part 3, Sister was probably older and she noticed that car hit was not going to let them survive and when she woke up in the forest like his bro, she started digging the ground with her fingers, dig the ground full of worms and bugs to find out if she was buried after she died, She did not go to LIMBO place where they punish because she did not used drugs but also done a sin for lying parents and escaping. So in the end you see that they both are dead and you see flies up their bodies.
part 2 They decided to kill bro and sis, so they planned to hurt them down from treehouse by hitting the car hardly on the tree, Bro and sis noticed that some people were planning to do something bad so they fastly moved down but these kids hitted car while bro,sis were still crawling down... So they died, the boy got in LIMBO because he tried drugs and it was sin but not enough sin for hell. So then he starts to search for his sister as he does not knows that he is dead, About sister... All this peoples opinions gives me more and more thoughts... How about this... Family with 2 children "brother and sister" moved to new house which was close to forest, Brother and sister decided to escape and play in the forest, So they found a treehouse, They went up there and saw some pills like others say "Drugs"... My take.It is clear that they are both dead. You can see two bodies on main menu surrounded by flies, on the same spots where they stand at the end. Did they fall from a tree house or something like that? His crash through that window could be his realization that he is dead. Like waking up for example. Spider represents fear of death, he fights it in Limbo. I haven't figured out what other kids represent. Well in reality no one knows, only the creator, but that's how I saw it.

my belief is this: LIMBO means "land of the dead" a part of hell divided in 4 parts, in this case the 4th part "limbo of infants" the boy goes through this hell which is inhabited by other children who try to kill him (cause evil children go into hell) and at the end meets up with his sister in the afterlife. they were both infants living in a small house on a tree and died BOTH (of starvation, etc) because you can see TWO graves and flies at the end and the ladder is old and torn think people!
I think the girl isnt his sister, and she was somebody liek the boy in the limbo, she find a way through but at the end she couldnt find a way to pass the ladder.. So both died there

idk who died but i have the pc version and the boy's sister heard him and just the end i didnt see any flies or dead bodies... maybe theres difference on the consoles im happy i have it on PC so that they dont die
If the girl was in Limbo as well, wouldn't that justify a sequel? I mean, one where we get to see her progress through another set of her own unique, fatal trials? For those of you who are satisfied with this ending, the story doesn't need be expanded upon, as it'll essentially be the same story told through the eyes of a different person, with different obstacles. Then again, the reason this game was so unique was the surprise it offered at the end, which a sequel of this type wouldn't have.

The brother fell off their treehouse and died, going to hell's edge and needing to prove his value to be send to heaven, after all the game, the player has guided the boy's ghost close to his sister, who were burying him body, and after she realized his "presence". After felting his presence, the sister stayed there with him until she died and could be forever with him (explaining why the same treehouse were showed after years have passed)
After the boy fell to the ground in slow motion, i thought, he lost his memory and the game would carry on from the begining. Honestly, I would've finished it again
That's a good explanation and I'm going to give you a thumbs up, but I lol'd at her feeling his "presents". "Oh, what a odd shaped box this is, what's inside I wonder? Maybe the mutilated chunks of my dead brother?"
They both didn't die the boy did. He fell out of the tree house accidentally and died. He wakes up in limbo. He searches for his sister. When he gets to the end and he goes through the glass it means he got out of limbo and made it to the real world as a ghost. He sees his sister mourning for him. She stands up but doesn't look at him because she feels his presents.
@transalana I thought the same thing after reading a few articles. I then realized from looking at the scenery that they were no where near an ideal place to build a tree house. It's not a good idea to build a tree house for children in a 300ft tree, and there is not a single sign of a neighborhood around. NOTE THE POSITIONS of both children at the final scene and ignore the credits. Notice the title screen fade back in. Now there are shapeless blobs and clouds of flies hovering over instead.
@transalana While it is obvious that they are both dead (The evidence we have on the girl is that her position is also replaced with a shapeless figure on the ground with flies hovering over it like the boy's position in the title screen) by the title's name itself, it's not that easy to confirm HOW they died. I did find the boy crashing through glass and then ending up a position similar like the one he first wakes up in as a reference to someone flying out of a windshield in a car crash.
@transalana One can also take the symbolism of the Boy breaking through the glass as a sign that he has broken out of limbo. In this case we can assume that his sister had been waiting for him in the other side. Note how very little he had to walk to get to her and the place of their death. The fact that she did not turn around once she heard someone coming can also be taken as her already knowing who it was, not that she was startled.
@gogoteca if you have ever found something dead you would know that flies are attracted to it... My explanation about that is because the kid dies from falling out of his tree house, and at the very end of the game, his sister is mourning him! and then he became a ghost! the whole Limbo SHTICK-UP was about him proving to whomever that he should become a ghost so he can stay with his family!
damn man thats deep. didnt really pay attention to the details of it but you're theory makes the most sense to me. before that i thought they were both dead but the way you explain it makes perfect sense. the lump in the ground, the flies buzzing around and her being startled by some sort of presence she can feel.

