  • Ian Thorpe was a freak........he is awesome!!!

  • Wat a race

  • I remember watching this race live. You could hear everyone yelling at Thorpe to GO!!!! in all the houses down the street. I yelled myself silly and my family all danced around foolishly. Greatest race ever. Still get emotional watching it now.

  • Medalha inédita para o BRASIL nessa prova, foi lindo de se ver, incrível! Edvaldo nadou dimais dimais dimais!

  • Relay is looking good again for 2012:

Eamon Sullivan: Former WR holder and last Olympic Silver in 100 Free.

Matt Target: Last Olympics finalist in 100 Free.

James Magnussen: Most recent world champion 100 Free.

    Ian Thorpe: Actual Human/Fish hybrid.

But I'm sure America will be fine... yeah...

  • omg what a race

  • A particular poster on this thread has been rallying the good fight against us arrogant Australians for 3 years and contributes to the the majority of the posts on this video. You go girlfriend. Did Australia molest you as a child?

  • @stevothebevo acttually im seeing an Australian now ;) thankfully she lives in the UK dont have your mentality :) . and you dont think you are arrogant i suppose ? its an honor you follow me these 3 years lol. since you mention about molest.. are you one of those creepy Australian dude ? ( 3rd highest rape crime rate in the world )

  • @swfearth good for you buddy all Australians are awesome even if they live over in that horrible country. :) Mate haven't raped anybody yet but will do my best to get Australia to No.1 . I remember arguing with you years ago and was surprised you still bother. Had a laugh that you are still making sure us Australians know our place in the world. Be well. Hopefully we will destroy all comers in London.

  • @stevothebevo well that horrible has your queen =) .. do you see i'm " bothered" compared to you Australian ? sadly you people think too highly about yoursel ;)

  • @stevothebevo oh about rape crime rate , you dont have to try very hard you are aleready number one in world if you don't count 2 other messed up African countries ;)

  • @stevothebevo With Missy Franklin , Lochte , Phelps , Grevers , Caughlin , Anthony Ervin , and the rest Of team Usa , Australia won't destroy anybody in London ; I bet on that mate .

  • smash em like guitars

  • @swfearth are u trying to call rugby union our national sport, you're off your chops! hardly any of us play it and we've still won the tournament twice.. our national sport is AFL where we dont wear helmets or padding because we can take a hit and when the team wins the grand final we arent retarded enough to call them "world champions" like your baseball and basketball leagues do, you arent world champions if you win your league in america!!! btw remember the americas cup 1983, winged keel mofo

  • @zaffa69 oh no ! no helmet and pads again lol so tough ! i can guarantee your tough AFL players would SNAP IN HALF if he play in American football .the impact of tackle is completely different . And yes i see your AFL before in sydney couple times it was quite amusing . its funny that you Australia people still call American is ignorant with comment like you lol.

  • @zaffa69 about world champion when the win , yes it is very arrogant .. but lets get real NAME ONE TEAM IN THE WORLD that could BEAT the champion team in NBA (basketball ) , NHL (ice hockey) , MBL ( baseball)... please amuse me, name one. And yes i remember America cup you only won ONCE ? lol i dont get it what is your point ? look at the kiwis how many times they won America cup ? and i dont want to mention how many time American won it ... you people are too funny keep it coming ! lol

  • @zaffa69 and yes Rugby union IS YOUR NATIONAL sport ! i NEVER SAID it is your MOST FAVORITE SPORT. i dont know about you but im pretty sure Rugby Union is much more popular in Australia than Ireland .. are you gonna deny it ? but you miss the point tough Australian guy .. REMEMBER your MEDAL PER CAP argument ? " mofo" heh

  • @swfearth to be honest, rugby league has way higher participation rates in australia than union, and union is definetly not our national sport because incase you havent noticed, we are wayyyyy better at league than union. AFL is also up there, infact if anything, AFL is our national sport. I also think you have us confused with new zealand? so yeah....

  • I remember watching this live in the evening, one of the best sporting moments ever for me. America were also the greatest country in the world back in 2000 and the world felt like a much safer place. Not like now, now America is falling and the world sucks!

  • ooo now like most Australian when they cant argue anymore they start to call name , or swear ;) is that all your Australian people got ?

