  • I like the escape more than the new explorer, unfortunatly the escape has a new look in 2013 more like the explorer.

  • Okay if this truck sells soo great where is it being sold?? I live in Columbus,Ohio and I think ive seen ONE... All I see are Honda CRVs, Toyota RAV-4's and Chevy Equinox's

  • @carmencolumbusohio There are a ton of them in NC where I live

  • Not a ford fan at all but I LOVE the escape... best driving ford availible

  • @jet62095 same here but i like the ford edge and escape

  • the 2008-present Ford Escape is assembled in

    Claycomo, Missouri, United States

  • Ford Escape 2011 has answered many demands of Escape owners. It's the closest Ford has to match the 4 x 4 archetype. Facebook/CarReviews is currently running a level-headed take.

  • 2005 Ford Escape's sudden engine failure due to faulty factory installed spark plugs. Not a safety issue says Ford.

Search for 2005 Ford escape problems before you drive it.

With a $2,600 average repair cost. I am now waiting for the PCM Ford has had on backorder for 6 years. Goes to show how big the problem is.

I feel the chances of finding Osama Bin Laden's body might be better. They can't even tell me how long it could take.

Thanks for the 3,000 lb paperweight that I can't drive now FORD.

  • i have a ford escape check out my video...this is what you can do will all that space - youtube.com/watch?v=upUxi_pFCSg

  • My brother drove a Ford Escape. I had the opportunity to test drive his car and it felt amazing. The Duratec Engine felt powerful and strong. Ride Control and Handling was as expected from Ford Motor Company.

  • for those ppl who own what what you u rate it for a road trip like a 8 hour road trip because my family is looking to rent 1 sence all we have is gas guzzlers and 2 door coups

  • @454streetracer SPEAK ENGLISH!

  • @Hayaishin lol sorry my computer likes to put spell check on and make double of just about everything

  • @454streetracer ok well I don't own a ford escape but I own a Honda Element and it is the best utility vehicle I have ever stepped in and proud to own. The style is kinda weird but it is like that for a reason. I also drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 but it was meh to me. Not saying don't buy the escape because it is a good car but for road trips I would personally go with The Element.

  • @Hayaishin i hate element sorry lol it just im 6,5 and my co workers has 1.....lets just say i dont fit very well in them well at least the back seat and im not buy an escape im looking to rent 1 or some thing like it, for a 8 to 10 hour road trip and back with 3 ppl and 2 large dogs but i cant afford to rent a full sized suv

  • @454streetracer Well you would fit in the front seats well. I am 6,1 and it I have plenty of space without hitting my head. But if you don't like it thats fine I don't blame you. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me and I love it. For a road trip I suggest something more comfortable to rent like a lexus suv or something if you can afford it.

  • @Hayaishin rather get an escape

  • @9876543219341 why not?

  • @9876543219341 lol it's made in Canada there are no domestics they are made with parts from China Korea and Japan

  • I'm gonna miss this version of the Escape. This one I thought was great overall. It was roomy, comfortable, had lots of space for things, & got great gas mileage. Most importantly, it looks tough & badass.

Now the next generation...I'm gonna hate that car soooo much

  • i just bought a 2008 escape limited 2 weeks ago - love it! had a bit of a shock going from my v8 2002 explorer to the v6 escape, but the gas milage is already much better, so it's a fair trade off. look forward to having this small suv for a long time

  • I own a hand-me-down 06 Escape. Very nice solid car, good mpgs (good for a poor college kid like me), and gets me through the tough winters where I live safely and confidently. I agree they are underpowered, going up hills is like "c'mon! lets go mr Escape!" some times. But overall great car! I love the new look to em, looks a lot tougher haha.

  • I just spent the last week comparing many vehicles in the class and the best of all by a long shot was the Volkswagen Tiguan.

  • I'd get an Escape over all those german and japanese, korean models any day!

  • These are such great SUV's, I know I love mine, can't believe what ford is doing with it for the 3rf generation though :(

  • Anyone take a look at the 2012 Ford Escape. I read it is going to be a mix of the Ford Kuga in Europe and the Escape.

  • This is an old review. The new Ford Escape 2011 is more than this model, it looks similar, but the new 2.5 4cyl engine with 171 HP and 171 lb-ft of torque is more than enough to move this car with decent performance. It has more features and it is more bang for the buck than before.

I am really considering this car. I have nothing against the CRV or Tucson 2011 (both great crossovers for city and highway driving), but the Escape can do more and it is more capable off road than those 2 models.

  • In the process of trading in my 2010 Ford Mustang V6 Coupe (that I've had no issues with) for a 2010 Ford Escape Limited. After reading many reviews, it seems the main issue is the transmission and poor acceleration. The acceleration issue I don't mind that much and can't be complained about because the engine power is advertised. On the other hand I hope the transmission isn't issue on some cars doesn't represent the model as a whole. I look forward to owning my second ford vehicle.