@egdqv13234 Limbo is a place where babys or young kids go when they are not baptized.There are two types of Limbo,one is called Limbo of the Father you come here when before you go to heaven(can also be the place where you go when you are in a near-death situation or in a coma),the other type is called Limbo of the Children this is where children who are not baptized go when they died.Limbo is nether heaven or hell. I don't think Limbo is a real place like most christran do not belive in Limbo.

its simple, a little boy and his sister build a tree house in the woods, but one dreary day while climbing up the tree house the ladder breaks and both children unfortunately fall and die, and end up in Limbo a realm between this world & the next which one enters from not having a proper burial. So the little boy wakes up seperated from his sister unaware that he has died and goes to search for her. the main menu shows a broken ladder & their dead bodys with flies over them.
I dont think they died by a car crash or anything like that. I think they just fell out of the treehouse and died, scince there is were their corpses are in the ´´real world´´. But the boy woke up in Limbo, the ednge of Hell, and went through all that shit to find his missing sister. In the end, even though they were both dead, he finnaly found his sister and toghater they could move on to eternity and beyond! No matter were the ´´afterlife´´ is they were no longer alone. <3

How long is this game because when I played it you can see like chapters when you load a game and it looked like I was almost done and had only played like 2 or so hours. Compared to Outland which I have put much time. Maybe cause I die so much in Outland.
When I reached the ending, watched the credits roll and went back to the title screen, I dropped my console. We, the player, are guided this boy. We watched him die so many times but we kept pushing him through. I was really happy for the boy to finally see his sister, picking up flowers while waiting for him. Then the freaking title screen showed us a lump on the ground with flies around it. Our boy and his sister were dead all along. From the beginning. What an amazing and tragic game.

they didint make it. the ending scene has the same outline as the menu. only there is no one the ladders broken and there are to fly bundles.either they died or went to the after life and jst left their bodys.

After thinking about the ending for a long time, this is what I've come up with. The boys sister dies, the boy being extreamly upset about this drives his sister to the hospital to try to save her. The boy suddenly looses control of the car and it ends up the trees and the boy and girl go through the wind shield. After the boy dies he is thrown into Limbo because he needs to find out if his sister is ok or not. The breaking of the glass at the end is because they both went through thewindshield

The boy caused the girls death by frightening her with a bug(s), she fell from the tree house and died and while trying to save her, the boy died as well. Now as he "killed" his sister, he must traverse Limbo, facing their fears as he tries to find her and save them both. He breaks through to her, where she has been sitting in the light with her corpse all along. Sound of flies, two mounds and an old ladder shows us the truth.
or the kids were in the treehouse and someone flew off a road and slammed into the tree killing the boy and girl. lol i know its way out there but i like to think way way out of the box.
I don't think we should know his death. I think the the shattering glass represented his completion of Limbo, and the tree house and ladder represented a ladder to heaven. They probably chose a tree house because children would play in tree houses. He finds his sister who has been waiting for him. I don't think it is a car, because why would there be a car in a tree with a ladder up to it, then again, the game doesn't make sense so...