  • @swfearth Breaking news, your countrymen and whatever Serena Williams is, suck at tennis. Sam Stosur you rock

  • @devolair1 let me see Williams oh you mean the one who won 13 , 14 MAJORS ? what you got ? ... like i said every time Australia can beat the US in anything they think they are on top of the world. the US is GOLD standard for them . THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR proving my point about your Australian ! keep it coming .. ;)

  • @devolair1 ooo one more thing would you like me to alert you when the American win something ? i will gladly to do so ! ;) .. here come London2012. and i would love to see your GOD Ian Thorpe swim WITHOUT the cheat FULL BODY SUIT . hehe

  • @devolair1 hey i didn't see you come here abd brag about how you beat up the Irish 15 - 6 last night in rugby worldcup ! your national sport and all ! lol with 4 times population compares to Ireland no wonder your Australia destroy Ireland wow ! :)

  • take the full body suit off. queer

  • is there a dvd with all races maybe?

  • Fucking love it. Well done Aussies. A great Olympic moment.

  • it's unfortunate that hall jr was villified by the australian media for his famous guitar comment... he seemed like a nice guy... :/

  • @floralaura73 More like a typical arrogant yank

  • @devolair1 i think Australian are arrogant than anyone else .And they have zero reason to be so . your big ego come to rescue your low self esteem huh ? name one thing we people in the world should respect your Australian people. yes give me one

  • @swfearth I'll do you one better and give you several 1 Pre-paid postage 2. the fridge 3. the underwater torpedo 4, the electric drill 5. powered flight 6. the notepad 7. feature film 8. thrust bearing 9. the tank 10. Bionic ear 11. pacemaker 12. the pickup truck or ute 13.zinc cream 14.solar hot water 15. black box flight recorder 16. plastic glasses 17 the ultrasound scanner 18. wine cask 19.staysharp knife 20.inflatable escape slide 21.rack and pinion steering 22. orbital engine

  • @swfearth 23. race camera for motor sports 24.dual flush toilet 25.wave piercing catamaran 26. winged keel 27. frozen embryo baby was born on 28 March 1984. 28. baby seat for cars 29.buffalo fly trap 30,Multi-focal contact lens 31.spray on skin 32. underwater computer 33. EXELGRAM – anti-counterfeiting technology 34 Anti-flu Medication 35. the scram jet 36. Aerogard, insect repellent 37.Polymer banknote 38. and the most used invention is Wi-Fi.. Its good to be an Aussie
  • @devolair1 haha really thats all you got ? and we should respect you Australian because of these ? lol you just tell us how insignificant your people are ! " good to be Australian" haha yeah for your standard yes take a look of American inventions and open your mind ;)... ooo what is it ? " dual flush toilet " ! lol

  • @swfearth How dare you disrespect the dual flush toilet! wash your mouth out with soap young man!

  • @devolair1 no disrespect . but it is INSIGNIFICANT just like your Australian and your Australia. .. still dont understand why you people are so arrogant lol really .. what is it ? " we are the best" , " best country in the world"... best of what ? bragging about nothing ? lol too funny

  • @swfearth dont look now but your coming off as a little arrogant

  • Comment removed

  • how ? i just point it for you , your Australian is fine but far off from "best of in the world" like your little fantasy. you often call American is arrogant ( and to be honest they have many reasons to be so) but look on these youtube comment , you will see your Australian always brag about you are the best in the world ! still wonder why. really

  • @swfearth are you a product of GWB's No Child Left Behind program?

  • @swfearth I think Australian's "brag" only because it's assumed that countries with a far greater population, money and history in sports would easily beat us in anything........ yet they don't.

  • @1dschamp you know i didnt have to look and i already knew you are Australian with your medal per cap talk. let me see you have the same amount of atheles as the American in Sydney 2000 and you still complain about medal per cap. i dont know but i think the US beat you about almost every thing they are interested in. in sydney 2000 your best sport was swimming and the American still beat you more than 2 times in gold medals in your own water .Am i wrong? look at the Canadian in 2010 and learn

  • @swfearth Lol you got fucking owned. Seriously, you have been trolling Australian videos for years - are you really that jealous?

