When I am very rich,I will order a Transrapid maglev from Siemens and Thyssen Krupp and display it in my house complete with track to my private airport in my private yard stretching 100km down.
The Transrapid allows to run high speed in closer curves and higher gradiens - able to be built next to the highways.
Even if it costs too much energy when running 400 km/h, it connects citys in a short time too when running 350 km/h. Its acceleration allows intermediate stops without loosing too much time as regular trains do.
Now the Transrapid costs three times as much as an ICE, but it is not built in series. When built in series, it probably is much cheaper than today.
Well, I do not know how fast you drive on the Autobahn but it's certainly less than the suggested 430 km/h the Maglev is commuting with.
On top of that, the CHinese did never steal the technology, since German enterprises such as ThyssenKrupp and Siemens provided the Chinese with components and even aided them when it came to putting up the track.
The role of this amazing Technology in Germany is very sad. This Train is created to connect big cities directly and non-stop. Instead of building a track between Berlin, Leipzig and Munich they are debating about a 37 km connectiton in a single city (Munich). It's a pitty.
the theck that will replace airplanes is found first in a airport, ironic ,no?!

It is NOT environmental friendly as it harms people 's health due to magnetic levitation waves!

Probably the transrapid is the optimal technology for German intercity connections, too, able to replace the air connections.

Technology stolen from Germany. Two chinese "engineers" got caught while recording the transrapid control room in Germany.

no wonder, Japan and China steal ideas, they are only copy nations.

I agree, this technology is a major step forward in terms of mass transit, environment, and urbanism.
The only "flaw" is that it is unefficient for "short" journeys ( under 8 km or so) Is that correct?

I like very much Transrapid! It's fast, clean and quite then any other train in the world. German technologies are great!
