according to most people, i myself started just after they changed from cu (combat upgrade) to nge (new game enhancements), but even i think pre-cu is better, if pre-cu was anything like the current version of swgemu is, or future patches, it's way better than original swg

this brings back memories. GOOD memories, why did SOE change the original Star Wars Galaxies game, it was so good. It was the MMO that I always wanted to play, I am sure this EMU server will be popular

Hello Galaxies lovers. I am one of the more active members of Galaxies Reborn and wanted to give you all a warm welcome when you join GR. To answer some of the questions out there, the only thing up and going at this point is the Test Center, which there isn't much action going on there but will introduce you to some of the gameplay and elements. The Emu should be completed some time in June or July from what I read. Yes its both free and lag free. Oh and this is a lot better then SOE's version.

Would SWG work on a system with a shitty graphics card, but 960mb ram, 3.6ghz. Im getting a new graphics card anyways but i might wunna play this before i get enuf money.

i never played pre-cu but what really grabbed me about the game was the crafting. its like a whole new level compared to other MMOs. dont get me wrong everything was sill great even after pre-cu and if its better than when soe took over i might go insane

Okay, I have been playing Dethpod's WoW test server, and I love it (props to Dethpod). And I am a big star wars freak, I love Galaxies. I want to know how I connect and if a trial version of the game is able to connect.

Oh man, I have been missing pre-cu SWG for ages now.. can't wait to join this community.
I played SWG, WOW, LOTRO, AOC and tons of other MMO's but none hold a candle to the original SWG. I remem when I was a lil' newb, ridin' into Mos Eisley and seeing a HUGE Krayt Dragon-like creature, twice the size of the starport. It was someone's pet as I later found out lol..

The current milestone we aim to complete by April 30th, however this does not constitute an SC Launch, simply a completion of the necessary systems. this video is awesome!!!!! this music its so epic. cant explain it but it creates a feeling of.....whats the word? a feeling of awe. as in behold this epicness kinda feeling. i am a major starwars fan. and i got this games trial demo. i got the demo few days ago. its a fourteen day trial though. but i got my bounty hunter to lvl 32 so far. and well. i never knew this game back during the pre cu period or watever it is. after seeing this pre cu looks way better!. thnx for inspiration. keep it up.