  • Comment removed

  • What about the finishes on the aussies. All four swimmers finished so strong. Legendary stuff.

  • IAN THORPE !!!!!!

  • Thropey's stroke was legendary! What a beauty!

  • Nice doping and EPO

  • you cant fuck with the THORPEDO, you just cant

  • well americans can always have the greatest moments, although we do have a lot. Just sayin.

  • thorpe was a boss.

    sincerely,

    an American

  • lol michael klim went out on a 22.8 on the first leg of the 100 free. now, that's the 50 slit of cavic's 100m butterfly! insane!

  • @Freddiewgbs with the fast suit =) . Opps i forgot Thorpe is wearing one all these time too

  • @Freddiewgbs because the 2008 and 2009 new plastic suits

  • Not rly a great race... The Australians had the lead most of the time anyway... The mens 4 by 100 in 2008 in Beijing was waaayyy better

  • @Superponageify You are a goose! Not an Aussie no doubt!

  • 'We're gonna smash you like guitars'. Yeah, Gary? Say that again? Ah, good times:-)

  • Hmmm. 1.) Not the greatest swimming race in history anymore. 2.) Did the the Americans really say that and France just copied them in 08?

  • Ozy ozy ozy oy oy oy

  • man was michael klim pumped or what?? :)

  • What a GREAT race. That has to be up there with the final in Beijing. I'm a huge Ian Thorpe fan, but as an American I just say WTF! Never really liked Hall Jr, but he's fast no doubt.

  • i think the new greatest swimming race in history is the 2008 400 free relay

  • klim's race stood out amongst the rest..fiedler was good also...hall swam a faster leg than thorpe but wasnt enough.

  • thorpe is amazing he is an inspiration to all but dont forget the amazing efforst of Klim, Callas and some other dude hahah

  • @wduncanator

the other dude is chris fydler :)

  • Good to see Thorpe returning in 2012

  • most amazing race ever, ever!!! So inspiring!!

  • Look at Thorpes kicks compared to Gary Hall in the last 25m. Gary was spent and Thorpe was just turning it on

  • thorpe really knows how to put on a show...

  • Poopin on kids, go aussi!!

  • Kilm and Thorpe are swimming in London 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeahhhh

  • @SurfStefGoldCoast Michael Klim is returning to swimming too?????

  • @kl050196 Yeah!! :)

  • @SurfStefGoldCoast Whaaaaaaat? I've got to see that.

  • @SurfStefGoldCoast is this true? i truly hope so

  • Hey,i know alot of people diss Gary Hall Jr, but he is (was) a brilliant swimmer, and besides swimming and sports in general need a few 'characters & extroverts'.

Because of Gary Hall 'antics' before this race, it made this race probably the most exciting race for any nation to watch because of the USA vs. Oz rivalry had just been taken up to the max by GH jnr. Well done!!

  • THE BEST RACE EVER!!! i agree , what a nail-biter, im not american or australian, but listening to the commentators makes smile every time.

Well done for posting this amazing race!!

  • Australia should have got DQ, Thorpe got straight out.

  • @SurfStefGoldCoast- he was out just before the last team touched the wall, so they gave benefit of the doubt i believe

  • ian thorpe vs micheal phelps..... bring it on!!!!!

  • Great commentary Dennis Cometti

  • goosebumps in the final moments...go aussies!

  • Typically yanks

  • I may be an American but Ian Thorpe is definitely my IDOL! I truly feel like an Aussie at heart when I see this race. Gary Hall Jr. is a complete tool and I don't want to be any way associated with him what so ever so I'm glad he got his ass kicked here!

  • as an australian, what an incredible race that was to watch back then.. i was 10 but i can remember it well.

  • what's the ideal height for swimming?

  • champions

  • GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AUSTRALIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SUCK ON IT AMERICA

  • hall jr absolutely killed the first length. watch his stroke rate compared to thorpes slow and rythmical one for the first 50. then in the second 50 it slowed down so much it was nearly as slow as thorpes. and as thorpe has a much better stroke and kick, he easily powered past him in the last 15m

  • Look at that, Popov entered seventh, and came out third wearing only briefs, talking about a great leg!!!

  • @cargalpi

Good shout mate, Popov , a true legend!! fantastic no nonsense swimmer!!

