Of course The Beatles were the greatest band of all time and comparing them to anyone else (even Oasis) is something that not even Noel or Liam would do! Radiohead to a lesser extent; see Kid A, Amnesiac & Pablo Honey which were flawed albums and while I rate them as one of the best bands in the world, I wouldn't say they are a superior band to Oasis. In my opinion.

Loads of people have had zenith albums; they come from the time where there is the most passion, desperation and excitement about making music from the band. Some bands have a few of these peaks but most just have one album.

Oasis have certainly "achieved this multi peak success". They have created 2 amazing albums(DM & WTSMG), 3 great albums (Masterplan, DBTT & DOYS) I think.

Subjective, maybe, but the mere fact that you think Be Here Now and SOTSOG are great tells me something. Each had their moments, but DM and MG are heads and shoulders above anything any British band has done since. Just as Noel says.

truth is mate, ive heard them a few times and never been attracted.
musically i like "clean" sounds and "melody" and "power", and that album from the few times ive listened was not so melodic and not clean at all apart from live forever.
i sold it for a £5 worth of petrol lol
songs that do it for me are gas panic, fuckin in bushes types, dark, powerful, choir/string, clean but with umph u know? like a linkin park track. and those 2 are about as opposite as the sound on definitely maybe init?

ye i see. whereas i prefer a rough, raw, anthem sound, which is why i like DM. but the melodies on definitely maybe are hidden quite a lot in the rough mixing. they progressed from that in WTS(MG)? when the sound was less rough but still raw, you know what i mean? then they put out BHN which for some reason didn't appeal to people, even though i love it for all its coked up glory. ;)
as for linkin park, i can't stand them :p

Of course The Beatles were the greatest band of all time and comparing them to anyone else (even Oasis) is something that not even Noel or Liam would do! Radiohead to a lesser extent; see Kid A, Amnesiac & Pablo Honey which were flawed albums and while I rate them as one of the best bands in the world, I wouldn't say they are a superior band to Oasis. In my opinion.

I really don't agree with that comment "we are victims of our own brilliance". Loads of people have had zenith albums; they come from the time where there is the most passion, desperation and excitement about making music from the band. Some bands have a few of these peaks but most just have one album.
For me The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Radiohead, Ozric Tentacles, Mr. Bungle and a few others have achieved this multi peak success.

Oasis have certainly "achieved this multi peak success". They have created 2 amazing albums(DM & WTSMG), 3 great albums (Masterplan, DBTT & DOYS) I think.
Whoever Jethro Tull, Ozric Tentacles, Mr. Bungle are I honestly don't know, and I'd be surprised if they genuinely have achieved the success and brilliance of Oasis across several albums.

I like Muse, I hold their music very close to my heart, but come on, we're talking about DEFINITELY MAYBE here, the biggest british rock'n'roll album in the last 20 years, not only it came with great songs, but it reinvented and brought back the sound of rock'n'roll when the entire genre was slowly dying.
