@Cholo5730 I don't really like that utility, it's way too complicated just to perform basic tasks, and is very archaic. I recommend Fbackup 4 it is simple, works VERY WELL and it's free.
what can i do if im running windows vista home premium on a dell studio with the disk drive that desnt slide out? its the one you just insert the disk and it doesnt work. what can i press? or should i just download the reinstallation from utorrent and put the file on a usb and boot from there? and how can i back up my drivers if my computer doesnt start up?
I have problem mine is a dell inspiron 1545 to reset this I gotta get to Advanced boot options n once I get there gotta find Repair my Computer!! But this is my problem I don't have this option!!!!
@unknownfish1 It's great right? I'm still using mine right now, but it's time for a replacement. This will probably find a second life as my home server. I must say, these things are TANKS; they survived my usage for the last 5 years, LOL.
@MARooNSUPRaMK3 Is the software still in "factory condition"? Meaning it still has factory installed software [NetMeeting, Dell Support, Quickset, etc.]; if not then that would usually mean the OS was reinstalled, and typically would not have the restore partition on it anymore.
@Geno11116 Unfortunately I have no idea of how I can access the files, and I have since installed a new harddrive so I no longer even have Dell Restore.
@IRedneckHD You mean button? Lol. Yeah I get what you're saying though, but hey, still would work for those who still have Dell systems-running XP [like me, too lazy/broke to upgrade to 7].
okay so like i have a mini laptop. its one of those notebook computers. it doesnt have a CD drive so i cant use any CD.but then i went to dell's website and it said not everyone needs a CD to do a factory restore. so i backed up all my data.and when i got to the step where it says press Ctrl and F11,nothing happened.so then i looked that up and now everyones telling me to use the CD and its p*ssing me off cause i dont have a CD drive.do you know anything about that? itll be great if you can help
@alexxlovszim What model is it exactly? If for the most part, they perhaps have changed the button-configuration to access factory restore. If I cannot find the info necessary for a button-method, then you would have to buy an external disc drive (they're inexpensive, at around 20 bucks), insert the disc into there and enter your BIOS and have it boot off of "USB device" or similar.
Hi i have a dell dimension 3000 and i want to reset it cause it has like a massive virus on it and wont let me use the internet. so i did this and i got to the "dell pc restore by symantec" screen where it says "restore system" and "rebbot your computer" but it will not let me select the restore button(i have tryed clicking, turning off and on,pressing enter). can you help me?
How can I know that my laptop (Dell 6400) has a dell restore system? If it does have a dell restore, do i need the internet at the time I am restoring my laptop? thanks.
Hi, great video. I've got a Dell Inspiron Mini, which is running really slow, so I thought I'd restore it to the factory settings, anyway, I hit Control F11 and it just makes a loud beeping noise but then just carried on booting up.. Any ideas 'oh wise one'?
thanks for the help my computer got a virus earlier from a download on my comp cause my sister download limewire like an a$s so thank i couldnt figure it out
hey man, what laptop do you have? i reset my inspiron 1525 from the menu and it just loaded and was brand new, my mums has a big virus problem that i cannot get rid of, i backed up her files weeks ago and just wondering to do this or a factory settings thing, she has a dell isnpiron 6400, i saw when your pc came back on you had a lot of desktop items, it does remove everything dosent it? thanks in advance
@rugbylover95 I have an E1705, which is essentially the same as a 6400 but just with a larger screen. Yes, it does remove EVERYTHING, and it returns it to the way it was right when you take it out of the box.
@banstaman thanks, when it asks you about the internet and you click no, when i log back on i will still have the abillity to connect it to the internet? and i saw another video before where i just go to safe mode, repair my machine then resotre factory image, which one is better? thaks!
@rugbylover95 It's just asking if you would like to chose in internet service provider. Your connections will still work. As for going into safe mode and then choosing factory image restore, I believe that's for Windows Vista.
when i open my dell inspiron n5010 laptop, it shows dell screen and after that only black screen appear.... i can't move from there onwards... wat shpuld i do to retian my original settings? and also i can't even to dell data safe online backup???? can u suggest me wat to do??
@YungSamTV You can't. The point is to wipe all data, and make the system perform as it were new. You should be backing up your data in the first place.
@banstaman u have to back up all of the things u want to keep or u will loose all of ur stuff that is the only way to restore ur computer or u can do a system recovery that is restoring ur computer to a early point in time

@TheProudLight You only need it if you can't activate the restore function from your keyboard. If you reformat the disk however, you will have to reinstall fresh, and install all drivers. Try to restore from your keyboard first, if attempts fail, then use the disk.

