  • Love U2 1984.. The Unforgettable Fire/the awsome mullet/the leather pants/the Edge without a hat/Bono really going for it. Brilliant stuff. and this is a great interview.

  • At the end I was all like: "That was nice." "LAAAA LAAA BAMBA!!" "WHAT THE-?!"

  • I saw it played two nights back to back here:

1985-05-03 Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Hollywood Sportatorium

1985-05-04 Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Hollywood Sportatorium

    Seriously. Amazing.

  • @Lighteye67 Saw it one night before at the USF Sundome in Tampa--didn't realize it was rarely played live.

  • Siral, that's nonsense, though I'm most drawn to their very character and performances, btw.

  • Sorry did you say that after UF they left their success behind? Like it was their last good album? Pardon me, but have you listened to The Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby? To me all of their albums (perhaps not the latest) are just as good, if not better in some areas.

  • The title track to " The Unforgettable Fire" is their absolute materpiece though.

  • I remember taping this back in the day

  • dave1999artwork - you are very much in the minority here. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course.

I agree with Elkor though, the last 10 years have seen a lot of bland music being released by U2, but I think you can also blame that on the current music scene and other bands like Coldplay who are around and creating boring music that sells

  • I think you should wait 'till next album (after NLITH) they are going to start over (sort of)

  • Bono really knows how to work the mullet!!!:D

  • @MyGr8DaneGuinness more like he really knows how to talk!! Gaaay zuss. :P but i do love him!

  • bonos voice was starting to crack on the jt tour ( he had good and bad days )it wouldnt have sounded as good as this

click my videos i have uploaded a soundboard version of this from montreal its awesome

  • paulsey paulsey paulsey good times bad times

  • Fenomenalna stvar ...nadam se da ce je svirati na sledecoj turneji ...

    WIRE 84 + MOFO 97 = U2 FOREVER

    U2 SRBIJA - FACEBOOK

  • I love this atmosphere, despite the image&audio aren't good. The date of this performance is 85/04/12. Wire rocks, pity they didn't play it on JT Tour!

  • Damn i remember being at this tour at The Joe Louis Arena in 84...

  • damn i remember watching this on tv! wire sounds so good played live.

  • pity u2 only played this a few times sound s great live

  • they played it on most uf shows then never played again

    so played quite alot

  • is the retard givin me a -1 a u2 actually listened to u2 from over 20 years ago or just watch youtube clips.

    I think i can guess

  • hahahahaha!!!

  • My god, I remember this when it was first broadcast! Thanks for posting!

    Memory overload!

  • that's quite a mullet!

  • the interviewer tried to trip bono up.but bono just bullshitted him good style

  • That is the mullet to which all other mullets must bitch up and pay homage.

  • This song gives me chills,,,one of U2's best songs ever

  • listen 2 that guitar rift, still good after 23 years

  • love the edges sounds but 4 me adams bass

  • Yea man this song is so underrated, its ill!!!

  • Brilliant.I think these guys could make it.

  • best riff ever by edge

  • Tell me about it, the NME gave away a free remix disc which was just as good, fucking bastard awesome shit, best track by he greatest Group EVER

  • My God that was so '80s lol.

  • There is so much passion in this song, it's amazing. Awesome guitar work !

  • Love this song and Bono CAN sing it today. Even others.

  • Sorry man, U don't have idea at all of what U're talking about.

  • Bono was best vocally 1983\4\5 Unforgettable Fire album has the best vocals. Those effortless tenor voice is sadly gone now.

  • Too bad that Bono would never be able to sing this live today

  • My band is covering this song at a U2 cover show on St Pat's day...greeeat song!

  • Beautiful song....Awesome guitar in the begining. Marvellous U2

  • U2's most underrated song. This track (under a higher quality listening format) trucks along like a thunderstorm. Criminally overlooked.

  • totally agree man.savage song

  • i concur my friend, and how they haven't played Acrobat?!

  • Yep,this is one of THE great guitar songs period. The studio version is like another world and I'm always discovering new sounds in it.From the chimey intro to the wave-crash guitar slides are this is a very visual sounding piece.

  • It's great to see this clip again....My sister wiped the copy had only a day or so after it was on tv, I could have killed her.

Luckly for me she repaid me by getting me a ticket for The Longest Day at Milton Keynes Bowl a while after.

  • Bet that was a great concert, would have loved to have gone but in the end didn't see them live until the Joshua Tree.

  • Are there any vids of Indian Summer Sky live out there?I bet that one would sound good live. Not sure if they ever played it live though.

  • Hi, seems this was only played live 9 times during 84/85. Be very lucky to find any footage I think....but you never know !

  • @351WindsorStang It's out there.

  • Quite the rolling of the voice by Bono.Wire really comes alive, something about that album the volume seemed to low, ambient, but i guess it was mostly recorded in the big castle.

  • If I could move my right hand as fast as the Edge I'd never leave the house.

  • Sounds like dave1999artwork just watches U2 videos!

  • i love the unforgettable fire album for it's experimentation and atmospherics

  • Boy had only one decent song? You're retarded. Your opinion on War is the same....You also forgot OCTOBER, which is a third solid album pre-joshua tree.

  • The Unforgetable Fire only had two decent tunes on it- Wire and Pride. Same with War, the only decent songs were Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Year's Day, the rest were unlistenable, demoish. Boy only had one decent song too, which was I Will Follow. I the first complete decent album they made was The Joshua Tree. 'Desire,' from Rattle and Hum, marks how Americanised they became since 87' it's my worst voted U2 song

  • Are u crazy ? Ever heard of something called A Sort of Homecoming ? Unforgettable Fire ??? And I'm not even bringin up Bad .... though the live version is much better

  • Bono seems pretty arogant in this interview.

  • Out of curiosity, which album/albums (by any artist)would you consider listenable from start to finish?

  • In no particular order- Nevermind- Nirvana Definately Maybe- Oasis Never Mind the Bollocks- The Sex Pistols The Dark Side Of The Moon- Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here- Pink Floyd Surrender- The Chemical Brothers You've Come A Long Way (baby??)- Fatboy Slim U2- Pop Radiohead- The Bends Bryan Adams- Reckless The Stone Roses- The Stone Roses Happy Mondays- Pills Thrills 'n' Bellyaches Lock Stock & Two-Smoking Barrels (soundtrack) Trainspotting (soundtrack) New Order- Lowlife
  • I mostly share your choices...

As a fan of these artists & albums, why don't you take the time to post any one of your choices (with interviews) on YouTube for public scrutiny along with your reasons for doing so?

Opinions are essential, as are manners.

  • i think Pop got snubbed out because radiohead released Okay Computer at the time, and that was meant to be the new indie shit. I myself prefer U2 over Head anytime- radiohead is either very sad or morbidly depressing, whereas U2 tracks 'elevate' u if yer feeling a bit down in the dumps. Keep in mind that despite their being a huge number of musicians out there, not alot make it. The ones that do r lucky, but the 1s who have an album thats all killer no filler seem to have been destined all along

  • hmmmmmmmmm what about The Smiths the Queen is Dead, Depeche Mode Music for the Masses and The Cure Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me?. I think you missed Joy division and the smiths there !!

  • I don't have any interview footage. I have a crappy 25 sec video of electric six preforming at newcastle uni n circa 2004 that's it.

  • Sadly this just reminds me of how boring they are now. This song and the record it's from are a million times better than anything they've done in the last 10 years.

  • OOohh right ....