  • i feel really slow now

  • hahahahaa wow this happened 10 years ago. get over urselves

  • i'm from the states but i like australia, i know this was in 2000 so its a tad late to say congradulations..but......congradulations! (: and i won't mention names.... but i don't think some of you should be getting so heated. good race, good team, good win. chill. these swimmers swim because they love it and want to represent. NOT because they want people to get angry at a computer screen. can't wait to see you guys in london!

  • the americans are all like, "yeh we're totally gonna win this" and the aussies are all like "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOTTTT UP IN HERE"

  • Great race! Love seeing the Aussies beat the arrogant yanks!!

  • @bees67knees

I gave Australia all the credit in the world for winning and beating the USA, but what place did the arrogant terrence and phillip finish in?

  • @Sammy Americans have fat people too.

Australias 20 million to USA"s 300 million and we are better than you at tones of sports.

  • @FizzyDizzyJJ

that true you aussies are amazing in sports. I love St Marys basketball team in California, full of aussies. They play hard and play smart.

  • Talk about pressure--- Klim swum WR pace for the relay, but not for his individual! talk about team player!!!

  • yeah ausssie, suck shitt americaaaaa!

  • Power Point 2:30

  • america is the best

  • Absolutely fantastic. The Oz Games one of the best in history for me !

  • @swfearth well the air guitar thign was because garry hall jr (i think that is his name) came out a few days before and said they are going to smash the australian 4x100m relay team like guitars

  • @rakerake001 nah it was the war between Garry Hall jr and the whole Australian swimming team . remember the French said the same thing to American in 2008 , did they do anything ? playing air guitar when u won something at home is pretty low . You don't think that do u ?

  • thats what you get when you fuck with the might of Australia!

  • @brynjones11 accept for that was the only time the "might" Australia ever won. At home . and only managed to win 6 gold compare to the US 13 golds ;) . can you imagine the American play air guitar every time they won ? would be funny heh

  • @swfearth mmm only managed? your comparing golds? Australia only has around 22 million people all up compared to the US 300+ million, what do you expect, Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi

  • @ElectricSpaceFrog here come medal per cap excuse from australian again , so original heh

  • I just have one question. Does your chin get sore with Phelps' balls banging against the them all the time?

  • @ElSpewtardo i thought Thorpe is gay ? lol this question should apply to you . Once again Australian attitude ;)

  • Thorpe is def one of the the top 10 swimmers ever but so is Hoogenband. I dont think Thorpe is the best ever either - Its very easily Phelps. As for comparing the greater out of Thorpe and Hoogie , its difficult when Hoogie was pretty much a sprinter while Thorpe was always a middle distance swimmer. Both of them were freaks though. For me, I put those 2 in the same category as Popov obviously below Phelps.

  • @ElSpewtardo well that's because you only those swimmers . I Just don't think within 2 Olympics you witness 4 best swimmers all time . Im sorry like most of Australian you suffer your own media hype. Thorpe only won one individual race in 2000. 2 in 2004 and he is in top 10 ? nothing special about it . there are Hundreds of swimmers ( male or female) could do the same.

  • @swfearth ESPN did a special on the greatest swimmers of all time a few years ago, and Thorpe was included in the top 10, and that is an American Network, so no its not our media hype. Secondly, nothing special about it? Its not just the Olympics, he also broke many world records and won many world championships in his active period. Id like you to name the 100s of swimmers that accomplished the same. lol

And there was a bunch of swimmers I didn't mention like Mark Spitz, Matt Biondi etc

  • @ElSpewtardo mind you that ESPN is MEDIA also , world championship is not as important for a swimmers , Olympic define their career . 100 swimmers that won 3 individual gold medals in 3 olympics ? you can look for yourself .. sorry but mark Spitz , Matt Biondi , Janet Evan ... are diff league compare to Thorpe.

  • @swfearth I mentioned those 4 because they were the most recent ones I could think of but definitely worthy of the greatest swimmers of all time. Popov competed in four Olympics, Hoogenband three FWIW. So its not just two you ignorant jackass

  • @ElSpewtardo heh love it when you call someone "ignorant", you jack about swimming. and of course Thorpe is swimming god for Australian , and thats all they got " ignorance" indeed heh.

