In Brazil, HeroQuest was released with very few plastic pieces(furniture), and all miniatures were cardboard. the dices didn't have the symbols carved-in, they were prints that wore off kinda quickly... and some instructions I saw on the US versions were all printed in one book. And even with all those cost cuts, it was considered a very expensive game back then.

played this alot as well when I was a kid,Used to go to the library and photocopy the blank mission page to create my own quests. Ive got this for my Atari ST, was out for Amiga and Spectrum too I think.

I inherited this game from an uncle, he obviously got some good use out of it as a kid and had even painted a couple of the figures, quite well (apparently getting sick after a few, lol).

Me and my mates used to play it, however the crucial 'quest book' was missing!! So basically we made to rules up. Still managed to have fun, but to play it properly sounds awesome! Big up board games!

I bought this game in 1990 and I have three expansion packs. I Painted all the heros and the big bad guy and some of the monsters. Pretty cool game. I'm going to set it up again and play. I'm 50 years old now but I've been a gamer since I was a kid. Once a nerd always a nerd.

the only piece thats made the distance unschathed is the dwarf. nice and compact (this taking into account the evil pieces were multiple.. they had there fair share of hits too).. Also had 3 of the add on quests, rise of the witchlord? the ogre one.. and cavils keep i think it was called.. ah.. to look at your prestine copy..

I personally thought there was a 'lot' of Lord of the Rings in HeroQuest... loved the game though.. used to play it with my two older brothers and one of their friends occasionly.. the problem is/was... we were fairly young 6-13 and when you're that young ... care of the property wasnt high on our list apparently... so the Barbarians sword points broken off, the elfs swords broken and hes stuck on a cardboard tile because he was squashed, wizard similar... gargoyle has no head... list goes on..

Say what you want about me, but myself and others (family/friends) have been playing this game for 15 years!

We've advanced it overtime; painting the furniture, heroes & monsters. Adding newer upgrades to the game by ordering things offline to contribute to the game play. Building new cards, extending quests and rules along with characters. for example we have heroes such as a paladin, centaur, and ranger. Its just IMENSE!

I still have a copy of this game and it's still in really good order. I always took good care of the thing. If people were playing I would use sheets of paper other then the ones that came with the game. I think the game paper pad that I have is only missing 4 pages now.

I still have mine and its in mint condition. I see on ebay and amazon there going for around $150.00 to $200 brand new, I see some are going for $80.00 used. Man think god I have a copy, I would'nt be able to fork out $100+ for a board game.

Hey John. Now, I'm not sure if you've played the board game I'm about to recommend, but it's definitely in the same vein as Hero's Quest. Not the same, but this review reminded me of it. You should check out the World of Warcraft board game. I'm sure that even people who aren't fans of WoW would love that game. It takes a long time to play, but it's a ton of fun to play as well. Very, very deep gameplay for a board game. Rather expensive, though.

HeroQuest is a "gateway" game. It gets people into more advanced RPG style games like D&D. Seriously though I loved this game I still have 2 sets of the game and the game was played to death. One set is in great condition the other is really used. I wish someone would release a new HeroQuest with an update. Another great game is Descent it's very similar to HQ but much more advanced.

I got this game when i was about 10 and loved it!! had asked for it for christmas cause one of my friends had it and got it. but after about a week of having it, the enemy skeleton scorcerer (cant remember what he was called), went missing. I am convinced to this day that he stole mine and painted it cause his was broke, and that is one of the main villians in the quests that you get with the game (as far as i can remember)!! Bastard

Oh man, this game was awesome! Me and my friends played it so much that a lot of the pieces broke, got lost, etc. I had a few expansion packs as well. I ended up giving all of the stuff away because my friends grew out of it and we stopped playing it. Hard to find these days, intact anyway. Not that hard to play, and very well done for its time.

I got this game in the year 1990 when I was eight years old. I'm from europe and so I have 4 Expansions, a lot new miniatures, spells and so on, everything in a perfect condition.

I'm so proud to be one of a few to own this game with all expansions.

This game is the godfather of all other miniature games.
