3 thinigs, 1 i thought the squid was going to be into the movie and that they were going to explain it more, because in a clip for the Watchmen movie you see a young psychic boy throw a knife with his mind and in the graphic novel Veidt says thanks to the brain of a Psychic the squid was born, and 2 I heard that since the squid isnt in the film that Dr. Manhattten will be blamed for the nuclear explosions around the world and 3 if thier is no impending alien attack how will there be peace?!!

The fact that the squid isn't there doesn't bother me. They MIGHT have it on the DVD as like a bonus feature. I do like the squid though, only because yeah it's basically random.

But I'm actually worried that they might change like the whole ending, like I heard rumors that they might have it like the Dark Knight ending but with Cr. Manhattan. I just hope that they really don't do anything dumb with the ending because an ending can make or break a movie.

Also, you mentioned it was random? I also found this a bit odd, as the whole point of the novel, the whole reasoning behind ozy's maniacal actions was that if the world believes there is an alien invasion occurring, the cold war will become yesterday's news, thus securing temporary world peace. Not random :)

Squid needs to be in. I can understand why they took it out, but it kind of takes away one of most important aspects of the plot. Yes, it is random. That's the point! It's supposed to underscore the that the whole world of the Watchmen would be ludicrous to live in.

The "random" nature of the quid is the entire point. The "What-the-hell?" reaction is the point. It's intentionally weird, surreal, and outlandish. That's the point of it.

The squid wasn't random at all. There were so many clues leading up to it's reveal: The author disappearing, the boat blowing up, The Comedian going crazy in front of Jacobi, and lets not forget the scientists on the island. The painter was drawing the squid. However, the squid wasn't totally necessary to the plot. As long as Veidt killed millions of people in order to end the war, the story was told properly.

I've read watchmen and i was disappointed when i first herd rumors of an alternate ending. Then seeing the trailer made me think that it was true. But, then reading a article from geeks of doom i thought maybe there was still hope for the creature. I understand why they cut. It was to make it more audience friendly. This disappointed me because I felt let down. After all that attention to the detail of the comic and then to leave out a major part of it seems to be a bit of a contradiction.

I having read the graphic novel kind of feel a little angry about the squid being cut. It's a major part in the fact that that was one of Oxymandios' plots to restart the world. What would they replace it with? Because throughout the novel they show blueprints of the squid and other hints. I don't get what they are going to do. I'm only 14, so I can't see it in theatres. So once the DVD comes out, I'll have to check it out.