Now I encrypted songs in the last setup I had and I put the songs in an external memory so now I can't play my 2000 songs anymore. They are write-protected now still. Any ideas for this problem?
Hey, I just wanted to tell you thank you so much for your video. I was able to do a F11 system restore........your video made my life so much easier. Thank you! Rob
hey man , need some help.... i followed your instruction and restored my computer ( finally !) but only to find out it has been restored to XP media center SP2 where it had been runnin SP3... anyway to correct this ? thanks.
i have tried to restore my dell computer but it was not sucessful and now i cannot start the windows,it says that the drive is not working, what can i do now?i am downloading the dell recovery cd and try if it works or what should i do? i have call the dell support and they tell me i should buy a cd but i forgot what it was maybe it was this recovery cd not sure but i have to wait until tomorrow, should i try that one that i am downloading now?
I suppose there is a harddrive error. If Windows has failed, I'm not sure what else there is to do. If the data you have on the drive is negligible, then try the disc. Did you download it for your specific model? Where did you download the recovery image from?
hey man i have windows vista and i reinstalled my operating system because of a blue screen and here is my question before i got the blue screen and installed windows again i had system image restore and then now i dont have it and when i looked up on my recovery drive it says i have the recovery program .
What that sounds like, is it tinkered with the hidden partition and probably corrupted the files. Sorry to say, but I do not believe it's possible for it to be used.
If you installed via Wubi, double click the icon on your desktop and it should ask you to delete. If you have it installed via disk, then in Windows right click "My Computer" and then click "Manage" double click "storage" and "disk management (local)", find your Ubuntu partition and delete it. Backup your data first.
I have done this now and extended my volume to fill in that free space. One more thing i am worried about is I have norton internet security. will this be removed from my computer if i preform a Dell Restore?
Not necessarily, if you have the product key, and installer, just copy those and reinstall it yourself. Contacting the company gives no luck, ESPECIALLY Norton.
trust the computerr when it says do not let the computer shut off while you r doing the system restore i accidently did that and it wiped my operateing system alot of headaches and took me five hours of work and a couple days of headaches to repai
I feel your pain. While I didn't shut off my computer during the process, I did install Acronis True Image, and the Secure Zone feature did mess with the restore image, so I reformatted, and had to search for drivers OVER AND OVER. It was pain. Well I did learn one thing, when I was done, I turned that into a restore image, so I didn't have to search again, and I install Windows on C: while personal files go on another encrypted partition. That method is bulletproof.
Hiya. I bought my Dell pc in 2004. I don't know much about PC :S As i am playing online game and it gets so laggy ingame. I am thinking to reinstall windows XP. Since i watched your video. I am just wondering if i should do System Restore instead? Do you think my ingame laggy issue will sort if i restore the system? I really appreciate if you can help me here. Thanks in advance
Hi I'm on the point of doing a factory restore on my dell desktop. I'm using a wireless keyboard, I don't have my original keyboard anymore. How do I install the drivers to be able to do the 'hit any key? Also will my broadband work without a disk?
The drivers of the wireless keyboard and mouse are later additions and have a cd to install. I have the original mouse but not the keyboard. If no drivers are installed when I reinstall the keyboard won't work. Sorry if I didn't explain myself, Im just nervous of a cockup.
You don't need the drivers for the keyboard or mouse, as they are recognized as primary input devices which are needed for the computer to start, well at least the keyboard is. You're good to go!
Thanks for giving me the courage. My 5year old computer is like new, oh the joy of booting up within minutes rather than the 3/4 of an hour it needed. Seriously folks, it took only 15 minutes. The keyboard works but I had to use my old dell mouse. I've since reinstalled avg and I'm now working through the microsoft updates. Please people it's really easy. Thanks for your help.
ive recently had a technition replace my hard drive and my recovery disk from "my computer has gone" and also my "OS" disk. But there is a new disk called Local Disk. i want to restore back to factory settings in hope i get my OS and recovery back. Also when i press start and go to the search, just below all programs it says searh has faild to initlize any help with all my problems. thanks . plz reply or pm me
I do not believe you have any access to that. It only works with the factory installed hard-drive. Even there Dell has made it so you cannot copy the partition (legality issues?) . From there on you have to reformat Windows entirely. If I were you, reformat, install all of the drivers, and buy something like Acronis TrueImage or Norton Ghost, and create a backup image as soon as the proper drivers are installed, and save it to it's own partition, and back that up to a rescue media...
... Be it a CD, DVD, flash drive, external hard-drive etc. This way it will be your own Factory restore. It's the same with me when I upgraded to a larger hard-drive. That method works just as well.
ok so i have a dell inspiron e1705...do i need to uninstall webroot spysweeper before i reboot? i have the disc...but i pay for the extensions of the program online and i believe it runs out around december. I also have trend micro pc cillin
Thanks :)

