frannie has issues that were spilt over from when she was younger. she's the eldest but in her perspective all the attention seems to go to shelley, that's why she gets so sarcastic and insulting yet apologizes when she sees that she has hurt their feelings. sometimes i feel the same way that she does but perhaps that's because i identify with what she feels.

Only myself, and I would NEVER make light of a film of this nature because I've been sick with eating disorders for nearly 12 years and KNOW that no matter how seriously a person takes recovery, if they are in an environment filled with unsupportive or emotionally unavailable people, it is more damaging and threatening to recovery than anything else. It was Jillian Medoff's intention to portray this; there's nothing funny about it.

Maybe one day I'll be okay :) And it absolutely wasn't all her fault entirely; EDs are one of the most complex illnesses to treat because they are built on so many foundations. I watched this 8 months ago apparently, lol, but I remember being hyped up on adrenaline during her "SAY I KILLED HER!" part. I suppose I should have put a :( when I commented. I hope I didn't come across as being a big B-word to you or anything!

I just felt bad for the mom, and SOMETIMES people who watch movies make assumptions about someone that aren't founded; a few said the mom did kill Shelley and some seemed to be joking, while others claimed she never had any feelings (I also saw some pple giving the mom in "Ice Princess" a harder time than I thought they should). Sometimes I get fired up too :) I really do hope you do okay! Take care.

I think I will delete my comment now that we've had this conversation; the mom apparently has ED issues of her own not dealt with and feels responsible for how they affected her daughters; she feels guilt but she doesn't know how to cope with that guilt OR the severity of her daughter's branch of the illness. Given her controlling personality before, it is easy to see how she seemed to grow even colder. She just couldn't cope. You take care, too!
