I agree that he is wonderful, and that he has grown greatly over the years. He is a passionate powerful player, but I still am also a big fan of of khansahibs Shahid Parvez and Shujaat Khan!
super video, main sir ke bahut bade prashansk hu , tub say jub say main 7th std may padhte the aur main un bhagyashale logo may say hu jinko panditje say baat kernay ka mowka aur unko live sunny ka mowka meela hai .
Bimalendu (Budhaditya's father) studied with Vilayat Khan's father. Therefore they belong to the same garana (or style). Budhaditya is afther VK's death the best performer in this style without any doubt.
tell me who deletes the comments! I had earlier posted a comment on Budhaditya's music expressing that his immense talent is going to waste because of his over-dependance on Vilayat Khan's music and should have gone the Rais Khan or Shahid Parvez way both of whom have a distincness of their own though they have learnt a trick or two from Vilayat Khan's handling. Inspite of such lovely meendwork Budhaditya is just a shadow of Vilayat. it's a waste. But now the comment is not here. What happened?
Budhaditya did not study with Vilayat, however they are the same Gharana. Budhaditya's Guru was his own father Bimalendu. Bimalendu was not a professional musician however he studied an astonishing number of Indian instruments under a whole spectrum of masters.
Yes Budhaditya did not study with Vilayat khan, he is just hugely inflenced by him. But did you know the fact that this talented sitarist also learnt under two other greats, sitarist Balram Pathak and vocalist Jagdish Prasad?
where did you hear this? if this is true it would only have been for a very very short period. I lived with BM and studied with him intensively over a 3 year period, (91-94) and he never mentioned anything about studying with anyone other than his father. Although he many times mentioned considering Pathak as a GRADE A sitarist - and this means ALOT coming from Budhaditya!
thi scomment of yours sounds really strange - 'Although he many times mentioned considering Pathak as a GRADE A sitarist - and this means ALOT coming from Budhaditya!'.
come on.. the musicianship of Balram Pathak is not dependant on Budhditya's comment! whether he considers Balram Pathak a GRADE A sitarist or not is immaterial. Balram Pathak is not who he is because of what Budhaditya thinks of him. He was hailed as a great well before Budhaditya started performing.
We are in this listening business for quite sometime Edward. We know. We have seen a lot. for furthur enquiries i recommend you to contact Jagdish Prasad and Vinod Pathak. You will get your answer.
Fantastic. Ustad Vilayat Khan has played this same gat with Ustad Bismillah Khan in an LP recording.

No doubt Pt. Ji is the only one that took V. khan Saheb musicality to a higher level.
though his musicality is really clasical his depth is understood by few.
the other two contestants shahid ji and Shujat ji are very original musicians
but i don'tthink they carry the torch of the gharana the way Pt. ji does!
and nobody can touch his superior meands ,knowledge and tone!!!!!

It looks like it was homeboy himself. He is probably very happy with his achievements, and i don't blame him.
