The only mistake he made was arguing, and 'then' getting out of the vehicle. The first part was rough, probably excessive, but thereafter is pure madness. The officers probably thought their fellow officer was in a fight to the death or something, and they lost their minds.

It's interesting how many people still think this is uncommon and blown out of proportion, many incidents aren't reported for fear of police retaliation, especially in absolutely horrible places, like Oakland and Miami.

the initial officer ran out of gas around 3:30. he was just holding on to him till backup arrived. the other responding officers probably heard one of their guys was fighting with someone, and get there and see them both on the ground. it seems to me that mr Jenkins had plenty of opportunity to comply with the arrest, but continued to resist, By statue, officers are justified in using the force necessary to effect the arrest. Once he was cuffed, the officers force ceased. Nohting excessive here

Jenkins set the tone here, of course some of the back up cops over reacted, but it still comes down to Jenkins' behavior. He didn't comply with the Officer's directive, & then resisted the Officer; he was just digging the hole deeper for himself.

Most of the public, we keep it simple, we do what the officer directs on scene. If the officer behaves poorly, he's held accountable, but "we" (decent law abiding citizens) don't escalate the situation. Jenkins is simply a dumb ass.
