Platypuses are venomous, you shouldn't handle them. their rear feet have sharp spurs full of venom. One guy I saw on tv tried to pick one up and it spured him and he lost partial control in one of his hands. Don't muck with em.

yeah, their claw on their hind-legs are connected to a poison gland that contains strong venom.. they did kill other animals like cats and dogs using that venemous claw.. but isnt really lethal to humans.. but does cause severe pain and would end up in hospital.. it causes bleeding and burning in seconds with very severe pain.. so yeah

I can see why people would try to pick them up though. They do look cute and cudly, its almost like bait for people who don't know any better. Im sure the hands in the video are of a professional. I would still be wearing protective gloves at least. The ones they use for raptor birds and aboreal lizards.

yeah, they use protective gloves to hold 'em, because ones that claw digs into you.. then its gonna cause very severe pain, you wont die but you will end up in hospital.. but other animals die of it

Only the males have this spur, and the poison isn't life threatening, it will make you feel very ill and the effected body part will suffer a lot of pain.
The females are harmless.