  • you still dont get relativity don't you ? lets just say pick California and spend as much money as the whole USA. and there are about 20 million people to pick from , thats 20 millions not 20 thousand not 200 thousand to pick 500 athletes . You really don't think that California "country" can compete with Australia ?

  • @swfearth If Australia had the same population as USA, does that mean we'd win 210 Gold Medals? So whilst you are proud just to look at the bigger picture, (btw 13% of your population is below the poverty line) the fact is you aren't nearly as good as AUS, not to mention Nauru who have picked up 27 Commonwealth Games medals (over 6 games) for a population of 12,000! And if California is so good (which I doubt) how useless are the other 280 million of you?

  • @TheNation6 dude i dont event know if i should reply to your comments lol , didn't make any sense or logical . And what's up with you Australian with America obsession ? you have to compare yourself to American ... " how we are better" .. funny.

  • @swfearth haha don't worry, I can safely say there's no inferiority complex on my end. As for my "obsession", I just like to prove people wrong. You, however, have commented on this video consistently for the last 7 MONTHS, so i suggest you take more caution in labeling others "obsessed". When ignorant Americans make inflammatory and inaccurate comments, people will be queuing up to prove them wrong. Evidently I wasn't the first in the queue.

  • @TheNation6 right like how American leave comments like my country is better than yours right ? lol and not only you i'm talk about , im talking about million of Australian when they talk about the USA " we are the best , we have best beaches , best weather , best people ..." blahblah .. like the American care lol. How about prove me wrong THE NATION ?

  • he know he couldnt swim anymore i meant to say. the truth is hes not even in top 10 best swimmer ever let alone best ever . ever heard of the name like Matt Biondi, Michael Grob , Mark Spitz , Alexander Popov , Janet Evans ... to me Grant Hacket was even a more special swimmer than Thorpe . Thorpe was not a fast swimmer neither endurance swimmer .

  • amazing race

this and cathy freeman's 400 were the greatest moments in the best olympics ever

  • @TheNation6 "best olympics ever " to you an Australian you meant ? ask people around the world see if they know who Cathy Freeman is . or what she won for that matter , let alone best olympics moment ever .

  • @swfearth I don't expect you to remember an event which you didn't win, and really just put that comment out to antagonise you.

In terms of being the best Olympics ever, Juan Antonio Samaranch (President of the International Olympic Committee) announced so at the closing ceremony on 1st October 2000. Neither of the following games in Athens or Beijing were given that honour (nor were your Atlanta games). So rather than "ask people around the world", why not ask the guy who organised 6 of them?

  • @TheNation6 haha that's relate to your comments about your 2 best ever olympics moments ? lol and give me a great dude even Commonwealth games in Deli they call it a success lol. you Aussie people got sucked in media too easily . as you believe Thorpe best swimmer ever .

  • @swfearth well I should clarify that as an Australian and because of the home crowd, I found them to be the best moments. I don't believe Thorpe is the best ever, and I'm mature enough to admit Phelps is quite incredible. I would however remind you that Thorpe retired at age 24, so we'll never know what more he was capable of. Half the reason I enjoyed this race so much was because the Americans came out overconfident and got sent packing.

  • @TheNation6 Thorpe retired at 24 because he know he could swim anymore. his performance when down hill since 2003 he knows it . to be honest with you Thorpe like to be in spot light more than swimming. and how in the world a swimmer won one individual medal in first olympics, 2 of them in the second , even mention the best ever swimmer ? think about it its all about your media . Hooganband won 3 golds medal too and he won at more important race 100m free , two time

  • @swfearth lol @ Thorpe being slow in 2003. He dominated his pet events in Athens in 04. He quit in 06 because he'd been swimming for 20 odd years and was sick of it. In all honesty, I think he could have lowered his records if he swam on in the LZR of 08. The problem was he had completely lost the drive to train. He had already achieved everything in the sport.