From what i got they both fell form the tree house .. The boy did but he had pushes his sis and seeing her about to fall tried to help falling him self. Then has to go through hell to find her. The glass breaking is when he forgiving him self and she forgiving him for what happened. This can be seen from the manu. The old tree house and flies over 2 spot on the ground under it.
This game is the reason why i play video games and want to punch everyone who has said that video games can't be art. You people who don't understand this games depth are clearly in Limbo yourself.

Once he finally came to the party his enraged gf along with her friends/parents/randomppl asked him what took him so long. He honestly said he what he was doing. His gf said that videogames is a lifewasting crap he retorted it saying that Shadow of Collosus is an art incarnate, as a result he's single now...ouch

This game is pure Art. I didn't even try it, but by only watching the ending I feel the exact same sensation I have when listening to Sigur Ros. For the happy fews knowing what I'm talking about, all of my respects.
So this is very clear to me now i see the point when she stood up shee got scared and went up the ladder and when the boy was going after her the ladder broke and he fell to his death and when time passed, the girl was ill so she layed right next to the boys`s boddy and she died right there, reunited wih her brother, heres the message, Once u have thought u have died and u acutaly have you will seek the ones most important to you in the after life......
0:08 to the end is probably the most beautiful thing in any video game ever. limbo was one of the few games where every second when i was playing it i was thinking "this is so amazing"
This game looks really great, I love the art style of it. The floaty jumping style of platforming reminds me of little big planet, but the atmosphere is much darker then in that game, which, in my opinion, is a better theme.
I probably won't buy this game though, so I just watched all the walkthroughs online. It looks challenging, but kind of short.

They both didn't die the boy did. He fell out of the tree house accidentally and died. He wakes up in limbo. He searches for his sister. When he gets to the end and he goes through the glass it means he got out of limbo and made it to the real world as a ghost. He sees his sister mourning for him. She stands up but doesn't look at him because she feels his presents.

@transalana I thought the same thing after reading a few articles. I then realized from looking at the scenery that they were no where near an ideal place to build a tree house. It's not a good idea to build a tree house for children in a 300ft tree, and there is not a single sign of a neighborhood around. NOTE THE POSITIONS of both children at the final scene and ignore the credits. Notice the title screen fade back in. Now there are shapeless blobs and clouds of flies hovering over instead.

@transalana While it is obvious that they are both dead (The evidence we have on the girl is that her position is also replaced with a shapeless figure on the ground with flies hovering over it like the boy's position in the title screen) by the title's name itself, it's not that easy to confirm HOW they died. I did find the boy crashing through glass and then ending up a position similar like the one he first wakes up in as a reference to someone flying out of a windshield in a car crash.

@transalana One can also take the symbolism of the Boy breaking through the glass as a sign that he has broken out of limbo. In this case we can assume that his sister had been waiting for him in the other side. Note how very little he had to walk to get to her and the place of their death. The fact that she did not turn around once she heard someone coming can also be taken as her already knowing who it was, not that she was startled.

@gogoteca if you have ever found something dead you would know that flies are attracted to it... My explanation about that is because the kid dies from falling out of his tree house, and at the very end of the game, his sister is mourning him! and then he became a ghost! the whole Limbo SHTICK-UP was about him proving to whomever that he should become a ghost so he can stay with his family!

damn man thats deep. didnt really pay attention to the details of it but you're theory makes the most sense to me. before that i thought they were both dead but the way you explain it makes perfect sense. the lump in the ground, the flies buzzing around and her being startled by some sort of presence she can feel.
i get it now. thank u. i love this game, i barely get an emotional attachment to a game but i do for this, theres so many emotions conveyed so well with such simplicity

@egdqv13234 Limbo is a place where babys or young kids go when they are not baptized.There are two types of Limbo,one is called Limbo of the Father you come here when before you go to heaven(can also be the place where you go when you are in a near-death situation or in a coma),the other type is called Limbo of the Children this is where children who are not baptized go when they died.Limbo is nether heaven or hell. I don't think Limbo is a real place like most christran do not belive in Limbo.

its simple, a little boy and his sister build a tree house in the woods, but one dreary day while climbing up the tree house the ladder breaks and both children unfortunately fall and die, and end up in Limbo a realm between this world & the next which one enters from not having a proper burial. So the little boy wakes up seperated from his sister unaware that he has died and goes to search for her. the main menu shows a broken ladder & their dead bodys with flies over them.

