It's funny that the Democrats have been the party of the farmers since Thomas Jefferson's push for an Agrarian society. The closest the Democrats came to being the party of the farmers was William Jennings Bryan and the Agrarian unrest of the 1870s. Even the South voted Democrat for a little less than 200 years, being a chiefly Agrarian society. They would have never voted for the party of Lincoln anyways, but that's not the point. The Democratic party has abandoned farmers. Amazing.

The best way to preserve a species is to eat it, because once a market for it is developed, industry will make sure it survives, thats why we have farms that raise live stock. Has anybody heard of an endangered cow or chicken? Just in case you didnt know farmers raise fish as well, including bait fish like minnows.

You'd have another Republican from California yelling on the house floor about the loss of jobs in the fishing industry as the Chinook disappear (forever, by the way), and demanding, passionately, that the water sent to the San Joaquin Valley be diverted back to the rivers where the salmon grow. I have yet to see Mr. Nunes acknowledge the complexity of this issue and what's at stake on the other side. Not just a 2-inch 'minnow' but the entire bay-area Salmon population.
