iranian is not only named to the peopel who live in Iran.., Iranian/Iranic is also a term used for classification of a group of people who speak related langauges, and pashtun is an eastern iranian language, related to ossetian, yaghnoobi and some other iranian languages. Fact is that The Tajik, Uzbek and other came to Afghanistan through 3 wave as refugees, first when the Czar imperialist invaded thier land in the 1500's. 2nd when the Cossack tried to forced Orthodox Christinity on them in the 1700-1800's. 3rd when the Communist imposed atheism on them in the 1900's...Tajik are not natives of Afghanistan. Afghan rulers allowed them to settle in the North.