  • @ElSpewtardo It was fun while it lasted, but I pass the swfearth torch on to you, ElSpewtardo. If we continue to confuse him with valid arguments and proper grammar, hopefully he won't have time to run for President or anything

  • @TheNation6 yeah your medal per cap argument ;) i live in NY doesn't mean im American . i'm pretty sure i can speak at leat 2 or 3 other languages better than you yo;). by the way your Australian accent sux heh. no offend but ask people around. ;). and "valid arguments" ... lol your comments down right stupid and pathetic . "oooo we are better than American because.. fill in the reason here, Aussies.." lame.

  • @ElSpewtardo i never said Thorpe not a good swimmer , but that's it a good swimmer , he's not even top 10 best swimmers all time , let alone best ever and im sure your Australian people believe so. Hooganband was a better swimmer than Thorpe they both won 3 free styles golds in 2000,2004 . but look at the distance they swim . Thorpe is not fast swimmer neither endurance swimmer . Suit ? Thorpe entire career had advantage over others with his special made swimsuit...

  • AUSSY AUSSY AUSSY, OI OI OI

  • stop arguing....enjoy the video or go elsewhere

  • The greatest 4x100M Freestyle Relay of all time.

  • jason lezak! he's a veteran. he may not have gotten a gold in this race in sydney but in beijing....he made it happen for the US!!!!!

ok...so we lost this race. but the australians needed a win like this. after all, the olympics were in their own country.

  • BUUT I still support you in this argument, swfearth doesn't realise how big Australia is in the sporting world, overall, ESPECIALLY considering our population. we have about a fifteenth of the population of USA yet we still match them overall in sport.

  • @Pepsimaximo1 so how BIG Australia in sporting world ?name one major sports that's played around around the world and you dominate it.? you must think you win more medals in Olympics than countries like Brazil , Argentina , Spain... that's why you are a better sport country than them ? you can proud at your country but you think you are GOD SENT in sport is just funny , thanks to your self-professional media ( notice only you people argue population ?)

  • Comment removed

  • @swfearth Also let me just say, both Australia and the US are at even development, if anything US is further developed than us, then logically the country with a higher population would have more people that can be exceptional at sport, therefore you SHOULD be better at sport overall. And the US is great at sport for their population, you must just realise that AUS is less than a fifteenth of their population and still equalling them in sport.

  • @Pepsimaximo1 do you realize there is Winter olympic ? how are you doing in these Olympic ? and last winter Olympic in Canada (1/10th of US population) won the most gold ever , beating the US second place . like i said before when come to the sport the Canadian can beat anyone anyday and don't complain about the population . just like the Kiwis All Black can beat you in Rubby Union any day , and they are 1/5 of your Australia population .

  • @swfearth Oh yeah, also, did you realise the climate in Australia? How easy do you think that would make it to train in, compared to somewhere like Canada? And so okay, we are not that great at it, but we still won a few medals in it, and for us to do that is like Jamaica doing the same thing, same climate etc. Only difference is that Jamaica is less developed.

  • @Pepsimaximo1 yes i realize the climate "genius" . you did pretty well AT HOME in 2000 SUMMER OLYMPIC . but that was the best you can do. The Canadian won the MOST GOLD last WINTER OLYMPIC , and they DO NOT COMPLAIN about population , only the Aussie does.Get my point ? Its so strange that you realize your climate in Australia but do not realize climate in Canada . Actually its not strange, you are just being Australian

  • @swfearth Okay, I've taken a look at your 2 year arguement with that other guy, so I've come to the conclusion that your just too close-minded to believe anything I say, no matter how much evidence. I'm gonna be the bigger man here and just stop this childish arguement, I hope you can do the same.

  • @Pepsimaximo1 closed minded ? that's rich , because i said that the Australian is so delusional when come to sport ? Australian you are NOT god send in sport , get over yourself , now that "closed minded" dude you loose a argument and call me name ? heh . and pleae give me the "EVIDENCE" about how wonderful and dominant Australia is , then i shut up.

  • @Pepsimaximo1 back to original point :Aussie population whining . How many athletes did you send to the Olympic games ? here some stats for you since Australian like to talk about number and population: 2000 Sydney Australia 632 athletes 16 golds 58 total medals USA 586 athletes 37 golds 94 total medals if you want i will give the stats of 2004 and 2008 too. Now Aussie do some statistic.

