He sees other sinners climbing as well and, afraid the thread will break and he will be back in hell, tells them to get off 'his' thread. It's that moment that the thread breaks and they are all sent back to hell. This version of Hell also happens to have a pool of blood that the sinners are drowning in and even that was included in this level design.

Interesting fact for Tetraninja and anyone else who sees this, this temple is based on the Buddhist story called "The Spider's Thread" One day the Buddah is walking around in Paradise and looks between two Lotus flowers and can see into Hell. He spies a sinner who in a previous life had spared the life of a spider. To repay this, the Buddha drops a spider's thread to him and he begins to climb up it.When he is at a certain point,he turns to check his progress.

u dont actually need to take out all his arms in the 2nd stage. once u get his Koloktos' great sword u can go straight for his legs. also something i learnd is that the chandelier in the middle of the room is just for show, the first time i fought koloktos in the 1st stage i thought i had to knock it down on top of him but no its just to make you think that so when u try to knock it down u die :(

I thought this guy was really easy. In the second part don't stop at 1 arm just start swinging the whip around taking off as many as you can when they are stuck because it makes it so much easier. I actually took longer on the first half because I also kept trying for his head, but his second phase went quick because as soon as the are were stuck I just started Z targeting with the whip and pulling. I took off 4 before he got loose and I found I needed his sword.He never even called his minions.

I learned a really cool fun fact today. It turns out the ancient cistern is based off an old Buddhist tale "The Spider's thread"

In the story the Buddha looks through a lotus pond and at the bottom of the pond he can see hell. In hell he see's one sinner and tries to save him by lowering a thread down. The sinner tries to climb it but the other sinners in hell try to climb it as well and the thread breaks under the weight.

gotta give props to Nintendo for going the extra mile on this one

The City in the Sky (which has chicken-like creatures as its inhabitants) is probably inspired by the ancient greek play "The Birds". In the play, the birds create a city in the sky (in which they live in) in order to control the communication between humans and gods. I love how much thought Nintendo puts behind some of its games.They don't HAVE to have these references but they have them anyway
