yeah they work! i work at a saw sharpening shop and a guy brought in a blade that got stopped. Surprisingly enough it was able to be salvaged by brazing 4 tips on it. The piece of aluminum needs to be replaced and the spring reset. i think he said it was around $100, plus the blade. and he had a piece of metal in the material he was cutting and that completed the circuit for him, not his finger :/
I think I heard that the inventor did about a 1000 tests, which they all worked, so he tried it on hit own finger = same result. I would pay for it, even if it meant a possible broken blade
Using electric sensing in the blade was brilliant. I suppose a laser could also work and would react even faster but it would have to be adjusted to the height of the material for each cut.
@Magneticdud Yeah. There's a sensor that sets off the module when a conductive object, such as your finger, gets too close to the blade. The whole thing happens in ~.001 second.

having this machine is very euh (bad english) contradicting.
like at first you have one, you would think, yay it's safe so there will be no risk of cut of fingers.
but then you wonder, does it really work? you cant test it... cause if it works it would break the machine....
so you just "hope" it works when it happens, you can never test it xD
roflroflomgomg 2 years ago
You dont have to test it with a finger. You can do what they did.
dodgydogman 2 years ago
no, once the machine stops with that break, it is broken.... rather that thing broken then your finger xD

How does it know? Neat system.
iroccamaro9 2 years ago 2
because it applies an electric current to the blade :D
