The Return Of The Living Dead series should have tried to be more like an anthology series that would take the concept of unkillable zombies in a different direction for each film. This film was assentially a romantic tragedy with zombies and it ended up being one of the most acclaimed installments in the franchise. But no, Sci-Fi just had to buy the rights to it and try to make it funny again, rather than embrace the new possibilities that this film opened for them.

Does not work. Chop 'em up and burn them is what they do with a few zombies in the first movie and it starts the fucking apocalypse. Because the ashes rain down, "infecting" more corpses. With these zombies that's one of the worst things you can do.

they're not sequels however they are related in a way, the reason they got away with a title is because a major role in this movie being developed was John Russo who was actually the co-writer of night of the living dead, after the granddaddy of zombie movies released Russo and Romero had differences where to take, we know where romero went with it, and here is Russo taking a diff approach, as far as court romero agreed w the dead, and russo took the living dead

The Return of the Living Dead was made in 1985 and is the first of 3 "Return of the Living Dead" movies. It was a completely new series, not a sequel to anything.

I think you are a bit confused and under the impression the "Return of the Living Dead" is somehow linked to Romero's "Of the Dead"-series (of which the first, Night of the Living Dead, was indeed made in the 60s). The latter inspired the first, but other than that, they are unrelated, it's not a sequel.

The title is confusing I suppose (Return of the Living Dead does sound like a title of a sequel you would make to Night of the Living Dead), in fact Romero even started a trial on this.

But again, Return of the Living Dead is not continues to Night of the Living Dead. The zombies are also different etc. You are not the first one to make this mistake, I had been confused about this for years until a friend of mine told it and I looked it up.
