As a bassist, Billy Sheehan is my idol, and main influence. He is also a very polite and kind person, and personally, his religion has no influence in my opinion about him.
I love billy as a musician, in my teens he was my Idol, (well before the days of the internet where we can find out what our idols believe in) , but as I worked for a steve vai tour (locally supplied LX production in the UK ) where billy was the bass player on the tour , i found him not a nice person, rude fast to cast dispersions when his bass rig did not work onto the local PA crew , a real shame .. as far as his religion goes he is a barking nutter .
I don't agree with Scientology but I find the "lady" very disrespectful to Billy. Billy seems like a class act, you guys should treat him the same way. Just because he's brainwashed doesn't mean he's an evil person.

I love billy as a musician, in my teens he was my Idol, (well before the days of the internet where we can find out what our idols believe in) , but as I worked for a steve vai tour (locally supplied LX production in the UK ) where billy was the bass player on the tour , i found him not a nice person, rude fast to cast dispersions when his bass rig did not work onto the local PA crew , a real shame .. as far as his religion goes he is a barking nutter .

I always had lots of respect for Mr. Sheehan, especially for his playing with Niacin. He always seemed like a cool, down to earth guy, but seeing him that weak and brainwashed is nothing short of tragic.
Although he's such a strong character on stage, off stage he's just as desperately looking for answers to the "great questions" as everyone else, to the point of buying into the whole Scientology bullcrap.
That's quite sad and disillusioning.

@robertvdpoel Not at all. I saw Billy a few weeks ago at a QA event in Hollywood and he had the same attitude and maintained the same body language as during this talk. He was very positive and attentive.

Yes,I agree. Only culture and even intelligence are not enough, unfortunately. I guess that a stong sense of self-reliance and self-steem are necessary as well to avoid getting trapped by those sailsmen of wishful thinking. You see, I've never felt any necessity of religion of any kind whatsoever - no to sound arrogant, but I am enough for me. But if I had to choose some religion it would at least be an old one. Not some that is younger than the scotch I drink.

But I remember once getting involved w/ a person who I knew I couldn't trust, but I put my logical brain aside & kept them in my life out of desperate desire for a friend at a time of severe lonliness. Even top scientists get involved in such relationships as we all find our critical thinking is not much comfort during times of crises. I suspect cult members go through the same only their desire is for religion instead.