I dont think they died by a car crash or anything like that. I think they just fell out of the treehouse and died, scince there is were their corpses are in the ´´real world´´. But the boy woke up in Limbo, the ednge of Hell, and went through all that shit to find his missing sister. In the end, even though they were both dead, he finnaly found his sister and toghater they could move on to eternity and beyond! No matter were the ´´afterlife´´ is they were no longer alone. <3

How long is this game because when I played it you can see like chapters when you load a game and it looked like I was almost done and had only played like 2 or so hours. Compared to Outland which I have put much time. Maybe cause I die so much in Outland.

When I reached the ending, watched the credits roll and went back to the title screen, I dropped my console. We, the player, are guided this boy. We watched him die so many times but we kept pushing him through. I was really happy for the boy to finally see his sister, picking up flowers while waiting for him. Then the freaking title screen showed us a lump on the ground with flies around it. Our boy and his sister were dead all along. From the beginning. What an amazing and tragic game.

the boy and gierl fell out of aa tree as it collapsed.
the giant spider represents fear.
rain represents depression.
other characters represent lonyless.
cogs represent structure and progress ( the building of the tree house)
gravity represents falling (from the tree house).
and at the end he found his sister digging for the answer if she died or not but the boy already realized.

they didint make it. the ending scene has the same outline as the menu. only there is no one the ladders broken and there are to fly bundles.either they died or went to the after life and jst left their bodys.

After thinking about the ending for a long time, this is what I've come up with. The boys sister dies, the boy being extreamly upset about this drives his sister to the hospital to try to save her. The boy suddenly looses control of the car and it ends up the trees and the boy and girl go through the wind shield. After the boy dies he is thrown into Limbo because he needs to find out if his sister is ok or not. The breaking of the glass at the end is because they both went through thewindshield

However the girl at the end is not his sister. She dosn't turn around at the end because he there really isn't anyone there. Cause he's just a ghost. What do you think?

I like a theory from the comments of a review.
The boy caused the girls death by frightening her with a bug(s), she fell from the tree house and died and while trying to save her, the boy died as well. Now as he "killed" his sister, he must traverse Limbo, facing their fears as he tries to find her and save them both. He breaks through to her, where she has been sitting in the light with her corpse all along. Sound of flies, two mounds and an old ladder shows us the truth.

I don't think we should know his death. I think the the shattering glass represented his completion of Limbo, and the tree house and ladder represented a ladder to heaven. They probably chose a tree house because children would play in tree houses. He finds his sister who has been waiting for him. I don't think it is a car, because why would there be a car in a tree with a ladder up to it, then again, the game doesn't make sense so...

From what i got they both fell form the tree house .. The boy did but he had pushes his sis and seeing her about to fall tried to help falling him self. Then has to go through hell to find her. The glass breaking is when he forgiving him self and she forgiving him for what happened. This can be seen from the manu. The old tree house and flies over 2 spot on the ground under it.

Once he finally came to the party his enraged gf along with her friends/parents/randomppl asked him what took him so long. He honestly said he what he was doing. His gf said that videogames is a lifewasting crap he retorted it saying that Shadow of Collosus is an art incarnate, as a result he's single now...ouch

So this is very clear to me now i see the point when she stood up shee got scared and went up the ladder and when the boy was going after her the ladder broke and he fell to his death and when time passed, the girl was ill so she layed right next to the boys`s boddy and she died right there, reunited wih her brother, heres the message, Once u have thought u have died and u acutaly have you will seek the ones most important to you in the after life......

This game looks really great, I love the art style of it. The floaty jumping style of platforming reminds me of little big planet, but the atmosphere is much darker then in that game, which, in my opinion, is a better theme.
I probably won't buy this game though, so I just watched all the walkthroughs online. It looks challenging, but kind of short.
