i thought there was singing in this? oh well it still sounds cool, i learned the words from the beatles' cover so now i can sing to this. this jazzier version sounds amazing!
Has anyone here seen 'The Great Gatsby' with Mia Farrow and Robert Redford? In the movie a lady plays 'The Sheik of Araby' on the phonograph but the version is by far the best out of all the versions, problem is I dont know who did that version, all I can say is that it's mostly done by a very eerie trombone soloist, it's stunning.
Another great rendition of "The Sheik." This is certainly just as good as, if not better than, the Victor rendition by the Club Royal Orchestra, which was probably the best-selling version of the song.
It is interesting to note that the "Sheik" is the lowest number Cameo record, No. 200, recorded in January 1922 by Bob Haring's Velvetone Orchestra.
As far as I know the 1921 versions of the Sheik, this is the best recording. I particularly like the rhythmic banjo chords at 2:06. Thanks for this one.

I suppose something went wrong. My comment was about Sheek of Araby, and I've the impression yours is a comment on Doing The Raccoon?

For some reason I've always loved this slinky tune and this
jazzy version is even better than the others I know.

Another everlasting hit showing the fascination of the West with the "Orient" which at that time started in Turkey...
Superb illustrations of fashionable ladies.
