About all comments, that Škoda is just VW. So if this right, explain me why spain Seat (also owned by VW) produce 2,5 x time less cars than czech Skoda? They have same possibilities as Skoda. Explain me why country which have 5x time more peoples than Czech republic isn´t so sucesfull in car produce?

For me explication is easy. Czech republic have huge peoples capital (well technics ability) with 115 year long history with produce cars.

@gro082 Please dont take offence as I dont mean any. Skoda has a less established brand name than seat thus making it cheaper. VW owns 100% of skoda and therefore designs 100% of the car. VW does not own 100% of seat so there are certian things they cant control.

Skoda is also "The manufacturer of happy drivers" and more designed at everyone, seat is more aimed at a younger market. Another reason is people look at a skoda and see a vw people look at a seat and see a seat.

@jassumcelik I agree completely. some still see SKODA and the silly looking badge as a joke. If you drive one with DSG you will see how good they are and what value for money they give. Sales would boom if they were renamed VW as it is such a stronger brand name. People associate it with quality and performance. SKODA is struggling a bit because of the image of older cars before VW stepped in. The value of a SKODA also goes to between 25 and 35% after 3 years, a VW doesn't do that!!!!!

"fat butt genetic crossover" That´s how I regard ANY Octavia model design: "fat butt" for obvious reasons, and "genetic crossover" because I´m afraid that the Octavia designers have ALWAYS been so unoriginal to my view that, rather than designing a car of their own, they copied pieces form several cars (lights, radiator, rear lights, windows and so on) and put them altogether. This one for instance reminds me, seen its front, to some older Lexus, Audi, BMW or even a Mercedes.

Škoda is Czech and we have the biggest plants here... I live 20km away from the Mladá Boleslav plant, that's the home city of Škoda, it's like a little Wolfsburg. Škoda is manufactured all over the world just like VW. So is VW Chinese since they make cars there?

@jam4lifeus i used to own '03 Audi A4 and I drove '10 Skoda Octavia. Very similar. Skoda still has it's annoying interior material, but it has better design touch. Skoda improved much! I'm very impressed.

I just rented a new Octavia with 1.4 TSI engine and 7 shift DSG box. A very comfortable family cruiser, and also incredible fun in sport mode!! DSG is awesome in sport mode, really clever!

The color touch screen and media center worked very well, so user friendly! Nice sound and bass too.

The car has improved so much since my 2004 model.

Too narrow in the back for three children though.

@byggholtsuger SKODA used to be a joke, like LADA in the UK. Now after trying a turbo diesel I am very impressed with the Octavia. The DSG is excellent, I wish I had tried it before. The change is fast and smooth and the economy doesn't suffer. I agree SPORT mode is clever! The SKODA represents a lot of car for your money and people are going for sheer valur for money now. That's why Ford and Vauxhall are suffering, with a lot of franchises closing down due to loss of sales. SKODA=GREAT!

Currently Skoda sells the Octavia with the 1.6 TDI CR @ 105 hp, the 1.9 TDI PD also at 105 hp, and additionally the 2.0 TDI PD with 140 hp and the 2.0 TDI CR with 170 hp (RS only)

styling-wise the new octavia may have some BMW styling cues (in the saloon version) - like the glasshouse, but generally it follows its own path