  • @swfearth that doesnt argue your point......you dont understand obviously. america has a larger pool of people from which to cultivate talent. thats like saying if san marino sends 800 athletes to the games and wins 16 gold its not that big a result given their population. thats your argument.

  • @duffman5800 so you would beat the All Black every time in Rugby Union since you are 5 times stronger ? ( 5 times more populate ) . or all in sudden you will argue about "relative" ? like i said look at Canada last Winter Olympic they won more gold medals than any one else ever did . they they complain about population ? dont forget you have 23 million people , not 2300 or even 2 million.

  • @duffman5800 And one more thing Duffman5800 , why the heck you sent 600 ( the most in 2000 ) athletes to the Olympics but don't expect to win ? just make up number ? that only tell you one thing, you put a lot of money for those sports program . And i really sure hope that your athletes have your mentality when come to the Games , " Oh they are better than us because...", pretty lame.

  • @swfearth HAHA dude those comments barely even made sense. your embarrassing.

  • @duffman5800 right they don't ;) keep whining about population dude

  • @duffman5800 oh wait you don't know what "relativity" is , i forgot you are Aussie lol , so you think if Australia have 300 million people , it will won 200 gold medals for every Olympic right ;) lol

  • @swfearth omg you are so stupid. thats not my argument at all. simply, your argument was we sent more athletes than us to the games, so therefore, we can't complain about the population relativity argument. which is, obviously, a pathetic argument.

  • @duffman5800 im stupid because .. ? lol you still didn't explain me why the Australian sent the the most Athletes to the game and didn't expect to win . again look at the Olympic in 2010 , when the Canadian won the most golds ever. the country has 1/10 population compare to the US.

  • @swfearth we sent the most athletes because our sporting interests are so diverse. we simply competed in a number of events because our talent base is so wide, although shallower than the us, i.e. competitive in more events but dominant in less, due to our lower population. Canada did so well in 2010 winter olympics because so much of their population and sporting attention is directed at winter sports, to a degree that is disproportionate relative to other countries.

  • @duffman5800 ok so you admit that you have wide interests in sports , you invest money and time in the the sports . Now you argue about talent pool , i gave you the example between US and Canada . the two countries have the same sport interests , Canada came out on top last time with much shallower talent pool also. How do you explain that ? think about this if country like Brazil , Argentina ... invest as much of money and interest in Olympic sports , not only Football , you will see the diff

  • @swfearth lol look i cant be bothered arguing with you anymore, your comments barely make sense.

  • @duffman5800 barely make sense to you lol . you just can't accept you and your Australian media about medal per cap crap make you the best sport nation in the world . lame

  • @swfearth but it does.... if a country with 8 billion people and a strong sporting culture beat usa in the medal count by 6 gold, would you say they are a better sporting nation?

  • @duffman5800 yeah i would . even country like Russia now they don't do very well in Olympics . But i still consider they better sport nation than Australia. like i said you don't consider or don't know about " relativity" you cant only sent that many Athletes to each sport, and there are only that many sports to compete. And Australia sent A LOT of athletes to the games .

  • @Pepsimaximo1 and another thing i want to mention . i said name me the sports that widely played in the world , not the one like Netball, Criket .. ( notice i didnt mention the American dominate in Baseball ,American football ...?)

  • @swfearth Okay, that is because American football is only played in America, genius. And I'll have you know, rugby (both Legue and Union), Netball and Hockey are some of the most popular team sports in the world. If you don't count them as popular then I assume that you think "popular" is soccer/football, and that's it.

  • @Pepsimaximo1 American foodball only played in the US u said ? heh " genius" . j Hockey yes its wildly played in the world , how about table tennis ? ask you this question if the those countries like Brazil , Argentina , US, Germany, Spain.. embrace Hockey ( have professional league) . you would think Australia do well in Hockey ? like i said you Aussi people r so delusional . Netball ? lol its Commonwealth sport, much like Baseball for USA and Latin America sport

  • @swfearth Also I am not counting on any statistic right now, I've just analysed the comparison between America and Australia in every sport, as I actually watch pretty much every sport. If you were interested in every sport and not just your little pet ones, then you would know that. However if you REALLY must, I'll get some stats for you. If I can be fucked.

  • @Pepsimaximo1 do me a favor give me some "stats".