  • Google carcomplaints before you consider buying this vehicle and see what previous owners have said. Apparently the transmissions are bad just like the windstar....

  • i drive one.. 2011 XLT with Performance package.. :)

  • ooo ford..

  • I own 2 Ford Escapes. A 2001 model XLT 4X4 w/ 134,500 miles on it and has just regular maintance work. It gets 17 mpg city and 22 mpg hwy thats w/ 200 hp V6.

    A 2009 Model has a 4cyl with 171 horsepower gets 25 mpg city and 31 mpg hwy.

  • GREAT BANG FOR BUCK/ you;ll get more than what you paid for.

  • even bit older models look great, much better then gay looking CRV or RAV4

  • The reason why "more" cars don't have the password thing is because Ford patented that technology

  • I recently bought a 2010 Limited FWD with the 3.0 V6 and 6-pd Automatic. It has 240 HP now and in stop-go city driving, I get 19.5 mpg, haven't been on the interstate for long. I love the ride and styling, the SYNC system is amazing, I have my MP3 and Blackberry synced with it and just get in with my phone. For normal driving, the drum brakes, in the back, are fine. The ride is very smooth - very happy with this vehicle, makes the Govt. Motors Equinox look very sad.

  • I like it

  • @kbb (or any long time users of escape models)

would you guys still recommend the 2011 xtl V6 version? I'm concerned more about reliability then any other aspects which I feel well pleased about...

    thanks and peace to you

  • this will be my first car! watch out... im gonna make things happen :))

  • @pikachuzzz123 mee too,,well i have a white pontiac,, but its not comfortable for me so i soooo want this suv!!! :))) im already imagining myself driving it:)

  • Deciding on first car. 2009 Ford Escape or 2009 Dodge Journey 4cyl. Have 3 other sisters and also need room for hockey bags. Same price for both. Help please.

  • Nice but the 2011 mitsubishi outlander sport gets better fuel economy 23/31

  • Well, this review is kind of out of date....the new Escape 2010 has new engine and more technology....Now is better... 171HP 2.5ltrs engine 4 cyl. , it is good enough for me.

  • we are using escape for drivers ed. and i am so obsessed with this car that i want this car as my first car.

  • Great car, bright interior looks amazing as well.

  • The Southeast Asian version looks very ugly compared to this North American version

  • I wish this new escape had a selectable 4wd mode with low range. They had them on the old one and these new ones are all computer controlled now, and who knows how god that system is. If the new escape had a selectable 4wd with low range it would have been the ultimate small suv. If I could get a small offroader I would get a new Suzuki Grand Vitara because it has high and low 4wd that you can select.

  • We crashed our old car a few days ago, and got one of these as a rental car. I can't believe an XLT like we is $26,000 new. It is very cheaply built and is very hard to get used to. It handles like a piece of furniture. The only nice feature I like is the satellite radio. The "textured plastics" inside feel terribly cheap. It is also small, and I don't recommend it to any family with more than 2 people.

  • Try the Honda crv

  • My mom got me one of these as an early graduation present since my other car is about ready to fall apart. I'm excited, I get to go pick it up tomorrow. I think my favorite features are the sync system and key pad.

  • @387spiral Tell us how it was :D

  • What I don't like about the Escape and its siblings is that they don't have center arm rest at the back seat.

  • sold 1 millions copies???

    ...

    like a music album?...

  • im getting one yaaahhhh

  • Lots of good things to say about the EScape but watch out for some pifalls.

My partner took her 2008 Escape in to have the rear latch checked out and they advised her it was shot(the motor) and she would have to pay over $300.00 to fix. Her Ford is only 2 years old and the latch release motor is rarely used. She's fighting the charge!!!

  • smh.....good luck to her

  • they changed the engines.. this guy doesnt know what hes talking about

  • @ichtotesie do you think it has enough get up and go for a pretty mild driver? what about with a car full of people? especially highway.. wife is checkin these out

  • @texashawgss definitely man. I own one, and my mom owns one. These cars are great on AND off road. They get the job done whether your moving cargo or moving people! Escapes are very nimble as well so its easy to have some fun

  • where is the number plate?

  • I just ordered a Limited AWD with the 4 cyl. engine which is 171 hp. I think the acceleration is more than adequate. I also drove the new Tuscon and CRV. Both are also very nice but more car like. The Escape is more truck like with a smooth ride.

  • the malaysian version of the new escape is terrible looking, wish we get the american truck...

  • SABIAN QUE AUN NO HABLO INGLES?