i have tried to restore my dell computer but it was not sucessful and now i cannot start the windows,it says that the drive is not working, what can i do now?i am downloading the dell recovery cd and try if it works or what should i do? i have call the dell support and they tell me i should buy a cd but i forgot what it was maybe it was this recovery cd not sure but i have to wait until tomorrow, should i try that one that i am downloading now?
laceytam 1 year ago
I suppose there is a harddrive error. If Windows has failed, I'm not sure what else there is to do. If the data you have on the drive is negligible, then try the disc. Did you download it for your specific model? Where did you download the recovery image from?
banstaman 1 year ago
@laceytam
i download it from the one on the youtube link

shorty5352 2 years ago
What that sounds like, is it tinkered with the hidden partition and probably corrupted the files. Sorry to say, but I do not believe it's possible for it to be used.

how would i go about deleting my ubuntu i have partition on my hard drive before doing the system restore?
06jblair 2 years ago
If you installed via Wubi, double click the icon on your desktop and it should ask you to delete. If you have it installed via disk, then in Windows right click "My Computer" and then click "Manage" double click "storage" and "disk management (local)", find your Ubuntu partition and delete it. Backup your data first.

I have done this now and extended my volume to fill in that free space. One more thing i am worried about is I have norton internet security. will this be removed from my computer if i preform a Dell Restore?
06jblair 2 years ago
Yes.
banstaman 2 years ago
would i have to contact norton to get it back
06jblair 2 years ago
Not necessarily, if you have the product key, and installer, just copy those and reinstall it yourself. Contacting the company gives no luck, ESPECIALLY Norton.
banstaman 2 years ago
ok just making sure
because i have already extended my norton to two other computers and im out of those
06jblair 2 years ago
trust the computerr when it says do not let the computer shut off while you r doing the system restore i accidently did that and it wiped my operateing system alot of headaches and took me five hours of work and a couple days of headaches to repai

That method is bulletproof.

does it work on vista? that ctrl and f11

Not exactly, I believe it's F8 or whatever brings you to the Windows Recover/Repair Console.

Thanks in advance
sleepingbeauty0000 2 years ago
Not sure if it calls for a restore of any type. Seems more as a resource problem. Get more memory, or free up some.

Hi I'm on the point of doing a factory restore on my dell desktop. I'm using a wireless keyboard, I don't have my original keyboard anymore. How do I install the drivers to be able to do the 'hit any key? Also will my broadband work without a disk?
yellowlabrador 2 years ago
I'm not so sure I understand the issue with "hit any key". Your broadband should work, as it houses all the appropriate drivers.
banstaman 2 years ago
The drivers of the wireless keyboard and mouse are later additions and have a cd to install. I have the original mouse but not the keyboard. If no drivers are installed when I reinstall the keyboard won't work. Sorry if I didn't explain myself, Im just nervous of a cockup.
yellowlabrador 2 years ago
You don't need the drivers for the keyboard or mouse, as they are recognized as primary input devices which are needed for the computer to start, well at least the keyboard is. You're good to go!

Thanks for giving me the courage. My 5year old computer is like new, oh the joy of booting up within minutes rather than the 3/4 of an hour it needed. Seriously folks, it took only 15 minutes. The keyboard works but I had to use my old dell mouse. I've since reinstalled avg and I'm now working through the microsoft updates. Please people it's really easy. Thanks for your help.

I do not believe you have any access to that. It only works with the factory installed hard-drive. Even there Dell has made it so you cannot copy the partition (legality issues?) . From there on you have to reformat Windows entirely. If I were you, reformat, install all of the drivers, and buy something like Acronis TrueImage or Norton Ghost, and create a backup image as soon as the proper drivers are installed, and save it to it's own partition, and back that up to a rescue media...
banstaman 2 years ago
... Be it a CD, DVD, flash drive, external hard-drive etc. This way it will be your own Factory restore. It's the same with me when I upgraded to a larger hard-drive. That method works just as well.
banstaman 2 years ago
thanks but how do i reformst windows entirely ?
thanks for ur time
ads3195 2 years ago
You take the Windows install disc, and boot off of it then delete your partition(s) and re-install Windows.
banstaman 2 years ago
Will the software and drivers be free? Or will you have to pay?
kiljoy2ecr 2 years ago
If you're under warranty it will be free.

Hi, I hit the f8 and I get the 'repair computer' but it doesn't take me to the restore image options, any help is appreciated
Petite09 2 years ago
It doesn't show any option to restore? In Vista it should.
