Playing drums is one of my favorite hobbies, and I play with just as much soul as any other drummer. Rock Band was the catalyst that started it. I haven't played Rock Band drums in months, I've only been drumming exclusively. Whatever Rock Band didn't teach me, I picked up myself and I fucking enjoyed every minute of it. I practice almost 2 hours a day every day on drums... without Rock Band.

You'll likely get a better score since the cymbals will often cause cross-talk or dropped notes compared to the pads.

Eventually the Ion cymbals do break, so I would recommend replacing them with different kinds of electronic cymbals. I prefer Pintech, they are cheap and accurate.

Headphone splitters would not work well at all. I do actually have a legitimate double bass splitter for my Ions, but I really only use it for Expert+ on GH. And I actually do worse trying to use double bass on this song.

The cymbals come with the Ion drum kit. As for when I hit this cymbals, I more or less guess. Typically I can tell when to hit them by looking at certain note patterns.

obviousally u dont have the ion drums... when u hit the symbols its plastic so there is no rebound watsoever. also if u dont have all 3 symbols its really annoying playing yellow and red then havng to go back down for the blue note. The symbols also drop notes (his doesnt obviousally). so ya those "retards" who only use the pads r actually really smart

Ion cymbals aren't that great, but they do actually have amazing rebound for a cymbal. The biggest flaw with those cymbals is they break too easily, that's why I replace broken Ion cymbals with other types of electronic cymbals. But if you don't have good cymbals, you probably want to stick to the pads. Cymbals make playing really fun though.