  • I wouldn't say that Honda sucks. I've had a few Hondas that are very reliable.

  • just dont get a 2002, transmission is almost garunteed to go out.

  • @tremer88 Are there any other years to avoid? I'm considering buying a used one.

  • @gilliangirl1 any one thats not a 2002, the newer they are the better though

  • its not about what model the vehicle is.. its about the idiot that drove it before and didn't take care of it

  • brilliant comment!

  • go go Escape

  • I just bought one in sangria red. Its a great suv! Good gas mileage, and great looks.

  • Hi, how's it holding up? I'm getting one to replace my beat up Sable.

  • Its great. Im averaging about 25 mpg and that is with warming it up every morning. Handles great in snow being a 4x2. I love everything about it really. I have the four cylinder, but still has plenty of power for every day city/highway commute.

  • I like this SUV , a great value of its kind.

  • strong comp from hond and toyota thats funny toyota and honda sucks ford owns

  • how many people does it fit?

  • I'm 50-50 between the Ford Escape and a Jeep Compass(Either Rallye or Standard package)

  • Go escape

  • go with the ford for normal use but for offroad go with the compass

  • I really like the design of the Escape!

  • yeah, so do i..

  • ***Cruise Control is no longer an option; it comes standard on all 2009 and 2010 Escapes.

  • I'm not really fimiliar with ford but comparison to Rav4 in terms of reliability which one is better ?

  • @moamin1989

Toyota is well know for their reliability, but just recently, Ford surpassed Toyota in reliability in tests.

You won't go wrong with either vehicles. Both are great SUV/Crossovers.

  • Thank you very much 4 ur info :)!!

  • escape is nothing compare 2 Rav4 and CR-V! no offense!

  • i agree with stalliongolf1, bad alternators, had to change mine after about 25,000 miles, but it was still under warranty though

  • my grandpa just bought the ford escape

  • GILOU GILOU GILOU

What an amazing car! Far far better than the Mitsubitch Pajero shit, isn't it?

  • I wish they had one on the 2010 model.

  • their aren't many major differences between the 2008 and 2010 models. the Escape has remained mostly the same mechanically and prosthecially since 2007.

  • Good to hear. I have been constantly impressed by this car.

  • 2009 and later models have six speed autos and 40 more horse

  • dude the engines got more horespower

  • Comment removed

  • Bad Alternators on this model, will break down around 50,000 -70,000 miles, Cost about 600 - 800 to replace alternator right front axle has to be removed to replace it.

  • I just test drove both the Escape and a RAV 4 and I found the Escape to outclass the RAV easily. Escape was quiter, quicker, more roomy and more features for less money.

  • @regnillif Toyota is outclassed in almost every segment now....I think the only segment where they are still a good option is in Off-Roaders like the 4Runner, but beside that, the whole line up from Toyota can be overclassed by many other cars....Toyota is not longer what they used to be back in the 90s. Unfortunately, they are now nothing more than an overpriced cheap brand basing their prices on a fame that is not longer a reality.

  • no wonder why their doing bad they don't work on engineering, they just changed the esxxterior and hope to sell without work.

  • I'm 6'6 Tall and I don't fit it the Escape so I got a Honda ELEMENT and I love it.

  • this review is for 2008, the 2009 has upgraded power and a 6-speed transmission. The new V6 has great power and acceleration

  • doing a 5.0 swap in my 2007

  • I drive the New 2009 Escape XLT 2.4L, with the audiophile sound system, leather and i think its amazing. the gas mileage is very nice i think for a Small SUV, i perf. to drive this cause the size and drive style is just so nice. very smooth ride nice audio system and just a good all around looking car. but when it comes down to it, good gas, space and driveability year round is a win all around i would say, wouldnt you?

  • I completely agree with you, Famed. :3

I myself was taken for a ride in a 2009 CR-V, and even though it was a smooth ride, I found the 2009 Escape to be batter and much more comfortable for me as the driver. And I'm gonna be the one spending the most time in my own car. xD

  • Got a 2007 Escape and I'm very satisfied. A FUN little truck to drive, its build solid and very reliable.

  • what year is this car?

  • 2010

  • I have the 2008 Xlt with almost every option. It sucks pretty bad. I'm sure with the new engine it would be better. It's the wifes car so it's good for a female vehicle i guess

  • What are they talking about? This is a VERY nice suv...and, it looks good! I'd bet, if this suv had the same drivetrain with, only a foreign name tag..., this would be a completely different review! Smh..

  • Ford only made this Escape better when they shoved the updated 3.0L (240HP) into the Escape for the 2009 year.

  • I would love to have one of these as my first car!

  • @xwishuweremex I'm 17 and my parents bought it for me it fits my fishing poles fine and it has good pick up.

  • good thing it got more power!
